Our Cat Fifi has had a weeping eye problem which we read up online about and were worried. Mike who we saw was absolutely brilliant with her (usually she gets really scared and unsettled at vet practices). Mike calmed her down immediately and prescribed some drops which sorted the problem. Our dog had a small scratch on its eye. They persuaded my wife to spend £500 on eye drops. When that naturally failed to have any effect they talked her into a £500 operation to fix the scratch by..scratching his eye. The dog doesn't even notice the small scratch. Generally a good place, however, we were seen by a most unpleasant character, Dr Mike Baumann. Most vets are kind and caring, but this guy seems to have a general distaste for pets. I’ve never been asked by a vet to hold my pet down before, if anything, it only made my pet feel more nervous. Rather than consider our problems, he is commercial minded and makes suggestions to come back in for another visit for expensive invasive options, and refuses to entertain concerns upfront. Worst of all, he wraps things up quickly, and then proceeds to hastily rush us out the door. Not once did he even ask what my pet’s name was. Read Less

In my opinion the treatments are good but this place feels over priced. A visit costs "only" £35 and if you have to add any treatment to that then you will get out of there £100 lighter at least. They tend to schedule lots of follow up visits before taking actions. The vets however seem to know what they are talking about. Read Less

Have used Maven Vets (previously Frean & Smyth) for over 22 years with my cats and rabbits. I also run a bunny boarding hotel. If any of my boarders become poorly I always use Maven. I had to take a rabbit there recently who had stasis and the new layout is brilliant. A quiet space for small animals and the staff were very helpful. The vet did a thorough check of the rabbit and talked through all the options. They are open 7 days and there is good parking which helps too. It's a very well equipped and clean veterinary surgery and wouldn't take my animals anywhere else. Read Less

Would definitely recommend Mavens. They generally have your pets health as there priority ! Lovely staff and vets ! I have two cats and Maven have some nurses that are qualified specially to cat nursing so know that they are in good hands when it comes to handling and making their stay if needed as relaxing as possible. I have a dog and a cat who are registered with Maven ,both who have recently been treated for different conditions. Both of my pets are very dear to me and I feel confident leaving them in good hands. My 10 year old dog has recently had a large tumour removed at the Maven Vets in North Cheam and the quality of the procedure and after care was amazing. Michael Morrice, the vet who did the surgery, is highly skilled, knowledgeable and also very kind to the animals. The stitches were neat and wound healed within 10 days with no complications. Having recently moved to this practise from my local vets in Walton on Thames, I will only ever use this vet in the future as I have not come across a better care.Read Less

Our feline family have been regular attendees for almost 16 years. They have always received excellent care - not just from the vets but also from the nurses and kennel assistants. The receptionists are all friendly, efficient and take an interest in the animals. Senior Vet Michael Morrice sets the height of the clinical bar of excellence for others to strive to achieve. The new enhanced facility surgery is nearing completion. It has been a long slog and the practice is being equipped with state of the art equipment. Personally I cannot wait for the new separate cat and dog waiting areas, which will reduce stress levels of animals....and their guardians!!. More vets up and down the country have seen the need for separation and are doing it gradually where space permits. I believe that the new separate surgeries will even exceed the very vigorous criteria set by International Cat Care who are a major charity who have most vets as members. New hospital pens are being installed, which is another positive step forward. Read Less

Our dog Harley had a multitude of things wrong with him during his lifetime. We couldn't have asked for anywhere or anyone better to look after him. Everyone worked so hard to get him the best treatment, we got a lot of extra time with him that we wouldn't have otherwise had if he had gone somewhere else.
