I do not recommend this place, the most important thing for them is money, not animal health. we lost puppies because of them and we have almost lost mum. We went there during labor we already had one puppy, they did not want to do a caesarean or keep us there, we live 45 minutes from barnsley. On the way home we went to another vet who said we were crawling for a moment and we would lose a bitch with the rest of the puppies. I believe that in such places the most important thing is money not the health of animals. Luckily other vet check the bitch and decided to make emergency cesarean. Thanks too them we save mum and 10 pups. Unfortunately we lost 1 which in Abbey vets didn't want to take care off. Now have to pay £70 bill for not checking properly bitch and puppy even if was there only for 1 minute just to get told to go home. Read Less

Stephen Capon, Deepcar - worst vet I've ever had the misfortune to visit. First question you are asked when you walk through the door is "are you insured". The bill then just goes up and up..... Not an animal lover at all, my animal hated him, no bedside manner at all. Stephen Capon is rude, obnoxious, disgusting and deserves to have no customers at all due to way he treats them. Avoid like the plague! I know of someone who was told 5 years ago her cat had a stomach tumour (she had the cat insured), amazingly after a visits and lots of worry, she decided not to have any cancer treatment - guess what? He'd made a mistake and the cat is now cured of cancer, never had it in the first place..total con artist..... Read Less

I cannot put NO STARS but I would have if I could have...I would NOT recommend this practice. We have had nothing but incompetency!! and now our beloved family pet has had to be put to sleep and we find total insensitivity! Money HAD to change hands before the injection was even administered. And now, after the promise of a call to collect his ashes my sister has had to ring them and be told that he is there waiting to be picked up! Our Labrador has always been very nervous when visiting and we thought the various vets we had seen over the years (visits only for annual vaccination) had been sympathetic to this as the visits were both traumatising for our dog and upsetting for us. However, having made a claim on our pet insurance recently when he had been ill we got a copy of his record held on Abbey's computer file and the comments were far from sympathetic labelling him 'a nightmare' and 'aggressive' - I've never come across an aggressive Labrador and for nightmare read traumatised - very hurtful comments not made to our face dispelling what we thought had been a sympathetic caring service - we have registered elsewhere and wont be back!

My father even rang last week and was told that she (my sister) would receive a call. Terrible service and I am disgusted. Read Less
