My brothers Dog summer as been with this vet 14 years, alway had a positive experience, blonde lady on reception always very helpful and makes you feel welcome! However on March the 20th summer have to be put to sleep 😟. We went in was given a private room straight away which was nice as summers back legs had fully gone. The male vet came in, I explained we had come to end summers life 😪. He said ok Went out no talking or looking at summer, he came back with a lovely assistant. Summer was now uneasy as he took hold of her paw sharply! Still no talking or empathy! I asked have you meet summer before he said can’t say I remember her! Assistant said I know summer and stroked her. I had to hold summers head as she was distressed as he pulled her paw and stuck the needle straight in! Summer then starter gasping for air at least 5 times then was gone 😪 the whole situation was cold harsh and a heart breaking end to such a beautiful loyal submissive friend. I have rated my 2 stars on one persons unempathic approach! But I stand by on the whole the practice in the past as been very good and understanding with my brother and his dog. Read Less

Took our parson terrier in and misdiagnosed him twice which almost cost him his life... First one was a throt infection second was neurological, this in a space of two days. We were no happy so we went to vets for pets the next day for a second opinion and with in seconds they diagnosed him with tetanus, then with in 15 mins my dog stopped breathing with a temperature off 42 degrees, luckily the vets there are amazing and he's now on the mend... I've used medi vet twice now and both times have been very bad experiences for me.... Never again Read Less

This has been our regular vets for our dog since she was a puppy. Took her here in August 2016 when she was unwell and left her there whilst they did an ultrasound and bloods. Got a phone call from a junior vet saying that we had 15 minutes to decide if we put her through surgery to remove her spleen or put her down! We did neither and took her to a specialist vets and all she had was an infection! They were wanting to put a healthy dog down or remove a healthy spleen. We were told after by a senior vet and partner that their ultrasound machine is quite old so therefore not very good. I would not recommend these vets at all after this poor experience!! Read Less

My 14yr old cats has been seen several times this year, at this place, after losing weight (she had been 11lb until Feb this year) (despite being fed 4 times a day).  Symptoms of vomiting, hunger, lethargy, sleeping a LOT, poor coat condition, etc., seemed to suggest thyroid or liver problems, so 2 weeks ago, vet did blood tests (£146), said they were all ok, didn't suggest anything else - no diagnosis, treatment, tests were offered.  Mr Giffin never spoke to my cat (or the other 2 I've taken ther), never explained anything, didn't seem very interested.  When this cat had some teeth out in Feb, I asked him how many.  His reply- "between 4 and 9".!She now weighs 5lb, and has been VERY unwell, so I went to a different vet yesterday - I rang her first, asked for advice - the new vet diagnosed IBD (intestinal disease) OVER THE 'PHONE, then upon examination of the cat , prescribed a course of tablets, a change in diet, and gave her 2 injections.  Today - a different cat!  Eating, she's happier, comfortable, and behaving normally. All 3 of my cats will go to the new vet in future, NEVER AGAIN to ARNWOOD on Winchester Street.  QUACKS - I would urge anyone who takes their pets here to get a 2nd opinion elsewhere, if they are not satisfied - so glad I did that.  I had envisaged having to have my poor cat euthanised.  The terrible thing is that she's been ill for some time, and with a bit of care and medication, she could have been fine ages ago Read Less
