I am absolutely appalled at this practice. We took our family dog there, after much deliberation over who we felt would take the best care of him and us in the local area, and East Grinstead Veterinary Hospital came out as the practice we felt best about. How wrong were we?!
Our (too) active dog was diagnosed with ligament damage after some overzealous activity and subsequently needed operating on. As you may expect this wasn't cheap so we instigated a claim with our insurer. A few weeks prior to his injury, we changed our pet insurance upon renewal date as we needed a provider that better catered for him now he was a little older, thank God we did....
Well, that's what we thought. The operation went fine however, due to a administrative error on the vet's part, they declared on our insurance notes that our dog was injured before our insurance was renewed, simply by putting the wrong date of the month on the form; human error you would say.
As simple as this may sound to remedy, the vet denied their wrong doing and have failed to review or correct this despite our amicable approach and various conversations with seemingly a string of staff with no idea. Our insurer, and other vets have all told us how easy this would be to change (our insurer agreed to accept a claim with the correct date), but this vet refused to admit that they are wrong and has been dishonest from the beginning of reporting the matter. Who knows why, but this is absolutely disgraceful and it is evident that what they care about is money, nothing more, certainly not their clients. Your animal I am afraid is just another walking bag of cash.
The result for us is that our insurance will not cover the cost of the treatment and we are hugely out of pocket, when our insurance would have covered us. As skilled as these people may be (well, I'm not so sure now) operating a knife, clearly they lack skill in the administrative part of their business, with no ability to provide attention to accuracy or common sense.
I would NEVER entrust any animal of mine to them again and I will actively discourage others from using them for both human and animal's sake via any means I am asked, private and public. Having read some of the other negative Google reviews (I wish I had before), I can see why they have been left and I would have avoided from the start.
Please accept this as your warning before engaging with this business. Awful, awful practice.

I had to call the emergency vet to my very sick dog
yesterday afternoon (Sunday) and although he had just
finished his morning emergency clinic and was off duty he
made a home visit, he was with us in less than 30 mins.
Unfortunately he had to put our beloved pet to sleep but we
cannot thank him enough for the caring way he did it leaving
us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. He not only
looked after our pet but us as well. I was so upset that I
can't remember the vets name but I would like to thank him
and all the staff who have looked after all our dogs over the
past 40 years they have all been wonderful.

Vet ok, but must be in a hurry as needles from last customer was left out on side, potential hazard for scared pet!
Also very expensive, appointment and painkillers nearly £50!!!!
Avoid and look at other vets.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO EGVH : We rushed our little dog Lilly to Blackberry Road clinic at 3.30pm after she was stung multiple time by a swarm of bees. whilst we were out walking. Blackberry Road vets treated her for an hour and at 4.30 we were told the vets were going home, despite the fact she was bleeding internally vomiting blood and passing blood and unable to stand, we were told to take her home as they didn't have an out of hours service and were handed a card for EGVH. Within 45 mins we were at the hospital with Lilly as she had lost a lot of blood. This was classed as out of hours, it was about 5.45. The vet, Lucinda, told us the assessment would cost 200 pounds and it took about five minutes, she told us that Lilly was unlikely to make it and that we should consider Euthanasia. Lucinda was aloof, detached and uncaring. She asked if we would sign forms for euthanasia and also told us the duty nurse would have to sleep but I asked that she monitored Lilly. As Lilly was so poorly we had no choice but to leave her here, it was so upsetting. I got a call at 3pm and Lucinda, she said Lilly wouldn't make it, I asked to see her and reluctantly she allowed me to visit. She kept suggesting euthanasia and I Left refusing, she told me to go as she was busy. She told me they helped them along and I said please don't if I am not here, I still have hope. She called me within the hour to say Lilly had died. I will never know if she was 'helped'. The whole time I was there a dog cried continuously in the next room, no one at any time went into it. Total cost for these few hours of uncaring horrendous service was: 780 pounds. Shame on you Blackberry Road and East Grinstead VH. One star added to allow me to post

I can recommend the vets at The East Grinstead Veterinary Hospital without hesitation. They have always been so kind and caring particularly Lucinda when dealing with the loss of our old dog Angus. Whenever I have to go I know that my dog will get the best treatment.Simon has been treating my dog recently and it has transformed the quality of her life. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for us, they are the best!

We recently had our Cockapoo puppy Molly spayed here & were understandably nervous for her.
She came out of the operation with a tiny & very neat little scar & was back to her normal self the very next morning .
No hesitation in recommending this veterinary hospital as first class .

This Veterinary hospital offers the most fantastic service, brilliant staff, who really care, staying up all night nursing my little cat through a terrible injury. The vet & nurse looked after my cat (& me) when she accidentally impaled herself on a fence, requiring immediate surgery on her chin and jaw. They were so caring & I would reccommend them to everyone.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO EGVH : We rushed our little dog Lilly to Blackberry Road clinic at 3.30pm after she was stung multiple time by a swarm of bees. whilst we were out walking. Blackberry Road vets treated her for an hour and at 4.30 we were told the vets were going home, despite the fact she was bleeding internally vomiting blood and passing blood and unable to stand, we were told to take her home as they didn't have an out of hours service and were handed a card for EGVH. Within 45 mins we were at the hospital with Lilly as she had lost a lot of blood. This was classed as out of hours, it was about 5.45. The vet, Lucinda, told us the assessment would cost 200 pounds and it took about five minutes, she told us that Lilly was unlikely to make it and that we should consider Euthanasia. Lucinda was aloof, detached and uncaring. She asked if we would sign forms for euthanasia and also told us the duty nurse would have to sleep but I asked that she monitored Lilly. As Lilly was so poorly we had no choice but to leave her here, it was so upsetting. I got a call at 3pm and Lucinda, she said Lilly wouldn't make it, I asked to see her and reluctantly she allowed me to visit. She kept suggesting euthanasia and I Left refusing, she told me to go as she was busy. She told me they helped them along and I said please don't if I am not here, I still have hope. She called me within the hour to say Lilly had died. I will never know if she was 'helped'. The whole time I was there a dog cried continuously in the next room, no one at any time went into it. Total cost for these few hours of uncaring horrendous service was: 780 pounds. Shame on you Blackberry Road and East Grinstead VH. One star added to allow me to post
