Three Rivers Vets are all about seeing how much money they can take from you. It's as they have been saying on TV and other news articles, vets that are part of a big group charge way more than independent vets. I had all three of my dogs with them, one puppy and two much older dogs. My Gordon Setter (one of the older dogs) has a weak bladder and so has to take Propalin for this. The vets charge £90 for 100ml, give or take a pound, but it sells online at Animed for £29. Obviously I get it online so need the vets to write me a prescription. I phoned Three Rivers to get this and was told my dog hadn't been seen by the vet for awhile so needed to book an appointment to see the vet before they would issue one (I appreciate this is normal with all vets that they have to have seen them within 6 months). I asked if this would be a full appointment (I was registered to a vets in Nottingham when I was there and they would charge a small nominal charge for this) to which I was told it would be. So to get the repeat prescription I would have to pay them £60 for the appointment and £30 for the prescription. I then phoned Kessingland Vets which are just down the road (and they have parking, where as Three Rivers you have to try and find a space on a busy road to park) from Three Rivers and they would charge £19.50 for a short vet consultation and £15 for the prescription.. that's a difference of £55.50! I decided to move all three dogs to Kessingland Vets. I canceled all upcoming appointments and I wanted to cancel my puppies pet plan as well. They said I had to pay the last two months installments if I wanted to cancel. I said that I had worm and flea tablets owed then as they were due. They refused to give them to me even though I was paying for them. I ended up leaving my puppy registered with them for the next month and then moved her after I had received her tablets. I also had her spaying op done at the new vets as it was cheaper there even without the pet plan discount, plus Three Rivers were trying to upsell so many extras that weren't really needed which would have cost a few hundred pounds more. I certainly wouldn't recommend Three Rivers Vet group to any one and I would urge anyone registered with them to check the price difference with other local vets that aren't part of a large private equity group. Some are great, lovely manner, softly spoken and gentle handling vets work there that are just awesome. Unfortunately my opinion differs radically to that of even a few weeks ago when I left positive comments on their Facebook Page.I left this on personal experience but suspected that it might be different for others who had no more than routine annual jabs etc. Confirmed in experience over the last 3 months that my suspicions had foundation in that this particular surgery is more miss than hit.In short the same dog had 4 different opinions of what was wrong from 3-4 different vets despite all the information being available to all from the beginning. Not once seen by the same vet since the initial visit with the problem and all with different opinions and advice. The last visit resulted in a bill £50 over and above routine vaccination,no explanation until returning to query. Oh this was for the referal to go to Newmarket,ok but they did nothing other than sign a form, then sent back the insurance form to be sent on to the insurance company at the same cost as sending it directly.Prior to the "Referal" they bent over backwards to ensure they would send the forms e.g less than 70p whilst they were being paid? On arrival at the "Referral" vets 75 miles away we expected an answer and probably a scan of some kind to confirm or otherwise the opinion of the vets at Kessingland.Nothing of the sort but confirmation that a scan was not neccesary for diagnosis, the Xrays being sufficient from 3 Rivers. Bottom line was, paid for examination, diagnosis, prognosis, opinion at 3 Rivers.......not one accurate, not 2 vets in agreement, medication prescribed and not proven to work or be required. The vet they referred us to had not a clue but suggested opening up this little dog, cutting a wedge out of her leg bone and fitting it back together with a metal plate and screws. On the basis of this experience I will be removing my dog from this practice and just so they are aware their reception staff are on a par with those that once received prisoners in wartime Europe. If they wish to dispute this opinion they should feel free to challenge it. My beautiful dog was put to sleep Nov 17. This was because she had a womb infection - Pyometra, which had become too advanced to treat. Her uterus was full of pus which was slowly leaking into her tummy. She was taken to the Kessingland Three Rivers 2 days running and misdiagnosed on both occasions by 2 different vets. On the 3rd day I went in without her to discuss her symptons with a 3rd different vet. On the 4th day running she was taken to a different vets practice who instantly picked up what was wrong and scanned her to confirm it. By then it was so advanced that the kindest thing to do was to put her to sleep. My baby suffered needlessly because of the incompetence at the hands of one branch of vets and as a result had to be put to sleep. Had this have been picked up on her 1st visit to that vet things may have been very different now. So if anyone uses or is considering using Three rivers vets please please think carefully and remember our story. Read Less

I took my kitten to the Beccles branch recently for his second vaccination. I was the first appointment of the afternoon but the vet seemed rushed the entire appointment as if we were an inconvenience. He very roughly checked my kitten over, who had starting shaking on the table at how awfully he was handled, exclaiming 'hmmm' and asking various questions. The way he spoke made me feel upset as it seemed there was something wrong. He then said he fine and jabbed him with the needle. After giving him a dose, he then weighed him (only after I'd asked as the paperwork asks the weight when you write in the vacc info). He grabbed my kitten with one hand, held him at arms length and dumped him on the scale. When he returned him to me, he practically threw him at me saying 'have you got him' as he hurried me putting him in his basket. I then was herded out of the door. This complete disregard for my feelings and the state of the room (loose, torn and grubby plastic on the table, stains and marks on walls and cupboards) means that I will never return to this practise. I wouldn't trust them to look after my pet, as they didn't even do this when I was in the room.Read Less

I really would like to thank Beccles three rivers vets for the quick response they gave me when my cat gizmo was poorly. After a initial phone call at 10.30pm on a Friday night I had gizmo at the vets within 15 minutes. Thanks to tessa's quick response my boy is well on the road to recovery , after being diagnosed with asthma. Nothing was to much hassle and I had an update call everything something changed or discovered. I truly would like to thank Tessa for all the support she gave us all and for putting up with me crying everything she rang . Thank you so much for looking after my kitty so well . I wouldn't trust anyone else . Thank you so much . Dani , Leon and an every so slightly wheezy gizmo .Read Less

They were brilliant recently when my family and I were holidaying on a Broads cruiser, when my daughters dog unfortunately eat a fishing line complete with hook and needed urgent medical care out of hours. I don't think we could have had better care anywhere else. Luckily Keira (the dog involved) has made a full recovery and is now doing well. Read Less

Went with my daughter to this practise today when she had to have her little cat Boots put to sleep. Poor little cat was so poorly, it was the only option. From the minute we walked into the surgery we were made to feel comfortable. The lady vet explained everything to my daughter, weather she wanted to stay with her cat, what the procedure would be & what to expect. Thank you for being so kind in what was a most stressful situation. Yours Sincerely, Pauline Williams. Read Less
