Incompetent at the least. Had 2 visits here vet said my cat Ruby had an insect bite as could not find anything with wrong her. The vet let go of Ruby she then fell on the floor, antibiotics prescribed had no information on administration. This should of been a red flag anyway took her back said she could have a scan but would be 5 days despite me advising that she was not eating or drinking still made no difference it was to be 5 days. Phoned Alnorthumbria who were surprised (A) she had not been admitted sooner as she was clearly dehydrated, rapid heart beat and was not eating or drinking. I then proceeded to phone Robson Prescott to ask for Ruby’s medical records to be sent which I received a reply,”sure we well send them over now”. Next day no records sent had to chase them up again to eventually get them sent. The vet at Alnorthumbria advices there was a mass on her liver on examination when he said there was nothing wrong and fine at Robson Prescott. I am pleased the £2500 for scans and overnight care will go to vets who know what they are doing and more importantly do there best to prioritise an emergency for my cat Ruby. Read Less

I had known aboutRobson and Prescott for many years as the only avian specialist vet in North East, but unfortunately the main practice is nearly 20 miles away from me and I don’t drive. Then a few years ago they opened a branch near me and I was overjoyed to be able to register. Over a three year period I saw the vet twice for my budgies, the specialist care and compassion was outstanding, it really makes a massive difference to see a vet that specialises in birds, they are compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately they are now having difficulties with appointment availability. Have a very sick budgie and was told that they could offer an appointment at 9.30 at the branch 17 miles away (I don’t drive so was unable to accept). I ended the call feeling very judged (and guilty!) because i was unable to make a 35 mile round trip at short notice. Was told they now only have a vet working 2 afternoons a week at the practice where I am registered and that the earliest available slot would be in 2 weeks. This left me in a really difficult situation, desperately calling round other practices, which was difficult because many vets do not see birds and it was really upsetting to be left without help. Eventually found a local vet who see birds and were able to see my budgie the next day, and I have now changed practices. I am really sorry to have had to leave Robson and Prescott as their avian knowledge and care is absolutely outstanding, they truly are avian specialists and if you live within reasons distance of their main practice (Morpeth), or you if you have a car and you drive, I would recommend them without hesitation. However appointments at the branch local to me are so very limited and there was a 2 week wait to be seen, which in terms of animal care is obviously unacceptable, I was left with no other option than to change vets. Absolutely horrendous - please avoid!! I have been a loyal customer of robson and Prescott in Morpeth for the past two and a half years. Up to this point they have been to be fair average / good. Last night my dog was visibly trembling, crying and clearly unwell unable to sleep. I phoned my vet hoping to book my pet in for an appointment only to be told they were fully booked and had only one vet on duty who would be dealing with life or death cases only and that I could not have an appointment until the following Tuesday ( it’s currently Thursday). I proceeded to explain that my dog was clearly very unwell and in pain. Again I was told that the symptoms I offered likely meant that whatever she was suffering from was probably not life threatening and I would have to wait as explained. I attempted to convey my concern stating it was incredibly unfair and cruel to have my dog suffer for several more days not knowing if she potentially did have a life threatening condition as she had not been examined. This was rather strange to me as never before have I had been refused service. The response….. if you pay £75 then we will see the dog within the hour. All I can say is that clearly there was availability to see my dog however not without paying. I can honestly say had they said they had no appointments regardless I would have at least had more respect. All I can say is clearly money talks and if your willing to pay they can magically find appointments, this probably explains how the multi million pound state of the art practise has been able to be afforded. I digress, to me this is a neglect of duty and they should hang there heads in shame. They were obviously happy to see a poor dog suffer. I have since left the practise and would sincerely advise if you were considering this practise to avoid at all costs. Read Less

I moved up to Blyth seven years ago, and until recently had been very satisfied with Robson and Prescott and the treatment of my dogs. The staff had always been efficient and very caring towards my two Westies, both at Blyth and Morpeth. Chris had been wonderful with my four year old Millie through several operations and Jasper had been seen three or four times by other members of staff. Last week I took them to Blyth for their yearly injections and they were seen by Gordon, a vet I had not seen before. Jasper is a very placid and laidback dog, but Millie is very anxious and frightened when she knows where she is going, so when we went into the room I immediately told Gordon that on previous occasions she had been taken out to the treatment room and held by the girls while having her injection. Gordon ignored this and just told me to put her on the table and hold her. By this time she was whining and struggling and he again told me to hold her - which I was trying to do! He filled the syringe and went to put into Millie, he missed and the needle went into my jumper and then onto the floor. There was no apology from him, he just picked up the syringe and dragged Millie out to the treatment room. I was shocked by his attitude and his lack of sympathy towards Millie. I emailed the practice Manager at Morpeth to complain about his behaviour and received an apology from her, but nothing from Gordon until I wrote again asking for an explanation and an apology from him. This came a week later, full of excuses and untruths. For example, he said that I had said BOTH my dogs were anxious (that’s why he had not tried to pet or interact with them when they came in) and secondly, that I had not told him about Millie being taken outside for precious injections until after the incident - definitely untrue. He also claimed that Millie tried to bite him, when she was obviously just struggling to get away. As I said, I have always been very happy with all the staff at Robson and Prescott and don’t want to change to another practice, but will never agree for them to be treated by Gordon Cunningham. Since then, I know of at least two other dog owner who feel the same. Read Less

