Since Sept ‘15 our 3 little dogs have been registered here and the care has been exemplary.
I phoned at 14.15 hrs on Tue 18 th June and I was refused an appointment to be seen by the Locum vet, stated no available appointments,
In distress and hoping for guidance or advice I went in person, and there was not one single pet in the waiting area nor in the consulting rooms.
When I asked for an explanation I was not provided a single word of advice or guidance from either the vet nor the vet nurse,
BUT suddenly I was told the vet is not refusing to see your dog, she will see your dog, and there will be an extra emergency fee, this was a 2:30 in the afternoon and the practice was quiet .
Wed 19 th, the next morning we have left this practice , all 3 of our dogs are now registered at another independent practice
Our little 17-year-old dog has recovered and is doing very well.
I’m truly disgusted with Companion Care / Vets4Pets.
The in house vet ( business partner) at the practice was removed in February 20 th ‘ 24.
This is four months ago and the company have not had the courtesy to inform us the paying clients that there is no Vet anymore at the practice.
And on many days, they don’t even have a locum Vet.!
Safety , best practice and excellent veterinary care are priority for our 3 little elderly dogs.
Thankfully, the service at our new practice is exactly that.
Corporate greed is not a good look
In truth, I feel I have been misled this health plan and I feel this better repractice have completely completely failed in their duty of care.
On Tuesday, I should not have had to go in person to meet with the vet who had refused to see my dog even though I clearly stayed. She is 17 and is rapidly deteriorating .
An appallingly poor service.
I recommend avoid.

They also have a Veterinary surgery there, with just about the best staff you can find. They're really good with your pets, very caring and calming. I'd recommend this branch of Pets at Home/ Companion Care to everyone.

Companion care vets in pets at home Scarborough are amazing Jon the very & his wonderful team can't praise highly enough I have 4 rabbits 3 cats & 1 dog so as you can imagine we sometimes have emergencies . They are friendly helpful supportive always there to help & guide you I personally would trust Jon & his team with my life over the years & still am always grateful & forever in their debt for always being there supporting me through thick & thin with my fur babies xx the last pic of my grey cat under going treatment after his last incident

As with all vets this one is expensive but they try and fit u in as soon as they can. If it is an emergency they endeavour to see your pet immediately and hold other appointments. The vets themselves...
As with all vets this one is expensive but they try and fit u in as soon as they can. If it is an emergency they endeavour to see your pet immediately and hold other appointments. The vets themselves are really friendly and do what they can to help. You do get the feeling though that u are being persuaded to buy things/services that you don't really need at times. I suppose this is where the business side comes in. They do not tend to reptiles even though the vet is situated within pets at home which sold reptiles until a short while ago. This is a handy local vet however the vets can change regularly as they are employed and not their own practice.

Absolutely shocking!! Took my dog in friday with excruciating stomach pain to be told it was his ears causing pain so was given special drops, tablets and anti allergy dog food costing £100 had to then take him in 2 days later as my dog continued to be screaming to be told the ear drops were making his ears worse and he was given morphine for the pain. The morphine did not work throughout the evening and night i had to lie with him on the dining room floor as he was unable to move and in pain so the morphine hadn't worked. Rushed him back in the following day to ask for xrays on his stomach like i had initially asked for and it was confirmed he had inflamation and trapped gases. We were originally quoted £200 for xrays but on the day they then told us £340 when we arrived to collect him it had gone upto £370 as they had ran blood tests we had not asked for nor been told about! He left today on tablets for his tummy which initially he should of been given 4 days ago as the first ones are now useless. When i spoke with a woman explaining the first tablets were now useless, the ear drops made his ears worse and the morphine didnt work could we have some kind of discount as these treatments had totalled £200, i was spoke to so rudely and abruptly. Absolutely appalled by the staff and how they have gone about things. Instead of listening to what i believed was the inital problem has just cost us hundereds for unnecessary treatments... now another 2 days on he is still in pain, i have called numerous times from 9.30am today for blood test results to be told I'd be called back it is now 17.30 and nothing!! My dog has now be signed upto another vet and i certainly will not be putting another penny in these money grabbers tills

We sadly had to have are eldest dog put to sleep on Wednesday I'd I'd would just like to say how compassionate and understanding all the staff were even letting us split the payment. Wen my partner and son went to settle the bill they so kind in asking how we all were and how are other dog was which is the daughter of the one we lost and they even gave my son a free toy to bring home to cheer her up which it did. I can't thank you all enough for making wot was a hard enough time a little easier

We have a timid sprocker and John goes out of his way each visit to reassure him. I can't recommend them enough!!!

