I think Treforest vets are great! But as i live far from it i tried their vet practice in Tonypandy. It was an appalling experience!! Never again i made an appointment for 14.45 and 15.00 for my two dogs. I went in at 14.45 because i didn't want to wait, but after a while a lady came in with a dog and was told she had booked the wrong vets, but then the vet came out and called her in, while i have sympathy for this customer i was already late, i went to stand outside at 15.30 as my dogs were over excited and one was getting hot and bothered .i was then called in, the vet was very nice and i had no complaints of him, but the lady on reception was not nice in any way shape or form, she covered her ears when a dog(not mine) was barking! She was like as sulky teenager where everything is to much trouble. I said we've had injections and kennel cough, can i have worming and flea tablets please, she said right your dog weighs bla-De- bla! I was stunned i said you haven't put them on scales how do you know, she relied oh you want them weighed again? Well yes please one was a few years ago and the other was a pup!!!!to much hassle obviously. I paid cash after being handed the cashpoint , which i didnt ask forafter more tuts i said can i book another appointment ?no reciept !! On the way home i booked treforest vets for my next appointment. I wont go near Tonypandy one ever again! I've been with this practice with all my dogs for many years and will keep travelling but not if i'm treated like this!!!!!!!!!!! The lovely lady vet and nurse were absolutely amazing and respectful when we had to go through the heartbreaking process of putting our much loved cat Dee dee to sleep. My husband and I always use this vets and have had multiple visits with good care for my two spaniels but a week ago we experienced the most heartbreaking few days and had to make the decision to put our gorgeous Springer Tilly to sleep. My cat had pancreatitis and came in to Treforest vets following a stay at V.E.T.S. He came home to see if he would eat when he had refused to for four days. Although I was stressed about looking after a cat with such big medical needs who wouldn't eat, I felt they were there for me if I needed help. They made time to advise me, listen to my concerns and make giving him medication a little easier. They are all lovely staff, not one frown despite the emergency they'd faced earlier that day, and I am happy to confirm that when he got home, he ate a decent portion of food straight away! Having been taking my sick little sphynx cat to Budget Vet for 4 months, parting with almost 400 and not even getting close to a diagnoses, one visit here and and we instantly got the diagnosis we needed to start making our boy feel better. I cannot speak highly enough of the vet here (I realise now I didn't get her name but she is the Scottish lady) she was absolutely amazing!! She was knowledgable and immediately jumped to action. They have the cutting edge equipment that makes Budget Vet look like an antiquated joke! She took the time to explain in depth our boys condition and even though it wasn't brilliant news she gave us hope!! Can't recommend this branch and the lovely workers there highly enough!! I have to say I am so impressed with these vets and are second to none! We have previously been at treforest site but today visited tonypandy vets and saw Helen Dixon. A wonderful site with plenty of room, we were not rushed in any way and vet Helen gives us so much confidence in the right way forward and always gives us fantastic treatment. The personal approach goes a long way and we can't recommend them highly enough! I would recommend these vets to everyone- my dogs are happy going there and so am I! I have always taken all my animals to this vet surgery. I recently had the unfortunate experience of having one of my cats put to sleep. However i can not praise the vets and whole team on the care compassion and kindness they showed my beautiful boy harry. I would highly recommend this vets practice and wouldnt use anyone else. I have been taking my Shih Tzu to Treforest vets for the past 21 years. My first meeting with Mike Priest did not have the outcome I wanted as my young homebred bitch had an inoperable tumour which may or may not have been operable if my previous vet hadn't dillied and dallied. Mike was there when it was time to let her go as he has with quite a few since and he shows such compassion at the end and treats both pet and owner with dignity. It's not all sadness - he delivered my last litter by C section. That was an occasion never to be forgotten as both mum and i were recruited as extra pairs of hands to make sure all the babies were ok. He always seems to know exactly what is wrong. We have NEVER had a misdiagnosis. He's always the same -never a sour face - though I must say we both have aged a bit, me more so lol! The dogs love him...until he puts them on the table! He doesn't mind when one of them pees on him and for some inexplicable reason even my grumpy old boy lets Mike do things noone else can. I have had some great discussions, heard some wonderful anecdotes and had some laughs as well as tears over the years. I was so pleased when he and Andrew took over the practice and I know that Tonypandy Vets is going to be just as good. All the staff are great animal lovers and show a total commitment to their job. Compassionate! Friendly! What more can I say? They are simply the BEST ! Mike and the amazing team that make up Treforest Veterinary Clinic have looked after our animals for the past 20 years. They have always given us the best treatment and advice you could wish for. When we had to make the agonising decision a couple of months to put our German Shepherd to sleep, all the staff were amazing. We've been visiting Treforest Vets for the past 2 years or so since we moved into the area and we can't speak highly enough of the place. We've brought our cats Danny and Eddie in for varying reasons and we always get such a welcoming, friendly and professional service each time. Our cats mean the world to us and for the difficult times when they do need to see a vet, to know they are cared for, treated and assessed so well is so reassuring. I have used Treforest vets for over 30 years and I would never use anyone else even though I have 3 vets' practices closer to my home. All the staff are helpful, friendly and compassionate towards both pets and owners. I have always had cats and they have all enjoyed long, happy and healthy lives because of the fantastic care they received. What an excellent vet!! Couldn't recommend them enough! I am new to this vet with my first dog I have found them to be extremely helpful! Very honest with me! After having a bad experience with a different vet when my puppy was born and taking my money when it wasn't needed and finding out this vet was very honest with me at the time about my dogs condition I feel I have all the trust in the world for this vet and I no they are not just out to take my money, would definitely recommend to anyone! We have been going here for almost 30 years with various dogs etc. Mike Priest was a young Vet in George Marshall practice and even then showed signs of being the awesome vet that he is today.. We now have Border Collies. ... have done for 16 years and he understands them perfectly. Mike has now received God like status in our home as he always gets it right.... We tell him the symptoms....He comes up with the answer and remedy, if there can be one. His love for animals has been apparent in all that he does, while aiding our dogs to recover he always keeps our financial side in mind. Special thanks this week to newbie, Jonathan Riley who came to the house when I failed to get our old boy Finn who is almost 14 down to them. He looked as though he had had a stroke as his back legs had no strength and he couldn't stand! Also to the nurse who came with him ( so sorry, forgotten your name again) . They were fab to him and us and Came up with the right medication to treat his symptoms.... Finn is now on the mend and getting stronger by the day. As a team under Mikes and Andrews leadership...... They make for a wonderful bunch of people.... always put the animal first and tell you the truth.... sometimes even when you don't want to hear it...... but it's about what is best for the animal. Even it's far from our house we continue to bring our pet here. We get very difficult moments with our 13 years old dog but doctors find the cure and we are happilly enjoining Freddie today. Very well equipped Clinic and the dog was safe and happy there every time. Freddie is 13 years old and he is the patient since 6 months old. This is telling you about clinic more than I can tell.
