Absolutely love this vets. Jackie is fab and remembered me and my other pets from years back before I moved. Claudette was fantastic with my nervous dog, she took her time, started to bond and build trust with her and managed to get her first full health check done in 2 years when many other vets have failed. Another young lad (sorry I didn't get his mame) also made an effort to comfort Quinn, offering her treats and fuss at reception whilst I re registered the rest of my gang! All round the best vets in Nottingham and the best visit Quinn has ever had to any vet. Thank you. Read Less

From ringing up on Tuesday and being asked to come almost straight down for an urgent appointment, to Scone being admitted by Charlotte for 30hrs, I was kept informed how she was doing, what her results showed and was always reassured that Scone was in the best hands. We rushed our 5 y/o Maltese here as an emergency at midnight on Sunday the 8th of Jan, within an hour of him not being able to urinate due to a calcium-oxylate stone lodged in his urethra. Now, when treated immediately and adequately with surgery, medication and constant monitoring, the prognosis is good, however he took a sudden decline. What followed was incredibly stressful and painful for our beautiful boy and sadly we had to do the unthinkable. I genuinely think that although Ashfield operate in a compassionate manner, I'm not convinced that the person who was responsible for him when I took him in acted swiftly enough. I also believe that there was a lack of knowledge regarding the Maltese breed across the surgeons and nurses, as a result I believe some of his symptoms were misunderstood. I have learnt much from this experience. If you are looking for generic care for your pets, Ashfield will probably suffice. But if you need somewhere in an emergency that can really make a difference when it matters, in my opinion you should look elsewhere. (I haven't mentioned names here because that would be unreasonable of me, despite the upset).Read Less

I have stopped asking my son to take my guinea pigs here due to a number of reasons. 1. Last year one of the female sows was taken to see a vet who said she would need a scan which was fine, but... you can't have them scanned at that surgery, you have to go to Ashfield Pet Hospital, the vet said he would speak to another to arrange for the sow to have a scan, only when I called they said she couldn't do it on that day, they then messed me around for a further 2 - 3 weeks because the vet I was meant to speak to was on "funny" shifts, which I know can't be helped but to keep clients waiting like this is a bit bad and not a very good reflection on their surgery. 2. My son took another of our guinea's who has bladder and kidney stones, my son was trying to explain what was happening etc. and due to her butting in every 5 seconds she made untrue assumptions and tried to say she could take our guinea's kidney out for us... and yet I've been told only a VERY good surgeon could do it and she was never recommended, not by one person, not even someone she works with, she assumed he had the stones due to his diet, wrong! His diet along with the other 9 guinea's had been researched and changed so it's not too high in calcium, she assumed he was squeaking when urinating.. again wrong! It was when he was passing feces. Then after my son calling me Mum to her she called me his partner. A totally ignorant and not so nice person in my opinion, not what a person looks for when they want advice for their sick animal.
