Alexandra and Hillyfields Vets is a great vets practice. The staff are caring, calm and compassionate - all that you could ask for and they deal magnificently with our grumpy cat. They have been wonderful about fitting our cat in for emergencies - in one case postponing starting surgery to deal with our mog when she was having an allergic reaction. They are no less helpful and accomodating for routine appointments. From the get-go you know your animal is in good hands. The waiting room is a calm and well organised space with a segregated area for cats, away from the dogs. The vets are usually bang on time and any delays are minor. When you get to see the vets, they are professional and calm. They deal beautifully with the animals and they are hugely knowledgable about all the queries you have. I am always pleased with the prompt service I have with my dog Erik. All staff are very helpful and cheerful. Erik is not the most relaxed of dogs, and usually has a lot to say for himself, but seems quite happy to see the team. We recently moved to this area, and my 12 year old dog had been seeing the same vet since he was a puppy, so I was a bit apprehensive about taking him to a new vet. However, he was completely at ease with the lovely clean, friendly atmosphere at Alexandra & Hillyfields, and actually enjoyed the attention of the vets, nurses and receptionists. He has just had rather a tricky operation on his leg, but the vet did a wonderful job, and the dog has recovered perfectly. The vets are always very through and attentive, and I feel absolutely confident that they are giving my dog the best treatment. We have had pets for years, but have never experienced such caring and professional service from all the vets and nurses at Alexandra Vets. No matter the time of day the service is always with a smile from all members of staff, advice given freely over the phone and doing there best to fit an 'emergency' appointment in at short notice. The receptionists are very friendly and always make a fuss of our dogs on arrival with treats and attention...which they love !! One of our dogs is a young golden retriever who attended the Puppy socialisation with Rob (one of the vets). We've been to many 'training' and 'socialising' classes around Bristol with various dogs, but have never found one that was run by a vet! You are not only getting the essential socialisation for your young dog, but also getting reassured as owners with training techniques and any behavioural queries. In our minds this is the only choice for our pets, as everyone at this practice makes sure you and your pet are happy.Read Less

Our dog is a rescue dog who came to live with us nearly three years ago. We visited a few Vet's surgeries and chose Alexandra vets as they seemed very friendly and welcoming. We visit them fairly regularly as unfortunately our dog doesn't enjoy the best of health. She loves going there, adores all the staff ( and the treats they all give her!) and they make a huge fuss of her. I would recommend them as they are very thorough and efficient. I also find it useful that I can ring and receive advice over the phone and if they say they will ring me back. they always keep that promise. Read Less
