If I could score them lower than 1 star I would. Liars, con artists and thieves who don't care about the well being of animals at all. Would rather leave 2 dogs sat outside their building in 28 degree heat with no access to water, than refund a payment that was conned out of us in the first place. Refusal to refund £45 paid for a consult that they then refused to carry out. Do not give them any money over the phone. Female Co-owner is also one of the rudest individuals I've ever encountered. Reporting to RCVS and small claims court. Utter, utter scum bags. As a warning to anyone considering registering with this place as a new client... don't... Talking to a lady at the local Nottingham Dog park, age recommended Castle Veterinary Centre, to which I replied, "Oh I haven't needed the vet's in ages!" Cut to an hour later, my lovely dog Foxi has caught her dewclaw and twisted it. I was able to get an appointment that day for her to be seen. She's very nervous at the vet but the excellent team calmed her down, sorted it out and bandaged her up. Thank you to Ewan and his team for the amazing service, and for keeping COVID safety at the forefront of their practice. Foxi is home and well and living for the drama of it all! Read Less

We found the quality of care very good and the nurses were excellent. My issue is with the amount they charged. On our initial consultation, we were charged twice because the vet recommended blood tests. Because we were briefed on the blood tests, she felt justified in billing twice. If we were warned about such practice, we would at least have the information to make the decision. They also charge 12 per prescription which I've never encountered before, and on the final visit they said there was a small discount on the consultation. Small is correct. It was less than 2 off. In summary, while the care might be informed they do have questionable billing practices - a buyer beware scenario. Read Less

Extremely disappointed with the treatment received, we always had high expectations from this veterinary centre as they had previously helped my Peacock when he developed an abscess under his eye. Prior to contacting we were already seeking advice from a different veterinary centre, but still chose to obtain a second opinion from Castle Veterinary, as our peacock was treated. Ignorantly, the staffs at this centre were under the impression they were the first ones to assess our kitten & questioned our care in a patronising manner. My 9 week old kitten had an ulcerated eye, we felt we were putting our baby in what we thought were capable hands. The vet at this centre did not even wipe the infected area with purified water and immediately tore the ulcerated eye lid apart. My baby was in trauma & cried, the hair around the eye was then plucked disturbingly, making the eye visibly out of the socket! We have always been gentle with our pets and wiped any grazes with warm water & cotton wool; so basically at this centre we were paying them mis-treat our kitten, cause pain and receive patronising behaviour! I was devastated & cursed the second I came here for a second opinion! Previously, my older cat had an ulcerated eye & has recovered completely using cornea repair gel, unfortunately with the treatment my kitten received saving the eye in sadly no longer an option (which makes my heart turn). Furthermore, only IV antibiotics/pain relief was administered and we were demanded to bring him the next day for an operation! (No advice or procedures were discussed & no oral medicine was prescribed). We did not agree with this as my baby had already been through so much trauma. The staff at this place had then the AUDACITY to report us to the RSPCA & leave a voicemail stating they were disappointed in us! We had already made arrangements with another veterinary centre who attended to our baby so gently & calmly. Furthermore, they ACTUALLY gave us oral antibiotics & pain relief advising us to carry out surgery in 1-2 days, they explained this will give the antibiotics time to work & also to relieve trauma. NO advice was given to us at the Castle practice & I felt it was all about the money for them. I am now relieved my baby is in safe hands & actions have been taken to ensure his well being. I believe as a pet owner we have every right to seek additional advice & choose vets we feel comfortable with. We have informed the RSPCA of all the events taken place, as we are responsible citizens of this society. We will be raising a complaint to the BVA. Just because animals cant speak/express their pain doesnt mean we should sit there as spectators!Read Less

I have never been treated with such disrespect from another "professional" in all of my 11 dog owning years than I have today at this veterinary practice. I have been patronised to the point where the care of my (much loved) dogs has been questioned, as has my busy lifestyle(!) Bearing in mind the vet was 10 minutes late for my appointment, when I informed her that I was then in a rush to pick up my car from its MOT before the garage closed, was told by the vet - "you and your partner are always in too much of a rush for us to complete the appropriate tests to get the right information regarding treatment". Is 20-30 minutes not enough? That's the average timeframe our appotinments have been. The price of their treatment and medications are more expensive than any other vets I have been to. One of our westies has diabtees so has daily injections of caninsulin - the caninsulin here is around 10 more expensive than at our previous vets. When I told them this and asked for a full breakdown of all costs - the response was "well why did you come here then?" I could go on - this was just one small part of my awful appointment today - but it upsets me too much to think that someone (a "professional veterinary practitioner") believes that I do not fully care for the two little dogs I hold most dear and makes me feel like I have mistreated them. How very wrong can someone be, yet dare to speak their mind so openly in a suposed professional manner?? I truly am disgusted and extremely upset with this practice. Read Less

Be very wary of these guys! Once they know you are insured they will rinse you for every penny. When my dog was ill I was given the wrong medication which had no effect and prolonged the suffering of my dog. I was also asked to return to the vets 3 times in one week and charged 30 a time to which no treatment was actually given, the literally just looked at my dog. After looking in to what I was charged I have reported them to trading standards. A tube of eye cream which costs 25 at a standard retailer cost me 60, they prescribed two of these. Also they charged me 3 per tablet when they are actually 19p each to purchase. They don't tell you how much things cost and don't give receipts. I was only aware of the extortionate prices after checking my claim forms. Even my insurer was questioning the validity of the amount of consultation fees and medication prescribed. At one point my dog was on two sets of eye drop and 4 different types of tablets. After experiencing the same problem I took my dog to a different vet who only prescribed one form of medication and asked me to return within a week which worked. Sadly I don't believe that this vets care about the well being of your animal, they are happy to prolong suffering and prescribe unnecessary medication if they know that the insurance companies are footing the bill. After 4 years I have finally left this place and have found a better vet in the city centre. Read Less
