We (myself and Mrs Sheridan) got referred from our local vets to see Greg Firth, who is the Peak vets eye specialist, after a recurring abscess on our little Yorkie, Sukie's right eye. We were trying for a month with our own vets and the abscess was not quite healing fully. After Greg had a go at it, scarifying the eyeball thoroughly, it was gone in 10 days, what a relief. Our little Sukie is happy again, she was getting a little fed up of the constant pain and irritating eye drops. I cannot thank Greg enough for his help and his expertise is second to none. The staff at Peak vets were all very friendly and helpful too. Kind regards........Keith & Linda Read Less

Phoned vet oncall at 22:00 sensible compassionate advice given. Next day (Sunday) we took our beloved moggy for consultation. The nurse on reception was professional and caring. Didn't wait long to be seen by Greg the vet. A thorough examination given but carried out sensitively. Recommendations given on how to proceed. We consented to diagnostics and treatment. We had a short wait (we were anxious and were made a cup of tea by the nurse). Greg explained the results of the xray clearly and concisely. A procedure was recommended and carried out same day despite it being Sunday. Greg rang after the procedure to put our minds at rest. I felt fully involved throughout. I particularly appreciated the total transparency of the process being carried out on our beloved moggy. Great communication from start to finish. Competively priced in all aspects of treatment (following a Google search of vet charges). I will have no hesitation using Peak Vets again but hopefully not too soon. A big THANK YOU again to the team at Peak Vets. Read Less

We have some pet chickens too and one was attacked by a (not so fantastic) fox, called up and asked if they could help, they were more than happy to and turns out most of them keep chickens too. Been with these vets a while now... Had to make the most heart breaking decision and put my beautiful boy staffy to sleep. The vets and reception staff are not the most helpful or compassionate I have encountered. Nor are they quick to tell you when you can pick up the ashes. You grieve enough when your part of the family member has to be put down. And I understand they must get busy.. But compassion / and some understanding is what this practice lacks. I called to see if I could an urgent appointment for my cat. Never been to this vet before. I just googled a late opening veterinary service and this place came up. On calling I spoke to a lady that advised me I needed to get my cat checked when I explained my concerns. When I asked if I can book in. She first asked if I was registered with them. When I said no. She said it's best to see own vet. Totally appreciate this, good continuation of animal care, up to date records etc. However my vet is closed and I'm concerned. (I have an appt at my vet tomorrow but I'm more concerned now). So the lady informs me that they save their appointments for registered customers (appreciate this but surely they have same day/urgent appts) but if I wanted to transfer over to them she could 'squeeze' me in. Meaning if I join their practice I get an appointment, if I don't join then no appointment. So I asked what if I wanted to see a vet in the middle of the night. She informs me my vet will have an out of hours contact. She was polite in manner but actually not helping me at all. It just seems a bit unreadonable to me that there is a vet open near to where I live, however because I'm not fully registered I can't get an appointment. But if I join an appointment shall magically appear. That's not the best attitude towards putting the health & care of my cat first in my eyes. I appreciate vet services are fundamentally a business but surely their approach to offering advice and care should be more holistic, animal focused and a priority! Read Less

I needed to do the correct thing for my beloved cat "Mittens" who was almost 20 years old. She was not eating or drinking properly and she had lost a lot of weight. I contacted this surgery even though I was not registered their, and they offered me a compassionate service which certainly maintained the dignity of my pet. The surgery had around 6 people who were waiting to be seen, but as they could see that both myself and my Wife were upset they dealt with us first. We were offered time with our pet to say our goodbyes, and then the Vet put our beloved cat to sleep, all through the process we were stroking our pet and comforting her, then the vet said she's gone. Our pet just simply fell asleep. I shook the hand of the Vet as I could not wish for a more fitting end to my pets life. I was charged 78:79p for a 'jill jab' to bring my female ferret out of season. According to The Countryman's Weekly of June 30th this year: "If owners do not wish to invest in a hoblet of their own, or have only a small number of jills, jill jabs injections with drugs such as proligestone (Delvosteron) are often a viable alternative which allows owners to keep their options open without endangering their ferrets or producing unwanted litters. Sometimes jills will need more than one such injection during a year, ie. if she comes back into season. These injections vary from about 5 to 10 per ferret per injection. Shop around vets to get the best price." Too right - quite a difference between 5 and 80. I have been given no satisfactory explanation and, of course, was forced to pay because I had no alternative. Be careful with these vets - probably paying for the nice carpets and nurse's uniforms (and vet's holidays). What a rip off just for caring for your pet!! Also emailed them and got no reply or explanation. Seems they 'care' for money and good reviews, not criticism. Read Less

Read Less

Over the years I have taken lots of my pets to them, sadly must of them have now passed on. The care and treatment from the vets and nurses has been wonderful, and when my Sheba had to be put to sleep the care was lovely, they even helped me fill the cheque in was not in a fit state to see what i was writing. Each animal matters to them they are their patient. The staff are kind and highly professional. I have no hesitation in recommending them to you.Read Less