My 3 year old chocolate Labrador was unfortunately put to sleep on Saturday 21 April. In his short but full life both him and myself have used almost all of services from R&P. Each and every they have been superb. Whether it was routine vaccinations or the poor vet who had to put on rubber gloves to find a piece of plastic which got stuck up his backside when he ate my Mam's garden light I have had excellent service. During his life Bailey had two major knee operations and... all aspects, Surgeon, Veterinary Nurses and Hydrotherpists were brilliant. My final contact with the vets was last Saturday when I had to make an emergency call when he collapsed in pain. The on call vet and early morning staff were phenomenal, we were seen 45 minutes later conducted an emergency X-ray and gave me the devastating news later that day that he had an aggressive tumour. I picked up his remains 6 days later. When I do finally get another dog I will return and use R&P again See More Read Less

After an extremely difficult night my bunny was rushed into a different vets practice where they fought tooth and nail to try and save him sadly at 10.30 this morning the battle was over. However, I have to say that he was a happy little chappy and the sunshine of my life who did indeed make it to a ripe old age in relative comfort with a lot of thanks to you all that cared for him from 2008 to 2017. Feel like I've been robbed, I took my rescue dog which I have only had for 3 weeks to see the vet as she had smelly ears and the vet I saw immediately told me the dog was overweight! then proceeded to check heart lungs etc which I did not ask for!!! then spoke about spaying the dog which I had already booked her in for at the end of October. Vet said that receptionist staff were incompetent and should not have booked the dog for 8 weeks after last day of being in season, according to this vet that's not long enough and I need to wait 12 weeks, eventually after telling me everything I was doing wrong! bearing in mind this poor dog is an 7yrs old ex breeding dog that has never seen daylight or even been out of a crate and didn't know how to walk or run or play or chew a chewstick the dog has plenty of issues and least worrying is a few pounds overweight! I wanted to get her ears checked and some medication to sort them out. she doesn't have mites, it's a dirty build up of wax and yeast ,I paid just over £60 and still haven't got any drops or ear cleaner! won't be going back.Read Less

It seems like they're not there to help animals, only there to 'sort them out' like they're a burden to the vets working there. We took an injured bird there that our whole family had loved, and they put him down although he could have been helped as one leg was functioning, meaning the other could have been supported using something as cheap as a stick. Because the bird was 'wild', we weren't allowed to stop them from putting him down. I wish we never took him there. Read Less

Robson & Prescott were our Vets for years then the Practice became too big with too many Vets and too many trainees. We found we were never seeing the same Vet twice. How could they compare progress if they had not seen our pet before? We also found that they were sending out very inexperienced newly qualified Vets to practise on our ponies. Often they got the diagnosis wrong but we still got a big bill for their mistakes. On one occasion, an elderly pony had two bad abscesses, one on a near fore foot and one on an off hind foot. The inexperienced Vet, straight out of Edinburgh Vet school, hacked away at both feet. How was the poor pony supposed to stand up? Four years ago, In desperation we switched to Vets4Pets in Pets at Home where our pets always saw the same Vet and where we have always had superb care. Read Less

I spoke with the killing worth vets to find out how much it would cost to get my dogs teeth cleaned as my vets were going to cost a lot. The receptionist told me that she could not tell me a price over the phone but asked if I could pop in with my dog for a free consultation. So I took my dog in and the vet count not give me a proper price other than it could be between 250-350. Left thinking I would get it done after xmas to be sent a invoice of 29.ish for the consultation. Spoke to head office in Morpeth and told them what happened and they said they would look into it, sent me another invoice reducing the bill by 10 and saying the receptionist made a mistake however consultations are not free so they have reduced the bill. Total joke and a bunch of liars. Now they want to send dept collectors to collect their money.
