Normally I am very happy with our appointments here however I did not have a huge amount of confidence in the vet on this visit. I have never seen this one before Seemed very fumbly and unsure of what to do next and have suggested an ultrasound. Not happy about this being suggested so early on without even blood work being done. I do not want to put my dog under anaesthesia unless it is 100% necessary, and all other avenues have been exhausted. As a result we are seeking a second opinion before proceeding. Read Less

I can't recommend Bute and Cowal vets enough. I recently had to say goodbye to my cat of nearly 13 years. We got some very bad news and his prognosis wasn't good, within a very short time, we had to make the decision to put him to sleep. It happened late in the evening and we had to call Catriona out. The care and consideration I was shown was amazing, from the moment Emma gave us the terrible news, to Catriona's call out and the genuine warmth from all your wonderful staff, even getting a very big hug when we left to take Baxter home to put him to rest. Today was just a normal day. Who knew how it would end. My cat Mr Bond became unwell and having just moved to the area had to choose a vet quickly. With the symptoms shared on the phone, I was seen within the hour and Catriona was very personal, friendly, helpful and professional. A clear course of events was explained in an easy to understand manner and pricing was offered before treatment began. Mr Bond was kept in whilst we headed home, but within 20 minutes I received a phone call with the prognosis. Unfortunately it was not the news I expected or wanted to hear, but Catriona gave many options and time to consider them. The right thing to do was euthanasia and Catriona allowed us to be present. Plenty of time to say our good-bye's and ample time on our own with him before we brought him home. Catriona also offered for us to call at anytime if we needed support or to talk. She understood that our Mr Bond was part of the family and was as important to us as any other family member. My last vets in Midlothian were amazing, but this service was above and beyond the call of duty and it is reassuring to know our other pets will be in the hands of the very best. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending them. Thank you very much.Read Less
