In experienced staff, they make it as hard as possible to refer your pet to a better practice, two very bad experiences with them, the first telling me they do exactly same job as an orthepdic surgery when my dog broke his leg, they wanted to externally plate my dogs leg then when that failed amputate, made the decision to get my dog to dovecoats orthepidic Vets who went in internally and saved my dogs leg. The second experience my dog was very poorly not eating or drinking, clearly in pain. Tablets given to take with food knowing he wouldn’t even eat, no other alternative to find out what was actually wrong with him, decided to go back to my original vets even though they are further away he is now on the mend after blood test and full examination and treatment. Even though I have moved areas I would rather travel further to get the best care. I have been using Chapel House Vets for approximately 3 years now, with my 2 cats. This was on recommendation of a friend who had used them for a number of years before that. In my time as a customer, I have found all staff to be excellent, both front of house and the vets themselves. Appointments are booked quickly and staff do their best to fit you in as quickly and conveniently as possible. Any questions are answered knowledgeably and courteously, no matter how innocuous or obvious they may be. The vets at Chapel House have never been less than excellent in all my dealings with them and have been fantastic in all dealings with the cats. I also like the fact that they are genuinely in it to look after the animals and if something is not necessary, they will say so, rather than taking your money as I have known previously elsewhere. Would definitely recommend. Read Less

I have been going to Chapel house vets for over 20 years now and having a multi animal household I have had more viists than I would have liked due to various illnesses and conditions of many cats, dogs, hamsters, rats, rabbits and a gecko! The service and professionalism is fantastic. Kathryn was especially good with Echo my gecko giving treatment that enabled him to live for another 18 months after his diagnosis and when the inevitable time came to let him go was caring and compassionate. This year has been a very bad year for me personally, my 20 year old cat Porsche was treated for kidney failure at the beginning of this year (well actually diagnosed December 2014) and this was sucessfully controlled for months and my little girl had a very good quality of life due to the expert treatment and medication by Kathryn, unfortunately she then suffered a dog attack, puncturing her skull and breaking her jaw and on taking her in for emergncy treatment underwent surgery to repair her jaw and stitch her head up which beyond belief survived at 20 years old, again due to the skillful care of chapel house, who actually didn't give much hope for a recovery due to her age, the risk of aneaesthetic and current kidney problems and little Porsche survived and went on to live for a few more months and eventually I made the heartbreaking decision to say my final goodbyes, I was given the opportunity to hold her and spend some time with her alone in privacy before letting her go peacefully to sleep. In March this year my 10 year old arthritic GSD shadow who was already on medication for his stiff joints was diagnosed with the devastating condition DM and again I was given expert advice, information and support from the team. In August the 25th to be exact, my other GSD Sabre seemed ill during the night so I rang the emergency out of hours service and given that he wasnt in any pain was told to "keep an eye on him" which I did and took him straight to the vets the next morning but sadly devastatingly he couldnt be saved, he'd had a heart attack and Chris Mann tried in vain to resucitate him in the Staveley practice. I have complete faith in both the Chesterfield and Staveley branch, the vets always explain any procedures and answer any queries and concerns and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. My little staffie cross now has to have a biopsie for a lump thats appeared and needs a tooth removing and I trust the vets implicitely. If I had to find fault in any aspect of Chapel house it would be for a second consultation for the same condition/illness to not be charged for. Hopefully in the nicest way possible I won't be seeing you next year too many times!!! Read Less
