General Info
We promise to do all we can to provide your pet with the best possible care and to make sure that you always receive friendly advice and support. We're so committed to this, we've put our Client and Patient Charter Pledges on the wall of our clinics.
Did you know, Medivet is actually a big community of vets, nurses and other professionals, giving you access to a great wealth of facilities and expertise? We're so committed to continuity of care across all our branches that we've made sure that the notes we have on all animals is available at all of our branches, all the time, via our high-tech, specially developed computer systems.
We promise that there will always be a veterinary surgeon available to look after your animal, day or night. We even have special 24-hour clinics in some areas, where vets and nurses are on duty all day and all night, every day of the year. These are our 24hr Continuous Care and Emergency Centres.
We volunteer to have all our clinics regulated by our governing body, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Their Practice Standards Scheme ensures a consistently high standard of care, equipment and facilities for all our patients. Look out for the certificate awarded to your local practice, proudly on display!
We're really looking forward to getting to know your whole family, including the human members, and to doing all we can to make your pets' lives long and healthy. If you have any questions about Medivet’s services, standards or facilities please feel free to call us at any one of our clinics.

I must start by saying that a review cannot incorporate the horror that I experienced with Medivet Woodstock. The six-page letter, literally documenting point-by-point what happened while my cat was in their care, was the only thing that could really encompass the severity of the situation, as well as the incompetence of the practice. I should note here that Medivet did respond to that letter, and they did remove the £1400 bill they tried to charge us for nearly killing our cat. So, the short of it is that my cat was poorly and I took her to the out-of-hours on a Sunday evening. She remained in their care for 30 hours, during which time, they pumped her full of fluids for dehydration. No clinical diagnosis was made and I had to press the second of three vets that treated her for information regarding the diagnosis and any potential tests that could be used in finding a diagnosis. I am not a veterinarian and yet, I felt like I suddenly had to research to help my cat. It was shocking. I was told that "as she was insured," they could run additional tests, but that, if she wasn't insured, the vet would just send her home. At this point, my 7-year-old cat's legs kept coming out from under her and her belly was sore upon palpation, but this vet insisted that treatment would be the same--fluids--regardless of a diagnosis. There was absolutely no sense of urgency in what I knew was a dire situation based on her usual nature. After an inconclusive ultrasound, the third vet, on a night shift, suggested that our cat have a very expensive, emergency surgery at 10pm (after our girl had been with them, again, for 30 hours) for a potential blockage--though she insisted she couldn't be sure a blockage was there as she "didn't perform the ultrasound". When I asked about the imaging, she said she could only go on what the other vet had told her and she hadn't seen the images herself. (What is this nonsense??) At this point, I ended up phoning another practice that had out-of-hours care as my intuition told me everything about the situation was wrong--and it's good I did. Within hours at the other practice, our cat was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The fluids Medivet Woodstock pumped into her were actually filling her lungs and gradually drowning her. By the time she was with the new vet, she could hardly breathe. Let me reiterate that THREE Medivet vets saw her--all saying no diagnosis was achievable, all while they were killing her. Again, Medivet tried to charge me £1400 for this initially, but after the letter I sent them, documenting point-by-point what happened, they removed this charge. They also informed me that the third vet was no longer part of their practice as a result of this and other complaints. Nonetheless, they did not address any of the additional points about their handover procedures, the attitude of the second veterinarian, etc. (presumably because it would legally implicate them). We, unsurprisingly, have switched all our animals over to a different practice now.... Read Less

I have been with medivet risedale for in excess of 10 years. I cannot rate them high enough for being friendly or caring. Their extremely helpful and they go that extra mile on many occasions. I have 2 cats and 1 dog and sadly I had to say goodbye to her in 2015. To her the vets was her second home and she loved going there. The whole process of saying goodbye was extremely hard but to their credit all the staff were brilliant in what was a very sad day and I know that they care so passionately about all the animals that cross their threshold. I now have another dog who I rescued and was nervous but after a couple of visits she now loves going there too. I consider myself very lucky to have such a wonderful team looking after my babies because that's exactly what they are and I am never worried about leaving them there because I know they will always look after them as if they were their own. So Risedale. Kyumi Nicola Steph Sarah Rachael you are all awesome and do a brilliant job. I know you will always keep up the good work. Thankyou.Read Less

My dog Molly had treatment in the Carpenders park branch for a lump on her eye, she had it removed all seemed good regarding payment from the insurance then I was asked for 54.74 extra, why I asked when I was covered and had paid my excess of 80, it seemed they went for a very expensive HISTOLOGY test rather than the 62.98, rather than asking me if this was alright they tried to get it of my insurers, and they said they will not cover it, as it was unnecessary. I then had a nasty letter from Medivet saying this can't continue, and payment had to be made !!!!!!!! , I had never received a letter from then about any money, so I rang the branch at Carpenders Park and asked what was going on, the receptionist took the message and said she will look into it, nothing happened, so a week later went it there and asked what was happening, she took a message and said she will get back to me, again nothing, then Anna was on holiday so another message was left, why should I pay extra money for something that was NOT neccary and no one at this branch knew why it was charged, was unhappy and think I will be taking my 2 dogs elsewhere for treatment as I feel the trust has gone which is a shame as I have been going there for 6 years Not happy at all, I know you have to make money but reallyRead Less

I call the emergency clinic out of hours as my 11 years old Cocker Spaniel had been vomiting blood overnight and the person I got on the phone was ever so nice and friendly, understood my stress but mentioned the extra cost of coming out of hours and that I could wait for the normal opening hours at my usual vet, but if I preferred I could also bring Moja straight away. 30' later the night vet on duty that received us gave an examination to Moja and gave me some choices also explaining clearly the cost involved and not trying to take advantage but genuinely concerned by the well being of my dog with a kind friendly and caring attitude. The partner vet kindly called me a couple of hours later after thoroughly examining Moja and caring my normal vet practice for history, Dimitar Mitev gave me a clear update over the phone and explained the options for the treatment and additional tests that would be necessary, without being pushy or over dramatic about the diagnostic of the disease, I felt that Moja was in good hand and well cared for and looked after. I got regular updates about the well being and status of the disease for Moja, was allowed to come to visit her every day, were a consultation room was open for me to have sometime alone with Moja and all the staff of the practices were ever so kind, friendly and genuinely caring for the animals, getting excited when progress were made and especially when Moja eventually started eating again! The Vet and receptionist all made sure the cost were covered by my insurance, helped me understanding the policy and excesses, and filled up all the necessary paperwork for me so I did not had to worry about these in this stressful time. I have now decided to switch my usual veterinary practice to MediVet Woodstock even if it is much further away from my house, as I never found this level of caring, friendliness and professionalism in any of the other 3 practices I have visited in Oxford! A big thank you to Dimitar and all the team at mediVet Woodstock for looking so well after Moja and make her healthy again!! :) Read Less
