Disgraceful service! We gave you his entire medical history - the receptionist even scanned it into the system - yet the vet still finds it necessary to write everything down which we have already told you and that should be on his record. This is the second time you have messed up our dog's medication - first you give us the wrong dosage and then you don't even put it through in the first place! He is a very nervous dog, and although he does not need a muzzle, he has to wear one at the vets for some reason. He has no intention of biting, yet the vet seems to think that because he is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that he will bite. As a result of this, the vet decided to ask my mum to put his muzzle on. As we expected, he tried to paw it off yet the vet did not seem to care that he was clearly upset! I'm not surprised that he wouldn't go anywhere near her! You have now been successful in making him even more nervous. We will be removing Ziggy from this vet, and our cat Millie too. Read Less

We took our Cat to this vet after we suspected she had been hit by a car. We had 2 different vets give completely different diagnosis one saying she would be fine another saying full xray and dental work required. We were told that the work would be covered under our insurance and did a direct claim but then when the claim went through they told the insurance company the issue had nothing to do with the RTA and we have been left with a £400 bill. Of which includes interest and a late payment charge when we have been trying to discuss the charges with them. They also were very quick to hand it over to a collections company while we were still waiting for an explanation from them. The practice manager is full of lies and told us the work had to be completed due to the welfare of the cat but she had no problem with taking on food and was clearly not in any pain. The way they treat customers after the work is completed is disgusting and they are only in it for money. Absolute scammers!!!! Read Less

These people are miracle workers!! Had a cat and a dog treated by them. The cat was only 4 and had a virus that should have killed him temperature was off the scales like the vet had never seen without an animal fitting and dying they bought him back from the brink. Our 13 year old dog had a stroke. We thought they would tell us to put him down instead they had him over night and he's just come back home and apart from being a bit wobbly on his legs (which should improve in time) he's as good as he was before fingers crossed for his continued improvement. wendy higton, sorry to hear about your dog. i don't fully trust vets anymore . I lost my healthy hamster due to a vet at long eaton's ashfield house vets, giving me fuciderm to treat a skin irritation he had. After placing this on his skin , he later had breathing problems and his belly was swollen/expanded, i took him back to the same vet only she said she didn't want to give him anything and to monitor him. So i took him back home, he then suffered for 2 weeks before taking him back to the vet, by which time he died. The vets say it wasn't fuciderm but i know it was. I have a rabbit now and my rabbit kept having urine around his legs, the vet there there wanted to 'flush him out' and because i didn't trust vets anymore, i wasn't going to let her do that. instead i looked into it myself and tried a paper litter (no chemicals etc) , and it worked , it stopped the problem and my rabbit no longer has urine on his legs. I am just sorry i lost my healthy hamster listening to a vet and he suffered. I should have just tried organic aloe vera gel and salt water to heal the skin. We rushed our 5 y/o Maltese here as an emergency at midnight on Sunday the 8th of Jan, within an hour of him not being able to urinate due to a calcium-oxylate stone lodged in his urethra. Now, when treated immediately and adequately with surgery, medication and constant monitoring, the prognosis is good, however he took a sudden decline. What followed was incredibly stressful and painful for our beautiful boy and sadly we had to do the unthinkable. I genuinely think that although Ashfield operate in a compassionate manner, I'm not convinced that the person who was responsible for him when I took him in acted swiftly enough. I also believe that there was a lack of knowledge regarding the Maltese breed across the surgeons and nurses, as a result I believe some of his symptoms were misunderstood. I have learnt much from this experience. If you are looking for generic care for your pets, Ashfield will probably suffice. But if you need somewhere in an emergency that can really make a difference when it matters, in my opinion you should look elsewhere. (I haven't mentioned names here because that would be unreasonable of me, despite the upset).Read Less

This would usually be a 5 star but after bringing our cat for a worming tablet today 17/12/16 appointment 14.10 we were made to feel useless by the vet . She found it difficult to understand that we prefer to bring her in for her tablet , we found her extremely cold and quite frankly rude ...she made no effort to interact with our cat and struggled herself to give the tablet ....Please check your records and you'll see who we are ! Can you make a note that we never want our cat to be treated by her again .... She is NOT an asset to your practice ,we have never been disappointed before today . Read Less
