Been coming to abbey vets since i was a kid now im a "grown up" with my own animals ive continued to bring them to abbey, unfortunately i had to have my beautiful old dog put to sleep on january 8th, for a heart breaking appt the vet who asssited was truly amazing! Fast forward to march i phoned at 2.45 asking for an appt with my new pup as i wanted to get something checked out, we were being seen at 4pm the same day and being put totally at ease whilst my lil man was having an x-ray, along with quite a few cwtches, wouldn't take my pets any where else. Really pleased with our trip to abbey vets today. Took our indoor cat out in bad weather to get to our appointment. She was not a happy kitty when my partner arrived. As there would have been long to wait just for a flea collar a student (Sian) came out and helped expedite the process . Our kitty was checked up and given her collar. I've always taken my dog here, last year my dog hurt his leg. They said he needed an X-ray and to do this they need him to be put under. When my husband picked him up and brought him home on a Thursday I noticed a nasty mark on his neck where they shaved him, Fri he seemed to be unwell, by the Sat he was a lot worse. I phoned for advice and asked why did they shave his neck and that I thought it was infected. By the Sat night I had to rush him to Abergavenny, he wasn't responding to my voice and his eyes were rolling, very worrying times! They gave him 2 injections and some cream and wanted him to stay in over night but I said I would rather look after him myself. After paying nearly £200 initially, they charged me again for out of hours and the medication from their negligence, very disappointed with their attitude!! Read Less

My daughters cat was attacked and had a badly injured hind leg. Abbey Vets took her in and amputated the leg and within 10 days she has healed completely and had her stitches out and can do everything she could do before. She jumps, runs, has caught a mouse and chased birds and rabbits. We were very trepidatious but were advised it was the best course of action and they were correct. Abbey vets have always been great with my dogs and even my chickens! Always very compassionate and caring. Expensive, well yes but most vets are and I can't bring myself to trust someone who calls themselves cheap. Read Less

I am not one to write such a negative review but due to your attitude towards me and what happened I feel the need to warn people of your practice. My dog went in with poisoning after eating chewing gum all was fine he was monitored overnight and I went to collect him the following day to be told they had something 'embarrassing to tell me' I was then told they had sedated my dog instead of the dog they were supposed to sedate! This was very worrying due to the type of breed I have and the size difference in each dog, not that abbey were concerned they sent him home in a complete state! And had the audacity to get me to pay my insurance excess and proceeding to rinse my insurance of nearly 800.00! Abbey told me that they would change their protocol but that doesn't help me does it! It's happened to MY dog! I wasn't even offered the excess back as a gesture of good will! I'm glad your got all your money though abbey vets!!Read Less

Would highly recommend abbey vets, my dog was coughing all night so they did xrays just incase and there was a fish hook stuck in his throat! He went in at 1.00pm and was able to pick him up at 5.00pm, luckly the hook wasn't in his stomach. all staff seemed very caring! Thanks Read Less

I would never use this practice again after paying 400 at 5 I was taking my dog back in at 5.10 to be put to sleep which cost a futher 110 I left with tablets that They prescribed for my dog wasn't even offered a discount or the tablets back and no answers as to why my dogs poor heart condition wasn't picked up before they operated so let down its not about the animal it's all about the money down there Read Less

Today we had to have one of our chickens euthanized. We had a choice of vets much nearer and chose Abbey because they had vets who know chickens. We saw a young lady vet who was beyond superb in bedside manner and all aspects. Youth is no bar to talent! Well worth the 40 miles round trip. I cannot praise this practice enough . Thank you .
