Simon Patterson has provided us with 5star veterinary care foe years. Rabbits and Guinea pigs aren't always given great vetcare due to lack of knowledge. Simon helped my nurse my Bunny through Myxomatosis, and a broken back. I've had not so Good experiences with some of the vets here in previous years, so now only see Simon out of preference. There have been changes in staffing over the years, but a I've found a fantastic vet I don't want to try another and risk disappointment! Read Less

Arrived late due to travel delays, our half hour journey took 2.5 hours but we were greeted by friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble for them. They took our toy poodle straight through to have his operation.We knew that his castration was not going to be straightforward but were reassured and when we went to collect him Simon had done an amazing job and his stitching was very neat and minimal. Although not on our doorstep we would certainly travel the distance as we have been very impressed with the practice and only found it as our other dog went there via her breeder and we have continued to go there with her. I've used this vets for all my animals over the years and they've been good but nothing to shout about. I've noticed a few times they seem to be very money orientated, one example would be the fact they always prescribe tablets but then insist on an injection too at another cost to me, sometimes not even asking if that's Okay and just going ahead with it, I've been to at least 3 other vets and they only gave the tablets I needed. I also recently had issues with my ferret and took him here. They aren't ferret experts but I use them as an emergency option as my ferret specialist only sees emergencies in Leamington Spa, much too far to drive during the night. I took him in for an emergency appointment one night where he needed an X-ray to cross off something life threatening. First off, I went about 45 minutes before closing, more than enough time to get him in for an X-ray, but they decided to wait, and then charge me an extra 40 for emergency hour prices. Of course I paid without question but my next issue made me regret that, the X-ray's came back fine so off to my specialist we went the next day, I let them know beforehand to ask riversmeet for the notes of the emergency appointment. The vet had an idea of what was wrong but need the X-ray's to cross off a more serious condition, however, they didn't come over with the notes and when he rang to ask for them he was told they couldn't send them. I had paid all this money and they wouldn't share those results. I then had to pay again for X-ray's so my specialist could see X-ray's and diagnose my little guy. I would take my dog for routine issues, but nothing more than that.Read Less

We have used Riversmeet for our pets and more recently we take our own clients there as we're a pet care business and also run a pet taxi/animal ambulance. They always provide an excellent service but yesterday we were called upon to rush an injured dog to their Tamworth branch. The dog belonged to someone who was travelling through on a narrowboat so they were a long way from home. They treated the dog who is now back with his owner but the owner told us just how good Riversmeet had been and that he was very impressed with their service. Read Less

After having read the previous reviews I don't think you can expect the vet not to bring to your attention that some procedures are going to cost a lot. I've just spent over 2k on my dog and he's seen almost every vet in the practise. They have all been brilliant and reassuring and now it's just everything crossed to see if the treatment has worked. I'm not going to blame the vets if it hasn't - cancer is a ferocious adversary we've all done our best to give Bert a fighting chance. Disgusting!!!!just rang and asked for urgent appt for my very poorly gerbil to be put to sleep,was told drive all the way to Tamworth(poor little thing will have died by then)or wait 24hrs for an appt or pay out of hours price!!!!!girl on phone had no compassion not a clue how to handle the situation,then offered to get her manager i said yes,she then informed me her manager at another practice and could i hold while she rang her!!!!yeah great i will wait while my gerbil dies in the background!!!!Ihave taken my business to another practice who were also fully booked but had the compassion to squeeze me in!!!! Over 15 years the Riversmeet Vets have looked after our beloved labrador, who we sadly lost 18 months ago. We now have a new puppy and would trust her care to no one else, in the past we've called them out evenings and weekends and recieved prompt excellent care. Expert care at very low prices. The place is very busy from opening so you will need to be patient with the staff whom are very friendly but obviously under pressure. My 3 cats were spayed in one day and well looked after, as was my wallet! Read Less

My Yorkshire terrier, Lucy was rushed to the Riversmeet last Sunday afternoon. I wasn't sure at all what was going on with her but I knew she was gravelly ill. She has since been in the main care of Sophia and Maya. Their diagnosis was spot on and swift with major abdominal surgery performed on Lucy, it's been a critical time since but today we get to bring Lucy home. Without the knowledge, care and compassion of all involved in Lucys care I know for sure she wouldn't be here now. I have been kept informed every step of the way by Sophia and Maya. It want about money for them it was genuine compassion. We were allowed to visit every day and I am eternally grateful to all concerned at Riversmeet. Highly recommended. Read Less

