Unsatisfactory and unprofessional service. I was advised to bring my cat 45 min after taking Gabapentin, a drug used to calm down animals in order to facilitate a blood draw. It was obvious when my cat arrived at the practice that the drug had not yet taken any effect, but I was offered as the next option a general anaesthesia for an additional £100 and not to wait longer for the drug to take effect. Two hours after the drug was taken, my cat was obviously affected by the drug as she was then unable to walk, is now nearly 8hr after the intake still very drowsy. A quick search on the Internet confirms that "Gabapentin takes effect quickly, typically within one to two hours". I cannot comprehend why the vet advised the minimal possible time for the drug to take action for us to come and why a more expensive solution, with potentially greater side effects, was immediately offered instead of the common-sense advice to wait for the drug to act. When I called the practice to speak with the clinic manager, I was told that I declined the treatment, which is untrue. I declined an additional general anaesthesia as the next stage forward but was obviously keen to proceed with a blood test that I had paid for in advance. To discuss this for 5 min with the vet did cost me an additional £49, without informing me of this additional cost. On and all I spent over £100 for 2 short encounters with the vet and a drug that was given with the wrong recommendations and consequently no service was provided. I was not offered an apologies or refund for the poor service when I call to complaint but instead was made feel responsible claiming that it was my choice to decline the treatment. This experience left me with the impression that the practice functions essentially to favour costly services over primary care.

This vet practice was recommended to us by a friend. It's a bit out of the way, but definitely worth it! The staff are very knowledgeable and professional. My dog got the best treatment, and we never felt like they are trying to rip us off (which is a complaint I often heard about other vets). In short, great practice! We got the pay monthly health plan for a year, which covers vaccination, flea&tick treatments, check ups and 3 additional consultations. It's a great perk, and I would definitely recommend getting it.

I would give no stars if I could. My uncle took his rag doll cat here for a flu jag yesterday (27/07). Today the cat has been screaming, making roaring noises and being really sick. My uncle called them twice early afternoon and was told they would receive a call at 6pm (when they close at 6.30pm giving no time to actually get there if a vet would see him). My mum called and the receptionist was completely uninterested. More interested in making sure that she got to go home at 6.30pm than the health of the cat. It might not seem important to her that the cat is seriously ill but it's their pet and part of the family and they care deeply for him. Never came across a vet who cared less for its furry patients! Would never recommend this place, you want to take your pet somewhere that you feel they will be looked after, not thought of as an inconvenience!

Both Amanda and Sam at the Morningside Branch are amazing. Floyd had been in more than a few times for check-ups, vacancies and injuries and I have always felt comfortable and at ease when in. Can't fault the service either. After coming home and finding Floyd had injured his leg last night I was given an appointment for 20 minutes after the phone call. Keep up the fabulous work

We take our cat Ninja to the Southside branch. So far she's had two checkups, where the vets were lovely, very kind and professional, but she was still so terrified they couldn't examine her fully. ...
We take our cat Ninja to the Southside branch. So far she's had two checkups, where the vets were lovely, very kind and professional, but she was still so terrified they couldn't examine her fully. She was a shelter kitty who had a hard start in life (originally found in a skip), which we think is why she has such trouble coping with vet trips. Animac are being great at working with us to get her over her vet phobia. We have popped in with her three times so far to get her used to the place, and the receptionists have been friendly and helpful, coming over to give her treats and headrubs. She's gaining confidence and I think will make a lot of progress with further trips. It's giving us great peace of mind to know that if she does need medical treatment, she is a lot less likely to get distressed and need sedation. Animac aren't charging us a penny for this help and it's so kind of them to do this, because it's things like this which make all the difference. They also sell the best cat kibble ever, according to Ninja!

5* Vet! Great to have a vet practise local to me and my then (initially) anxious indoor cat. The practise itself has a calm environment and is very clean & welcoming inside. It was very important for me (as a pet service provider my self) to find a vet that was not only close by (south-side of the city), but essentially to seek a practise that was knowledgeable, caring and compassionate about animals. My cat returns on a regular basis, he is now a more comfortable and relaxed kitty when visiting. Thanks to the kind and helpful team at Animac! Cannot recommend highly enough!! I took my cat Ziggy in to the vets at Animac after he was scratching his head constantly. The vet, Sam took great care of my cat and advised a course of action which has resulted in the symptoms disappearing. Very happy with the service and the reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone.

