We are sorry to hear that your experience with us didn’t meet expectations. Covid has presented many challenges and we apologise for the slight delay on your visit and that due to your not being the pet's owner, we were unable to provide a standard receipt because of GDPR regulations which added a further delay. We are very confident in this veterinary practice which we have been using for 11 years. Other family members also use Oaktree. We took our cat to the PDSA vet hospital in West Edinburgh at the weekend as an emergency and they failed to spot a large wound in the belly of a very small cat! Our cat was still suffering so we took her into Oaktree where Malcolm quickly diagnosed the problem and outlined next steps for a full recovery. He listened well and diagnosed another issue that our cat has and recommended treatment for the problem. Read Less

We have been taking our 2 cats to Oak Tree for the past 5 years. The staff are very friendly, and extremely experienced. I have had a few worries with the cats over the years and they always offer helpful advice even just over the phone, to ease my mind. They also offer a payment plan where you can pay monthly for the yearly vaccinations/worming etc. to spread the cost. I have family members that also use Oak Tree, their dogs have had to have different operations over the years and the treatment and aftercare provided is second to none. I would recommend Oak Tree to anyone looking for a new veterinary practice for their pets. Read Less

We first went to Oak Tree with our gerbils because we wanted a vet who specialised in small animals. Malcolm did a fantastic job looking after them so there was no question of changing to a closer practice once the gerbils had passed on and we got our dog. There can't be many dogs who love going to the vet but ours is always desperate to get inside to demand attention from the staff, all of whom have been so friendly and helpful over the last five years. We have now moved away from Edinburgh but would recommend Oak Tree to anyone looking for a high standard of care for their pet. Read Less

We were given plenty of time during consultations and both myself and the dog were treated with very good care and respect by all members of the team. Alistair was very informative which enabled the rescue to make an informed choice in treatment, with the dogs interest always at the heart of the decisions. We have been going to Oak Tree Vet Centre for many years now - it started in the 1990's when we were living in London and visiting Edinburgh. We found them far better than the practice we were at down south and used to say that we travelled 500 miles to take our dog to the vet! When we moved back to Scotland we continued to go to the OTVC even though we stay in the Borders. Our recent experience has proved how right we were. Thanks to Alastair's prompt action he saved our dog's life by operating immediately on a perforated bowel, following up by keeping a close eye on him in the immediate aftermath. Sadly cancer was diagnosed and Jamie didn't survive despite the excellent treatment protocol that was devised. Throughout everything Alastair kept us informed of the pros and cons and was immensely supportive while the Reception and the Nursing staff couldn't have been nicer. Thank you all from us both. Oak tree are a fantastic vets. When our dog was very badly bitten by another dog we thought there would be very little could be done for him. He was being seen by Alistair within 30 mins (though it was a Saturday) of the incident. Alistair stitched him back together and after a week or two of very caring treatment he was on the road to recovery. 8 weeks on and he is back to his old self. Alastair has however seen the cat right through a couple of scrapes, regarding a previous comment re them being money orientated I have found the exact opposite a few times the animals have been back for check ups and have had no charge - never had this before from a vet. I have been taking my Dog to Oak Tree for 4 years and I have found that both Alistair and Malcolm the vets have a true passion for the job they do and this enthusiasm combined with their depth of knowledge gives you full confidence in them treating your dog. They always have time to answer any questions and you are never rushed out of the door. There is a friendly warm welcoming feel to the whole centre which couldn't be achieved without the receptionist Elspeth and the nurses that are the first faces you meet when you arrive. They know and greet each dog(and owner) and offer a calming ,reassurance when your dog is in for surgery and also keep the consultation rooms and reception areas spotless. If you want a local vet that you can trust then for me the best recommendation you will ever need is from my dog who jumps out the car and drags me to the door with a wagging tail!!Read Less

I have been going to Oak Tree Vet Centre for several years. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Not only do I know that my pet is getting the best treatment available, I always feel completely confident that everything will be explained to me and that she will be looked after as one of their own. Alistair Marks' knowledge and enthusiasm always makes me feel that no question I may have is stupid, so during any treatment I am totally at ease and can give him and his team full trust. He also has a genuine love for animals which shines every time he sees your pet, so you know you are in good hands. One of my dogs had several medical issues that Alistair went above and beyond to research new things and help me to give her the best life possible. I am convinced that Oak Tree Vet have the best combination of brilliant knowledge and skill and a cheery "beside" manner that makes every trip the best experience possible. The whole team always do all they can to look after you and your beloved pets as they would their own! Read Less

I highly recommend Oak Tree Vet Clinic. Me and my fiancé recently got little kitten called Cake and after doing some research on vets in Edinburgh it was really easy for us to see Oak Tree are the best so we decided on them. We called on a Monday at 1pm and had an appointment for 4pm that very same day. Great service the moment we entered, everyone is extremely welcoming and easy to talk to, and we were even given a tour of the facilities. This was great as when you go to other vets and drop off your pet, they are taken away behind the scenes and you have no idea what it is like back there. This has set me at ease and I know she would be taken rely good care for if anything bad was to ever happen to her. Another good point is they are always trying to improve the clinic with new technologies and equipment which allows them to have fast results from tests and able to do the difficult surgeries - where as with some vets they will have to send away for test results or send you to animal hospitals for complex treatments. I am blown away with their professionalism and friendliness and Cake loves them too.Read Less

They clearly care about every animal and will do everything in their power to help them get and stay well. One nurse even took our little furry friend home for the night after an emergency op. I cannot praise them enough. They're also very prompt when dealing with requests for information from insurance companies, which is a plus ;) Read Less

I would have no hesitation recommending Oak Tree. We have over the years seen all the vets and always receive a first class service. We are very grateful, thank you all at Oak Tree. Read Less

changed vets about 10 yrs ago, love this practice have been brilliant with my cats and when we got a dog was no other practice we would use. Dog loves going (cat not so much!) Alastair has however seen the cat right through a couple of scrapes, regarding a previous comment re them being money orientated I have found the exact opposite a few times the animals have been back for check ups and have had no charge - never had this before from a vet. Can not recommend highly enough caring friendly practice from shop purchases, routine visits, emergency visits and euthanasia 5* every time Read Less
