Good customer service. They charge ridiculous amounts for tending to your pet, dog in my case. 30 something pounds to clear my dog's anal glands is just silly. I went to the vets on Durham Road and they done the same job for £13, same job at a reasonable price. I've heard stories of others being bumped by sheriffs highway to. The level of care shown to my dog has been very poor and customer care is just non existent. As far as I’m concerned it’s a race to the bottom with this vets to get the biggest possible fee. It’s the only thing they can do efficiently. It’s really sad as Clarke, Scott and Henfrey the previous owners were so professional with a very high standard of care. Read Less

Our daisy was taking well care of whilst here. The vet whome wears his little beard in a bun was fab. He explained everything in datail. answered all of our questions. We took his advice and now getting to the the bottom of the problems our little daisy was having. I will never again use another vets agin. These are fab and know what there doing Read Less

Had to take in my poorly dog, just past midnight on a Saturday. Was very impressed by the vet, who couldn't have been more thorough. Dog stayed two nights and was well cared for. Only four stars as there was confusion over the bill, but in the end I had two refunds. Read Less

I am very disapointed, i have used this surgery for years for all my pets. Today i have sat since 2.45 pm to collect my cat after her operation, it is now 3.45 and not one staff member has spoke to me to apologise for my long wait considering my app was 2.45pm, surely customers shoud be kept informed,,, maybe time to try a new surgery as im very disapointed, if id been informed of an emergency, fair enough, but not to acknowledge im sat here is disgraceful !!!! Our Irish Terrier was diagnosed with a chronic disease over 6 months ago. She was admitted immediately and needed intensive care including a blood transfusion. I cannot recommend enough the care and support provided by Jack and his team. Her treatment continues with regular visits, we are kept well informed of her progress and everything is fully explained. We are well aware that things could have turned out very differently and I made my mind up a long time ago that, if that was the case, it would not alter my opinion of this outstanding veterinary practice. I came to Sheriff Highway vets under unfortunate emergency circumstances with my cat. Despite him having to be euthanized, the out-of-hours team were incredibly kind and understanding of the situation, and did everything they could for Pi and me, making sure to explain everything to me and making sure he was as comfortable as possible in his last minutes. They also made sure that I understood all possible options, in terms of risk and finance, as the situation unfolded. Disgraceful. They tried to charge us 1,400 for an emergency spey for dog. We refused to pay and collected our dog. we recieved a very negative attitude from the vet for doing so. The next day we took our dog to lowfell premier vets, they charged us 440 for the exact same op and were x100 more friendly. Our Chihuahua Coco needed extensive surgery to her left leg. We were recommended by a second opinion to go to Sheriffs Highway and to allow Jack to do this for Coco. We are so glad we took this recommendation, Coco was operated on by Jack and what a job he did. This was, to use his words, ''brutal'' surgery for such small bones on such a small dog. Her operation was performed by a man with such talent, she was well looked after in the hospital by the nursing staff for three days. Now nine days later she is back to herself although her recovery has a way to go yet. All this i feel was down to the right man for the job, the dedicated care and attention by ALL the staff and the after care Coco has and is receiving. Would recommend Sheriffs Highway to anyone who wants the best care for their animal. Read Less

Overall most staff are friendly apart from a few. Rang up several times to get my cat spayed and they said she was too young so booked when she was 6 months, even though the youngest they can sexually mature is 4 months. Turns out my cat is pregnant and put me and my poor baby in a traumatised state as I couldnt keep them but knowing I got rid of them when this could have been prevented if the receptionist staff were more informed about animals. I pass this vets every morning on my way to work and when on a Saturday evening our rabbit looked a bit off colour and I couldn't get through to our usual vets....I rang them up for some advice. They were lovely and informed me of out of hours charges and asked all the right questions before I packed up the poorly pet all the way through to the vets and turned up on their door. We were seen straight away and the rabbit was thoroughly examined and treated with absolutely everything available, and we were sent home with everything we needed to try to nurse her better at home (as rabbits stress and can get more sick in strange environments). After a few hours and no improvement we rang back (at midnight) and were told to come straight down.....which we did. Unfortunately our rabbit died en route but the vet and assistant were very caring, very supportive and assured us that there was nothing else we could have done, confirmed that the rabbit had not died in pain or had died of anything our other pets could catch and discussed whether we wanted to take her home to bury or have her cremated and whether we wanted to collect the ashes. They also offered us a post-mortem if we wanted to confirm the diagnosis (but this was un-neccessary as the illness we suspected was what she was diagnosed and treated with and everyone concerned was sure she had died of stasis - as we initially thought). The staff were very kind and caring, they filled out all our insurance paperwork for us - no hassle on our part and were geniunely upset that our rabbit hadn't made it. I would definitely go back and was very reassured by the care we received....but hope not to have to go back (if you know what I mean). Read Less
