These vets have looked after all of our dogs over the years and we have always found them professional and caring. Our present dog has recently been diagnosed with diabetes and also had a UTI. She had to be admitted to their hospital and if it hadn't been for Paul and the nurses there I am certain we might have lost her because she was really sick. I would highly recommend this vet practice. My 14 year old Yorkie/Chihuahua cross Missy became really unwell last month following multiple complications and I felt confident that she was in the best hands. I was kept updated the whole way through and both vets Roger Harvey and Rob Davis demonstrated professionalism, expertise and compassion. Missy ultimately had to be put to sleep which was an extremely difficult decision to make. This was dealt with very sensitively and I felt reassured by their level of expertise that this decision was the kindest thing to do given the circumstances. I was allowed to be present when she was put to sleep and this took place out of hours with a marquee set up due to covid measures. This was an extremely difficult time of my life, having had Missy 14 years from a puppy, thank you to this practice and Rob and Roger for being so compassionate and professional during this time. I presume all the good reviews have not had the unfortunate experience of having Roger as their consultant vet. Typically he is a partner and therefore here to stay. He's rude, abrupt and unhelpful. Don't deserve any starts to be honest. We had our dog booked in on and off with the same condition for way over a year. They never let us talk to any specialists or do any tests to find out what was wrong. Instead they keeped pumping our dog with steriods and giving us steroids based drugs to take home. We noticed that he was getting worse not better and that we really must get serious and get to the bottom of the issues so we started to question vets and asked to see a specialist. We also went away and got the opinion of another vet to. On the day of our dogs specialist appointment at stow the vets phoned and cancelled saying my partner has been really rude and aggressive and they don't want anything to do with us any more, he was only trying to question and get to the bottom of why nothing has been solved as yet. When then went to another vets and straight away they did some test and treatment and found out our dog had skin and hair problems also kidney and thyroid problems so reffered him to a skin specialist at a animal hospital. They have now investigated and found out that this was all caused by the steriods they gave in large amounts for to long. If we had stayed at stow vets they could have killed him or made life long conditions. We spent so much money,time and stress and got nowhere just neglect and failed they duty of care so we will soon be taking legal action thank gosh for vet insurance,now at a high cost. Not really had much to do with this vets, moved to them last year. The problem started when my my dog needed some long term medication. Initially purchased meds (Meticam) from Stowe Veterinary Group for about 30 quid. I started looking into buying the exact medication online at, which was 1/12th of the cost at about £2.50. The catch was, you need a vets prescription. I made several phone calls to the vets over a few days trying to get the cost of a prescription. I spoke to some very nice ladies on reception, who all apologised for the delay in communications. All explained that "I would have to wait for one of the partners, Roger to call me back". Four days later "Jolly Roger the pirate, who seemed like he was trying to relieve me of my hard earned pieces of eight" called me back. Jolly Roger explained to me that it would cost me 30 odd pounds for Archie's prescription, ok. So I asked for the amount of meds on the prescription to be increased. Roger the Pirate said this was going to increase the written prescription costs to over £40. I was really busy at the time and in the middle of the high st, so I said I would get back to "me hearty Rodg". I called back the vets and asked to speak to "Roger the partner" and justify the costs. Well the days went by and Roger never got back to me. In the mean time, concerned about my dog I took him to another vets in Stowmarket. They told me that Archie needed initial blood tests before starting Meticam, which Stowe Veterinary Group did not do and it could of caused kidney problems. It turns out Meticam was the wrong medication for Archie, he's been prescribed something totally different. Guess what ? Roger never did call me back, it's been three weeks now. Read Less

We took our dog who had been hit by a car to a vet here. She was walking and seemed Ok, but we were concerned about internal damage. The vet refused to scan/x-ray her and told us she would be fine. Our dog was given a pain relief injection, and we believed what the vet had told us. The vet said she would be going 'downhill' had she got internal problems. Our lovely dog passed away 4 days later. She died because we believed what the vet had told us. We thought she was sore and stiff from the knock but was obviously suffering and dieing. We will never go here again. Read Less

I would give no stars if I could. This vet group should be avoided at all costs. My dog has been back and forward for 18 months with the same issue. They have repeatedly prescribed medication that has done nothing to help; they are rude and condisending. I sought the advice of another practice; and then had a pre booked appointment cancelled by the manager. They never even had the decency to tell me; So I showed up to the practice to be greeted with rude staff. The senior partner who was on hand didn't even talk to me face to face. It shouldn't take 18months to diagnose the cause of a problem and treat it. I am thinking about legal action for money and time wasted. Avoid! Read Less

I cannot recommend Stowe Vets enough. The quality of service I get with my horses is second to none. One of them has often in the past needed sedation for his teeth but Pete was able to do it within a few minutes with no sedation at all. I was so impressed! Also when I have needed a vet out of hours they have arrived quickly. Great service, great staff, great vets. I would not use anyone else. Read Less

I brought my 5 month old Springer puppy to Stowe Vet Group for treatment after he had swallowed Ibuprofen, a serious toxin for dogs! He had initially been cared for by my local vet, and although they had done a great job, they had been unable to monitor and follow up his treatment overnight. Stowe Vet group were able to step in and he had fantastic care for 24hrs. Everybody we dealt with was professional and kind and he could not have had better treatment. Highly recommended. Read Less

I have been using Stowe Veterinary Group for years and I have nothing but praise for the efforts and caring nature of all the staff there. Nothing is too much trouble for them and I have always felt I have received good value for money. They are not the cheapest vets around, but when it comes to my pets, I do not want the cheapest. What is important to me is the care demonstrated time and time again. They have been there at 2am in the morning when I was woken by my fitting dog and also on Christmas day when he got a piece of bone stuck in his throat. This type of service is costly to provide and I do not begrudge a penny I have paid for it. Friends of mine rang their 'cheaper' vet out of hours once and didnt even get the telephone answered. I have heard others complain that stowe vet overcharges, and yes they might not be 'cheap'. However they seem to have excellent facilities with a wide range of equipment & staff that cares. They are also open evenings and Saturdays and usually have same-day appointments available. I would not change to save a few pounds. Read Less
