My 8 month old puppy died alone, in a cage at this practice.
After ringing the emergency, out of hours vet 3 times he finally agreed to come out to the surgery to see our puppy at approx 1.30 in the morning.
After various tests (heart beat, temperature etc) we were told the puppy would have to stay in overnight in what (I thought at the time) was their capable hands.
Steven took blood tests etc then at 4am left him alone (I presume on a drip) in a cage. When the nurse came in the following morning Frank had passed away and was lying in blood from his mouth and bottom.
He must have wondered why we abandoned him to suffer alone and ultimately to die alone.
Graham has tried to make amends for Frank’s treatment by paying for his cremation, sending flowers and covering the insurance excess but nothing will bring my puppy back or take away my grief or guilt that I left him there to die alone.
I would never recommend this practice to anybody.

Everyone very polite and lovely. Graham has been amazing with us and our horses he's very knowledgeable and teaches us along the way so we understand everything going on. He has a dry sense of humour ...
Everyone very polite and lovely. Graham has been amazing with us and our horses he's very knowledgeable and teaches us along the way so we understand everything going on. He has a dry sense of humour which we all love. What a great guy to have around. We also met huw today who was equally lovely. Receptionist is very quick to get things sorted at the last minute. I have zero complaints and today was a big day. Lots of teeth. Lots of injections. We have a huge amount of animals and with that comes cost yes but I don't think it's too expensive for what's done and the time and care it takes to keep them healthy.

Been with this vets for 4 years with my rabbit. They have always been friendly, caring and compassionate. To get an appointment is easy, no waiting and they really take their time in making sure your questions are answered.
I recently found 5 abandoned kittens and they checked them over, gave me advice and helped me make sure that I could comfortably look after them; which gave me confidence that I was doing the right thing.
All the staff are so friendly, helpful, and know their stuff! I have rang on many occasions for advice and they will always answer my questions and sort out any problems; even if I'm panicking over nothing, They always take their time to reassure me.
Highly recommend them!

Had to use out of hours, relieved to have our usual vet on the other end of the phone who saw us straight away and got us booked in with a specialist first thing in the morning! It was very reassuring in stressful situation with a vet who know you and your pet at your usual practise. Provided great continued support going above and beyond with updates on progress genuine caring about you animals wellbeing. Would highly recommend for pets, horses and farm animals.

Have been with FHV for several years now and their service has been first class. The true test of a great vet is usually when you need them immediately. Sadly when it came to the time to have our beloved Dalmatian Hattie put to sleep, Graham Barlow went the extra mile , came to our house and without fuss and stress to her, made the experience as best he could for us all. He also arranged the cremation and return of her ashes.
It's only times like this that you really appreciate afterwards what a great job he did.
We also received a lovely card from the surgery .......its little things sometimes that help us all.
Thoroughly recommend for their customer service.

We've been taking our animals to Forest House for the past 6 years and have always been extremely happy with the service they give. Graham has always been fantastic with our feisty bunny Clarice Starling and Aimee was a massive help when a stray cat turned up on our doorstep (now a much loved member of our family named Buffy). Over the past couple of months I have practically lived at the surgery while our bunny Harvey was battling an illness. Huw in particular was amazing with him. He tried several different treatments and was even willing to trial new medications at my request. Not only that but we could tell he genuinely cared for our bunny and had a strong drive to help him recover. The past few months have been tough but when I needed help I always knew I could call the surgery or even receive a speedy reply on social media (thank you Aimee!) Sadly Harvey succumbed to his illness, but at that very sad time the surgery did everything they could to make the process as smooth as possible (special thank you to Jonathan for the quick late night reply to my question about cremation, and Ruth on Reception for her kindness and smoothly making the arrangements when I was a sobbing mess) I have always recommended Forest House as the best place for treating your poorly animals but I will now also strongly recommend them to fellow animal lovers for their genuine kindness and empathy. I've mentioned a few names but all of the staff are amazing and you know your much loved animals are in the very best hands. Thank you! Sarah, Dean, Clarice Starling and Buffy

We were concerned about the lack of facts associated with the advice from our regular vet, so sought a second opinion. The original advice would have potentially put our dog through a lot of emotional stress, not to mention some costly procedures. So, we approached Forest House. What we found so refreshing from Graham at Forest House was his willingness to research and investigate the symptoms and seek his own expert second opinion to correctly diagnose the problem and ultimately the best cure - which was non evasive, and so saved our family dog from any stress. I can't thank Graham enough and would happily recommend him to others. Obviously, he is now our regular VET :-)

I have just been to collect my pet rabbit, as she went in for a tooth out, and they rang me to casually tell me that she had died.
She was perfectly healthy before she went in. I am totally disgusted...

