My dog is 6 days post-operative for TPLO on her left hind leg. She was walking on 3 legs for a week before the surgery as she had a complete tear of her cruciate ligament. She was using the bad leg at day 2 post-op and is now at day 6 using it 95% of the time. I am amazed. Her scar is tiny, the staples are perfectly spaced, the bruising was minimal and she has had very little discomfort. This is the work of an absolute perfectionist - Andrew Miller is an incredible orthopaedic surgeon. When I told Andrew I'd done heavy research into her condition, he asked me to tell him what I knew, rather than telling me anyway and treating me like an internet idiot (which I can be sometimes). When I queried re bilateral surgery, since most dogs tear the other leg and my research online was that most people opt to get the other leg done at the same time to save the dog going through this twice, Andrew explained the risks of bilateral (with infection being the greatest factor, double the risk in bilateral) and I was swiftly confident that he was right and you shouldn't fix what isn't broken. He said he would never put an animal through unnecessary discomfort. I put my complete trust in this statement due to a previous visit. I was previously referred to the practice in September 2017 for unexplained front limb lameness in my dog (the same unlucky dog). She had a CT scan which found nothing untoward and Andrew advised we wait and see if the lameness goes away, since there was nothing obvious and further investigation on a dog still growing would be counterproductive. It went away a month later and never returned. I believe any other practice would have advised arthroscopic investigation, which I was all for. I was disappointed not to receive a diagnosis and to be leaving my dog in pain, but he was right in his suspicions. I hope never to return to Broadleys and that my dog beats the statistics of the other CCL tearing, but if we do return I will rest assured that Andrew will do a repeat perfect job. Broadleys processed a direct claim with my insurance since I received pre-authorisation for her surgery, which was a huge relief and I wasn't made to feel an inconvenience. The practice is clean, well laid out, with a new cat waiting area almost complete. Parking excellent, staff lovely (even though the receptionists look extremely busy!) and I saw some excellent dog breeds coming and going from appointments when in the waiting area which is always a bonus! Gold standard veterinary treatment from premium quality practice. The whole experience from entering the practice and initial interactions with receptionists through to treatment by vets, nurses and specialists is second to none. The staff are focused on offering first class treatment to both animals and clients alike, with care and compassion. Our greyhound broke his foot. Mr Miller said it would need a plate and a few screws. When we picked him up after the op he said he "got away with one screw". A week or so later, that "one screw" broke and we were back to square one. He had to have the operation again.... And we were charged almost full price for the second op. The dog wasn't insured.the bill was around 2500. The dog had a leg like a banana and terrible arthritis. I would definitely not recommend the orthopaedic team , Mr Miller or Mr Arnott .
