The service is beyond shocking! I had an equine vet out to castrate my pony because he mis diagnosed him as a gelding 3 times!!! In his mess up he gave me a set price to have the colt cut to then have an invoice of almost double! After disputing the amount of the bill with himself and the receptionist over numerous occasions he has sent my partner a very nasty email as we said we would not be using them again! I’m appalled at the treatment I’ve had from Greg the equine vet right from the start and the problems he has caused. If anything he should of done a blood test to be sure but instead told myself, my partner and a friend he was a gelding 3 times. Would not use this practice again and definitely will not be recommending them to anyone, very disappointed. Read Less

Worst vets I have ever been to in my life all about money there. No genuine care for the animals. Wanted me to put my dog down just because I couldn't afford their price to have her broken leg amputated (which another vets not a only said it was wrong but they saved my dogs leg and she runs happily playing now) so be advised if you would like your pet/animal to be treated to the pets beneifit not the vets profit go somewhere else!!!. We have been with Portland House for the past 4 years and have never had any problems. There have been 2 occasions when my dog needed medical help and they were there. Both times it was out of hours as well and they were so happy to help us. It's heartbreaking when your pet is ill and needs help, and the vets have only ever done their best. The very next vets I phoned gave me a quote of 19.98, Seems Portland house is aimed at the well off and getting maximum profit. Would recommend Portland house vets to anyone!!! They have been amazing thoughtful the years and more so the past year with our Rottweiler Tia who suffered with Diabetes. The only experience with Greg was to vaccinate one of my horses and he was fantastic with him, I have had one experience with Jo dealing with one of our horses with colic and again she was brilliant with him and helped him a lot. my experience with Lindsey when she had To also attend the horse with colic was fantastic, although we ended up loosing the poor horse Lindsey did her absolute best with him and was so understanding and sympathetic when we had him put to sleep. I am a BHS instructor with 28 years horse experience behind me working on professional competition yards travelling around the country to top shows meeting many vets in my time and this is by far the worst equine practice I have come across. My farrier removed a foreign body from my horses foot and said poultice it but if it gets worse and she becomes lame you will need antibiotics. I rang this practice and they came out and said I can't give you antibiotics until we have puss coming out and foot is very hard so we need to soften it so poultice it and see, next day ring them, I have puss? carry on poulticing unless swollen I can't give you antibiotics? but she is getting really lame? no carry on poulticing we will xray to see what is going on next week? Why do that is it not the foreign body farrier pulled out then? A week after first asking I have a hopping lame horse with a massive leg which is not eating and in severe pain and they did finally issue antibiotics as I said I want some or I am getting another vet? vet said yes but told me I must clear my account first which I did no problem as I just wanted my horse better. I was a new customer so all told with 2 visits and drugs I owed less than 200. Don't listen to customers at all avoid them at all costs.Read Less

Absolutely excellent, we asked them to give us a second opinion on one if our horses and we are so glad we did, very professional, understanding, and easy to talk to.