She was perfectly healthy before she went in. I am totally disgusted with the lack of care, compassion, or even any concern as to what had happened to her.
The last thing I said to the cold nurse was 'look after my bonby wont you?'
Bonby was special to us, she was rescued at the side of a main road having been dumped by someone. I brought her back to health and gave her a lovely life again. She became so tame that she lived with my two little dogs, and would like to sunbathe with them in the lounge.
She was such a lovely caring rabbit. And I let her go to that place you call a Vets!!!
Please beware of this practice, as you risk having your pet dying!!
And don't bother replying to this Marriane.. as I am now taking legal advice, so don't patronise me any further.
Don't take your pet there... you have been advised by a very unhappy customer...

Amazing practice . Moved here in an emergency with my dog as wasn't happy with the care from my previous vets . I can honestly say they were amazing and even called me when they were closed as my dog had been in a serious accident . They referred me to the animal referral centre where my dog is currently been treated and we go back to forest House vets for dressing changes . Amazing people who really care and provide a fantastic service .

Well what can I say, every time I go there someone, always in a kind and polite and caring manner mind you, has a habit of greeting me by shoving their finger up my bum! Now I've been to many places with my owners, have been on long walks in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Have eaten at Micheline starred restaurants and stayed in plush (and the occasional very rough) establishments but never, oh never, has any proprietor of these establishments felt inclined to adopt the same form of greeting. Now this could be a habit and custom unique to North Yorkshire, highly possible, or to just Knaresborough itself but either way I somehow feel an awful lot better (after the initial indignation) every time I visit Forrest House Vets. So my vote goes (if you are a pet that is 'cos I can't see my old man being happy with a similar greeting), feeling under the weather, whatever, pop along to FHVS and hey presto, they'll sort you out with loads love and TLC!!

My 8 month old puppy died alone, in a cage at this practice.
After ringing the emergency, out of hours vet 3 times he finally agreed to come out to the surgery to see our puppy at approx 1.30 in the morning.
After various tests (heart beat, temperature etc) we were told the puppy would have to stay in overnight in what (I thought at the time) was their capable hands.
Steven took blood tests etc then at 4am left him alone (I presume on a drip) in a cage. When the nurse came in the following morning Frank had passed away and was lying in blood from his mouth and bottom.
He must have wondered why we abandoned him to suffer alone and ultimately to die alone.
Graham has tried to make amends for Frank’s treatment by paying for his cremation, sending flowers and covering the insurance excess but nothing will bring my puppy back or take away my grief or guilt that I left him there to die alone.
I would never recommend this practice to anybody.

Everyone very polite and lovely. Graham has been amazing with us and our horses he's very knowledgeable and teaches us along the way so we understand everything going on. He has a dry sense of humour ...
Everyone very polite and lovely. Graham has been amazing with us and our horses he's very knowledgeable and teaches us along the way so we understand everything going on. He has a dry sense of humour which we all love. What a great guy to have around. We also met huw today who was equally lovely. Receptionist is very quick to get things sorted at the last minute. I have zero complaints and today was a big day. Lots of teeth. Lots of injections. We have a huge amount of animals and with that comes cost yes but I don't think it's too expensive for what's done and the time and care it takes to keep them healthy.

Been with this vets for 4 years with my rabbit. They have always been friendly, caring and compassionate. To get an appointment is easy, no waiting and they really take their time in making sure your questions are answered.
I recently found 5 abandoned kittens and they checked them over, gave me advice and helped me make sure that I could comfortably look after them; which gave me confidence that I was doing the right thing.
All the staff are so friendly, helpful, and know their stuff! I have rang on many occasions for advice and they will always answer my questions and sort out any problems; even if I'm panicking over nothing, They always take their time to reassure me.
Highly recommend them!

Had to use out of hours, relieved to have our usual vet on the other end of the phone who saw us straight away and got us booked in with a specialist first thing in the morning! It was very reassuring...
Had to use out of hours, relieved to have our usual vet on the other end of the phone who saw us straight away and got us booked in with a specialist first thing in the morning! It was very reassuring in stressful situation with a vet who know you and your pet at your usual practise. Provided great continued support going above and beyond with updates on progress genuine caring about you animals wellbeing. Would highly recommend for pets, horses and farm animals.