I have had the pleasure of meeting Joao and his team on many occasions when my sugar gliders require neutering. I have always been impressed by the pleasant and efficient service I receive and have never had a problem with any of the procedures carried out.
Highly recommended and well worth the 100 mile round I travel to ensure my pets receive the best treatment possible.

We have been with companion care for a few years now, and we have had other vets in the past. Joao and his staff have never been anything more than wonderful. Kind / caring / knowledgeable / very skilled. One of my cats has had very complex knee surgery and not many vets are capable of doing that. At present one of my cats is recovering with the staff after dental surgery. I had an update from Joao himself and he mentioned that my cat had a" little accident" in his cat bed and someone has kindly washed it for me. How kind is that.
It is really sad to see bad reviews for such exceptional professionals who have a duty of care to the animals not the owners. I have complete faith in Joao and Sandra, they are lovely people and perfect vets in my opinion.

I suppose this is where the business side comes in. They do not tend to reptiles even though the vet is situated within pets at home which sold reptiles until a short while ago. This is a handy local vet however the vets can change regularly as they are employed and not their own practice.

Absolutely shocking!! Took my dog in friday with excruciating stomach pain to be told it was his ears causing pain so was given special drops, tablets and anti allergy dog food costing £100 had to then take him in 2 days later as my dog continued to be screaming to be told the ear drops were making his ears worse and he was given morphine for the pain. The morphine did not work throughout the evening and night i had to lie with him on the dining room floor as he was unable to move and in pain so the morphine hadn't worked. Rushed him back in the following day to ask for xrays on his stomach like i had initially asked for and it was confirmed he had inflamation and trapped gases. We were originally quoted £200 for xrays but on the day they then told us £340 when we arrived to collect him it had gone upto £370 as they had ran blood tests we had not asked for nor been told about! He left today on tablets for his tummy which initially he should of been given 4 days ago as the first ones are now useless. When i spoke with a woman explaining the first tablets were now useless, the ear drops made his ears worse and the morphine didnt work could we have some kind of discount as these treatments had totalled £200, i was spoke to so rudely and abruptly. Absolutely appalled by the staff and how they have gone about things. Instead of listening to what i believed was the inital problem has just cost us hundereds for unnecessary treatments... now another 2 days on he is still in pain, i have called numerous times from 9.30am today for blood test results to be told I'd be called back it is now 17.30 and nothing!! My dog has now be signed upto another vet and i certainly will not be putting another penny in these money grabbers tills

We sadly had to have are eldest dog put to sleep on Wednesday I'd I'd would just like to say how compassionate and understanding all the staff were even letting us split the payment. Wen my partner and son went to settle the bill they so kind in asking how we all were and how are other dog was which is the daughter of the one we lost and they even gave my son a free toy to bring home to cheer her up which it did. I can't thank you all enough for making wot was a hard enough time a little easier

We have a timid sprocker and John goes out of his way each visit to reassure him. I can't recommend them enough!!!

I have had the pleasure of meeting Joao and his team on many occasions when my sugar gliders require neutering. I have always been impressed by the pleasant and efficient service I receive and have never had a problem with any of the procedures carried out.
Highly recommended and well worth the 100 mile round I travel to ensure my pets receive the best treatment possible.

We have been with companion care for a few years now, and we have had other vets in the past. Joao and his staff have never been anything more than wonderful. Kind / caring / knowledgeable / very skilled. One of my cats has had very complex knee surgery and not many vets are capable of doing that. At present one of my cats is recovering with the staff after dental surgery. I had an update from Joao himself and he mentioned that my cat had a" little accident" in his cat bed and someone has kindly washed it for me. How kind is that.
It is really sad to see bad reviews for such exceptional professionals who have a duty of care to the animals not the owners. I have complete faith in Joao and Sandra, they are lovely people and perfect vets in my opinion.

After my dog had eaten some mouse poison I rang this vets. They rushed him in and treated him very professionally. They followed up the following day to check how he was. All staff very friendly.