We joined Animac over a year ago and our two dogs have never been better cared for. The team are very friendly and approachable and provide a genuinely compassionate and relaxed environment. No 'pushing' of unnecessary payment-plans, and far more affordable than other veterinarian practices in the city. Would highly recommend anyone looking for a fresher approach to animal care.

Even before I arrived at the vet's the staff had been helpful and very pleasant in helping me arrange back-to-back appointments for my two cats. The consultations with the vet was very helpful and she helped us plan a course of action that was required. I highly recommend the practice - great service, great folks!

I've used Animac vets for a for the last couple of years and I've always had good service for my 3 dogs and cat. All the staff are kind, caring and very helpful.
My dog had pups last year and Amanda was looking after us. She went through the whole journey from the scan to the pups first vaccinations. She is very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and gave good advice.
Prices are competitive with other vets.
I would recommend this vet.
Only problem is, it can be difficult to find a parking space sometimes.

Hard working dedicated caring team . we have used this vets for years and when eliot retired we were worried that our pets would not get the same care . however SUSAN AILEEN and SULA have been amazing . they were so caring over the past few years with the loss off our big boy and the illness of our wee girl who now thanks to them is back on form and top cat of the street again thanks guys an keep up the good work .XX MEL / PAUL

I have been lucky enough to have had my pets cared for by Animac Vets at Comiston Road since they took over the surgery a few years ago. All the staff- the vets, nurses and admin staff are all exceptionally helpful and are genuinely caring people.
I sadly lost my precious dog (aged 18years) last year and I received tremendous care from everyone throughout his happy life, but especially when he developed age related illness prior to his death. He had a very happy, active & full life thanks to the help from Animac ( & from me, with guidance from our lovely vets!!)
I now have a new wee dog who is filling my life with unconditional love & lots of fun, & already, he enjoys the attention he gets from the Animac Team-fortunately he's only needed routine health checks & vaccines so far.
Apart from my dogs, I've had several cats who have received super care from Animac throughout their lives, and I've received great help through the bereavement process too.
I highly recommend and encourage anyone to entrust Animac Vets with the care and treatment of their beloved pets!!! THANKYOU ANIMAC, Eileen & my Pets xx

This vet practice was recommended to us by a friend. It's a bit out of the way, but definitely worth it! The staff are very knowledgeable and professional. My dog got the best treatment, and we never felt like they are trying to rip us off (which is a complaint I often heard about other vets). In short, great practice! We take our cat Ninja to the Southside branch. So far she's had two checkups, where the vets were lovely, very kind and professional, but she was still so terrified they couldn't examine her fully. I took my cat Ziggy in to the vets at Animac after he was scratching his head constantly. The vet, Sam took great care of my cat and advised a course of action which has resulted in the symptoms disappearing. Very happy with the service and the reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone.

Even before I arrived at the vet's the staff had been helpful and very pleasant in helping me arrange back-to-back appointments for my two cats. The consultations with the vet was very helpful and she helped us plan a course of action that was required. I highly recommend the practice - great service, great folks!

I've used Animac vets for a for the last couple of years and I've always had good service for my 3 dogs and cat. All the staff are kind, caring and very helpful.
My dog had pups last year and Amanda was looking after us. She went through the whole journey from the scan to the pups first vaccinations. She is very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and gave good advice.
Prices are competitive with other vets.
I would recommend this vet.

I have been lucky enough to have had my pets cared for by Animac Vets at Comiston Road since they took over the surgery a few years ago. All the staff- the vets, nurses and admin staff are all exceptionally helpful and are genuinely caring people.
I sadly lost my precious dog (aged 18years) last year and I received tremendous care from everyone throughout his happy life, but especially when he developed age related illness prior to his death. He had a very happy, active & full life thanks to the help from Animac ( & from me, with guidance from our lovely vets!!)