Have been with FHV for several years now and their service has been first class. The true test of a great vet is usually when you need them immediately. Sadly when it came to the time to have our beloved Dalmatian Hattie put to sleep, Graham Barlow went the extra mile , came to our house and without fuss and stress to her, made the experience as best he could for us all. He also arranged the cremation and return of her ashes.
It's only times like this that you really appreciate afterwards what a great job he did.
We also received a lovely card from the surgery .......its little things sometimes that help us all.
Thoroughly recommend for their customer service.

.Nice caring understanding vets and staff .We called them out late night as our bitch was struggling whilst whelping.Johnothen met us at the surgery where he examined Zoe.After a while he suggested the best way for Zoe would be a c section .He called a nurse in ,this was midnight.While waiting for the nurse he explained the procedure to us.The operation went very well and Zoe's puppies were alright.The after care is very good and helpful.Thankyou so much Marie and Bob

We've been taking our animals to Forest House for the past 6 years and have always been extremely happy with the service they give. Graham has always been fantastic with our feisty bunny Clarice Starling and Aimee was a massive help when a stray cat turned up on our doorstep (now a much loved member of our family named Buffy). Over the past couple of months I have practically lived at the surgery while our bunny Harvey was battling an illness. Huw in particular was amazing with him. He tried several different treatments and was even willing to trial new medications at my request. Not only that but we could tell he genuinely cared for our bunny and had a strong drive to help him recover. The past few months have been tough but when I needed help I always knew I could call the surgery or even receive a speedy reply on social media (thank you Aimee!) Sadly Harvey succumbed to his illness, but at that very sad time the surgery did everything they could to make the process as smooth as possible (special thank you to Jonathan for the quick late night reply to my question about cremation, and Ruth on Reception for her kindness and smoothly making the arrangements when I was a sobbing mess) I have always recommended Forest House as the best place for treating your poorly animals but I will now also strongly recommend them to fellow animal lovers for their genuine kindness and empathy. I've mentioned a few names but all of the staff are amazing and you know your much loved animals are in the very best hands. Thank you! Sarah, Dean, Clarice Starling and Buffy

We were concerned about the lack of facts associated with the advice from our regular vet, so sought a second opinion. The original advice would have potentially put our dog through a lot of emotional stress, not to mention some costly procedures. So, we approached Forest House. What we found so refreshing from Graham at Forest House was his willingness to research and investigate the symptoms and seek his own expert second opinion to correctly diagnose the problem and ultimately the best cure - which was non evasive, and so saved our family dog from any stress. I can't thank Graham enough and would happily recommend him to others. Obviously, he is now our regular VET :-)

I have just been to collect my pet rabbit, as she went in for a tooth out, and they rang me to casually tell me that she had died.

She was perfectly healthy before she went in. I am totally disgusted with the lack of care, compassion, or even any concern as to what had happened to her.
The last thing I said to the cold nurse was 'look after my bonby wont you?'
Bonby was special to us, she was rescued at the side of a main road having been dumped by someone. I brought her back to health and gave her a lovely life again. She became so tame that she lived with my two little dogs, and would like to sunbathe with them in the lounge.
She was such a lovely caring rabbit. And I let her go to that place you call a Vets!!!
Please beware of this practice, as you risk having your pet dying!!
And don't bother replying to this Marriane.. as I am now taking legal advice, so don't patronise me any further.
Don't take your pet there... you have been advised by a very unhappy customer...

Amazing practice . Moved here in an emergency with my dog as wasn't happy with the care from my previous vets . I can honestly say they were amazing and even called me when they were closed as my dog had been in a serious accident . They referred me to the animal referral centre where my dog is currently been treated and we go back to forest House vets for dressing changes . Amazing people who really care and provide a fantastic service .

Well what can I say, every time I go there someone, always in a kind and polite and caring manner mind you, has a habit of greeting me by shoving their finger up my bum! Now I've been to many places with my owners, have been on long walks in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Have eaten at Micheline starred restaurants and stayed in plush (and the occasional very rough) establishments but never, oh never, has any proprietor of these establishments felt inclined to adopt the same form of greeting. Now this could be a habit and custom unique to North Yorkshire, highly possible, or to just Knaresborough itself but either way I somehow feel an awful lot better (after the initial indignation) every time I visit Forrest House Vets. So my vote goes (if you are a pet that is 'cos I can't see my old man being happy with a similar greeting), feeling under the weather, whatever, pop along to FHVS and hey presto, they'll sort you out with loads love and TLC!!