In my experience this practice should be avoided by all those who value their animals welfare. The salesman approach of one particular vet left me in no doubt that, whilst my priority was the welfare of my beloved dog, riversmeets priority is money. I felt as though I was being spoken to by a car salesman and being given the hard sell. My dog died less than six whole days after seeing the vet for a serious skin infection. I may have been more than happy to pay the 230 to resolver her skin problems and give her so many antibiotics (as advised), but I am certainly not happy to have lost a member of my family six days later without any warning or idea that this could have been a possibility with a seven month old dog. This, of course, is purely my own experience, and I am in no doubt that my comments will be removed. However, I would merely like to make the point to the vets at this practice that you ought not to assume that your clients are uneducated nor should you treat anyones animal purely as a mean to making money.Read Less

I have two Jack Russells registered at Rivers Meet recently my pup broke his leg fooling around in the garden on a Sunday afternoon, my local vet was closed so I rang Rivers Meet in Tamworth & straight away they got me in diagnosed the problem & treatment was started, since then I have been back with my other russells on numerous occasions I have to travel twenty miles every time, I find the vets nurses & receptionists very knowledgeable pleasant & friendly, I would definitely recommend the practice in Tamworth. Having tried a few different vets over the years, I am pleased to say that in my opinion Riversmeet Veterinary Centre is by far the best. Earlier this year my dog had some dental work carried out. It was reasonably priced but more importantly to me was that the treatment she received was first class. I have now moved out of Staffordshire but I would rather travel the 35 miles over to Tamworth, than take my dog anywhere else. Read Less

Riversmeet have been my vets for 12 years now and I have never had any reason to fault them. The service is excellent, especially the 24 hour emergency service which,unlike a lot of other practises in Tamworth, is manned by the same vets. This means that the vet that manages your emergency then cares for the patient through to the conclusion, so has a full knowledge of the circumstances rather than seeing a different vet who has to refer to notes. The staff are lovely, they all know my name and even when the reception is busy they will take time to speak. I would recommend this bunch of guys to anyone, they are knowledgable, experienced and really care for the animals - and their owners! Read Less

Our usual veterinarians is Companion Care located in Pets At Home. Feeling they were a bit pricier than others for the routine spaying of our female cat we looked around and found Riversmeet was cheaper by around 15 - 20+. We decided to head here, but sometimes the old saying 'you get what you pay for' rings very true. First up let's just note here for the record there we no issues with the actual procedure. Zero. The spaying was a total success with no complications, the wound was deftly stitched and she has been very happy since the anaesthetic wore off. The problems were with the staff we found. Our appointment was booked for 8.30am so we could drop her off on the way to work. Arriving at 8.20am there were lights on inside the building, but nobody around. A nurse arrived for work pretty much exactly on 8.30am before disappearing for 5 minutes or so. When the doors were finally opened around 8.35am a small group of us were asked to take a seat whilst the nurse disappeared again. When, finally, a receptionist appeared at 8.40am she stepped into the room, took one look at the waiting group and rolled her eyes. I've never felt like I'm troubling a vets practice with my custom or pet before. She started to load up the computers (not a quick task) and then sighed as the phones began to rang as people requested appointments for the day. Grumbling to two other nurses that she couldn't keep up (perhaps turning up on time would have eased her woes?) the nurses stepped in to the role of checking people in. It all fell apart. As they rushed to get animals checked in and answer the phones so they could return to their real duties, steps were missed. A spaying requires that our cat by nil-by-mouth (including water) since 7pm the night before. Nobody bothered to check this basic requirement for the anaesthetic. Luckily we of course had followed instruction, but this was disappointing and got me to worrying straight away. There was no friendly chat, no warm atmosphere. Even on collection in the evening it was very (pardon the pun) clinical. Companion Care's vets show a genuine warmth and affection to the animals. This was more like a production line of procedures. Get 'em in, get 'em out. Perhaps I'm being picky as they are of course competent in their procedures and care, but a business like this demands a comfortable atmosphere. Not staff who are drafted in as back ups to man the phones with a receptionist who rolls her eyes at a busy waiting room and ringing phone first thing in the morning. I can only imagine the greeting the 5pm appointments must have received. We'll be sticking with our regular and more expensive vet in the future. Money isn't everything. Service is. Read Less
