The vet consultation itself is fine, I have a bunny who is very timid and the slightest thing can slow his digestion down. The first time it cost about £70 for injection, consultation and a bit of medicine but each time the price has gotten higher, paying over £100 last time. 5 stars regarding the quality of care for your pet, with reminders sent through post in case you forget a worming/flea juice or booster is due. my only complaint, same as with any human doctor/dentist appointment, you can be waiting a long time to be seen once you get there. does not do out of hours service, nearest one is alfreton i believe. disabled access with parking right outside the building or the lay-by opposite a roads width away. Excellent service and the staff are dedicated to their work. Like most vets in the world it is a pricey trip to see them with any animal. Waiting times could do with improvement and could do with offering some good addtional packages to reduce costs but apart from that its the best vets for the area. Read Less

This veterinary practice is absolutely amazing. My precious little dog would not be here today if I had listened to the advice of another vets not to far away in Sutton. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff are so supportive and obviously care very much about their clients (with fur and without!) Excellent, I gave been taking my Jack to Shannon Lodge for the past 16 years, everyone is most helpful and have a real passion for animals of all kinds. Claire Sullivan has a really good 'bedside nanner' with pets and cares about the owner too, I cannot fault any if them there. Read Less

I have been using Shannon Lodge vets for the last 3 years and I have to say I have been completely happy with the service. When my dog became ill recently they were more than happy to stay open late and all rallied round to help save my dog. The outcome wouldn't be the same if it weren't for the dedication of the staff. Agree with the other comment, vet was just out for what would cost more ,no compassion!! giving injections and tablets to prolong it when it was surgery what was needed had we not gone elsewhere for a second opinion she would've died waiting. horrible person. My dog has recently been treated by Vet Aaron Gilmore with a persistent cough. During my numerous visits I have let Aaron know that I am very short of money and unable to pay for expensive treatments. On our first visit he let us know he found the case interesting and wanted to do full chest x-rays, heart scans and other tests, I got the feeling this was very much like a case study he wanted to do. I let him know that we could not afford this as the bill would be well over 250 just for tests (no treatment) and a he even admitted there was a good possibility it would not be at all conclusive. Over the last few months he has repeatedly tried to guilt my wife into having these expensive procedures, even after I asked him to stop trying to convince her to take the treatment. When I made my last visit he started an argument with me in front of my 6 month old son when I again refused to take this route of testing, he very sternly told be about my moral obligation and responsibility. My dog is nearly 17 years old and I have paid for 6 visits trying various things to help my dog, I am fully aware of my responsibility and it hurt me greatly that someone would accuse me of not caring. Money is not an issue to those who possess it. It is a shame but the cheap options were all I had available to me as my priorities are keeping a roof over my wife and child's head. This vet was obsessed with diagnostic testing when trying a few different drugs is much cheaper. He did not care for my animal and seemed only bothered about doing it the way he wanted to which coincidentally was the most expensive and profitable route. I am currently in the process of drafting a formal complaint to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons where I will hopefully put together a much more succinct complaint.
