We come to see Katie with our 15+ year old dog (Oscar) for accupuncture once a week. Firstly, Oscar is a pretty unbelievable dog who has recently overcome pretty major health issues. He began suffering with arthritis some time ago, causing bad left hind leg weakness. Our regular vet suggested we tried accupuncture and we found Katie. I cannot tell you the huge difference it has made, not only in reducing his pain and stifness, but also to his general wellbeing. If you have an...y doubts in its ability please don't..it is such a valuable therapy for your animal if they need some pain relief! To put it simply, it makes them comfortable and assists the body to relax and therefore heal. Now on to the staff at Eastgate. Katie is amazing. Her manner and total dedication to not only your pet, but to you as an owner as well is wonderful. She is so patient with all our queries and questions and explains things as clearly and honestly as she can. With such an old dog that is of great value to us. We have total confidence in her as she has helped us so much. The Nurses and Reception staff are always happy and very friendly and they clearly enjoy meeting you and your animals. All in all, Eastgate in our experience is a lovely welcoming vets practice who are very accomodating, and we thank you for the care of our dog (and us!) See More Read Less

We were on holiday and thought my mums dog had a tick which needed removing. I rang the surgery and they were lovely and helpful, advising me to visit before half past 4 for an appointment. My mum arrived and she advised me how lovely the receptionist and vet were to both here and Lola, her doggy. Lola didn't have a tick in the end, but I was so impressed with the way this vet in art practice responded to visitors to the area. They really put my mums mind at rest about her precious pooch. I would recommend them highly. Thank you for your attention and care 10/10 Read Less

We cannot recommend Eastgate Vets highly enough, the whole team are lovely and they have seen us though some very difficult times with our dogs with kindness, understanding and incredible patience. Allowing us to turn surgery upside down on more than one occasion with poorly wolfhounds and going beyond the extra mile to find answers. I'm sure it's down to Katie's herbs that, even though she had sacral nerve damage for many years, one of my Labradors made the grand age of 16 and half happily, waggily and pain free. Laura has been wonderful over the last few months as we've dealt with Hebe's liver condition, not only that but everyone, despite being incredibly busy, rearranged everything so that Laura could come out to Hebe one last time in a very short time frame. That type of care cannot be overstated it is very much appreciated by us and our dogs. And the puppy parties are a chaotic, joyous occasion! Read Less

Since moving to the area 13 years ago Eastgate Veterinary Centre have provided excellent care for both our farm and domestic animals. Katie is the vet that the local dog rescue I am involved with use and she always goes 'above and beyond' to help the dogs in our care from the moment we take them from the council pounds when due to be pts through to when they are rehomed. Many of the new owners stay with the practice even though some are not local to the area because they value the care, knowledge and expertise of the staff. During office hours my calls have always been dealt with efficiently and out of hours you always speak to a voice you know and not someone from another practice who is covering. When the time has come to say goodbye to my beloved dogs Katie has always dealt with the situation in a caring and sympathetic way, explained everything and has taken time to make sure both myself and my animals have had the best experience possible at a very difficult time. Highly recommend Katie and all the team at Eastgate. Read Less

This practice's claim that it treats all pets as if they were their own has always hit the nail on the head in our experience. All the staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Katie is the vet we usually see. She has had the care of our three dogs. She always treats you with respect, involves you with the treatment, never patronises. She has proved herself to be open to new ideas and suggestions. She saw one dog through his last illness and dealt with him (and us) with kindness and compassion at home when he lost his battle. She has seen another dog through a long, chronic condition with care and acupuncture and we often tell people she has kept this dog alive and happy for 6 years when he was not expected to live out the year. She sees him every 2 or 3 weeks and he adores her. What better recommendation. Read Less

My daughter called the emergency vets (Sunday) 11ish, got through to your vet (Katie Longmire) and we are not going to overlook her attitude this time. My daughter wanted to come in an hour ( our dog had been bitten badly on a walk) told couldn't come in an hour as there might be another emergency and would have to come in now, however this wasn't possible as she doesn't drive and was waiting for me to get home, when asked if there was another emergency vets, as she clearly wasn't interested said she didn't know any. (really) In the end my daughter was so upset she hung up. When I got in, I phoned and got her usual patronising and condescending attitude but one thing she didn't forget to tell me was that the fee was 90 and that she would have to come in especially to open up. In other words you are a nuisance. You have made quite a lot of money out of us over a period, what with flea treatments, visits, food for 2 dogs and 2 cats, so your whole attitude is bad when you really need the help. We are obviously not the first complaint you have had about her but you will probably disagree with this. I'm pleased you can afford to lose valuable customers but one word of advice, I would suggest you change the logo on your website because it is not a "welcome friendly practise" on Sundays. Its not good enough. And as for this particular vet she obviously doesn't care and she has a terrible attitude problem. Read Less
