Please note that this review is for the sister practice on Thorpe Road. Perhaps they can share the love! - review as follows: I have had two very poor experiences with the staff at this vets. On the first occasion I went to register my dog with the vet in December 2024. However, at the initial consultation the vet treated me to a hard sell of their annual pet subscription, whilst giving me a fear-mongering litany of all the different illnesses that could befall my dog, likely or not. Alone in the room with him, door shut, I was placed under great pressure to subscribe to their plan. I found the whole experience extremely unprofessional and stressful. I left without paying for the so-called 'service' I had received. Later I spoke with the receptionist, who apologised for the behaviour of the vet, and we left it at that. Fast forward six months I have received a letter from a debt collection agency on behalf of the vet. So, I called the practice, who, it turned out, had been sending payment reminders to an incorrect email address. However, upon speaking with the practice manager in an attempt to resolve the issue, he himself was quite aggressive and made it clear that he was unwilling to acknowledge my original complaint as having any substance, and requiring me to pay the bill, which I now have. Strongly suggest going elsewhere, because in my experience they were quite unprofessional and completely unsympathetic . Read Less

took my dog to willows on a Friday thay did nothing to resolve his problem was charged 50 quid for absolutely nothing, then on the Saturday my dog started bleeding for his back passage had to rush him to taverham vets which was absolutely fantastic compared to willows it cost me another 190 pounds to have his back passage drained and for some pain relief and antibiotics which willow could of done on the Friday and prolonged my dogs suffering for an extra day before it got worst, when I rang willows on the Monday to ask for a check up with a senior veterinary the receptionist was rude unpleasant unapologetic I between the grunting and I can't be bothered to listen about me having to use the out of hrs service thay failed to act accordingly the day before didn't resolved the situation I asked for their complaints procedure and nothing thay have totally ignored the request from that moment it became clear the service provided by willows wasn't of what's expected as a customer and the staff obviously need retraining on customer service handling I wouldn't recommend willows to anyone looking to register at a vets in the future. I recently left after being with Willow on Drayton High Rd site for several years. There are a number of reasons why I have left but what has pushed me is the costs of staying. I went to get some more Stronghold for my cat, I was told the 6 pack was £63 when the last time I paid for it was in the late £40's. When I questioned the massive increase, I was told that it was nothing to do with them, it was the manufactures. I was told it may me cheaper to go online. So, I went online which is much cheaper but you need to get a prescription. Therefore, I returned and was told that they charge £18.50 for each prescription which can only be used once. This meant that it would be more expensive to buy online! On going a couple of miles up the road to a much larger well known vets, the stronghold price was £49.00. They also charged £8.50 for a prescription which could be used many times for up to a year! Unsurprisingly, I have moved to this new vets, even though they are further away. Plus they were able to offer key hole surgery for my dog which Willow told me they don't do. When I joined Willow Vets in Hellesdon it appeared to be small, friendly, and the main Geordie Vet was brilliant and had excellent common sense. He may have retired or be winding down, but I've not had him the last year I was there. I wasn't particularly impressed with continual conflicting advice given by other different members of staff. Also, every time I've gone into the Vets they now always try to sell you their own pet plan, even though I say no every time. It was becoming irritating. Based on my experience, this vet group is becoming more orientated towards money. I would certainly recommend checking costs elsewhere before committing to/ or staying with them. Read Less

They wouldn't replace my dogs microchip when it couldn't be detected - they implanted it at 8 weeks. It took a lot of arguments to get it sorted out but they did replace it in the end, after much arguing and annoyance that I was "such a bother to them" and it was going to cost them... Oh, a whole £1 or so at wholesale prices... I have never been back since and I would advise anyone thinking of taking their pets there to think twice. The staff are rude, the manager was completely disinterested in the safety of my dog and more interesting in making profit when I shouldn't have to pay twice in principle - a microchip is supposed to last for life... I first registered my dog here when they had a half price deal on neutering. He wasn't best pleased but the op went well and the aftercare was very good. He's been back twice for yearly jabs, again no problems, and he split his dew claw a few months back so I took him for that. The advice given was excellent and it healed up nicely without needing to be removed. His most recent trip in November 2017 wasn't the best as we saw a new vet, she didn't speak very good English and trying to understand her was very difficult. She was trying to explain how to check my dogs pulse and heartbeat by myself but I came out more confused than when I went in! Good old Google to the rescue. This was a bit of a let down, I don't doubt her abilities as a vet one little bit, but it's not great when you need an interpreter to understand something which is very important. Read Less
