This is the hardest review I have ever had to write. On 4 October I booked a final appointment with Roker Park Vets for our fur baby Jennys end of life following a long serious illness. When we arrived at the surgery on time we were advised that the vet was busy and would be with us soon, we kept Jenny with us to save her unnecessary distress. When the vet came to us he said he would have to take Jenny from us to prepare her for the procedure despite us being assured that we could be with her throughout. We were advised to wait at a back door and when we were admitted into the surgery Jenny was lying on a thin blanket on the floor of a lobby which was cold and horrible between two rooms attached to a drip hanging from a door handle. Myself and my son sat on the floor cuddling Jenny, telling her we loved her and that her pain will soon end. There was no table for Jenny to lie on and no comfort for the family. We advised Mr Thompson, the vet, that we were ready and he administered the injection to help her on her way. We felt that the procedure was not very dignified for a pet that has been a big part of our family for over 16 years and deserved better. All of our pets have been registered with Roker Park for almost 30 years and we had no issues but at a very sad and sensitive time as an end of life, we were extremely upset at the whole process. Please think twice where you go to if you are faced with a similar situation, we are convinced Mr Murphy, the previous vet, would not have done it this way. I have a new Puppy and have used Roker vets for around 15 years. Last week my new puppy became unwell. The receptionist was very helpful and get me a quick appointment when I needed it. We saw a new vet who was lovely and very thorough with our pup. I'm so pleased I decided to stay with this practice. Read Less

After using this vet for years now. I called up to make an appointment for my dog who was unregistered with the practice ( all of my other dogs are) my dog has never been Ill therefore never been to the vet. I was given the 3rd degree by a very abrupt snooty receptionist with the most awful costumer service experience speaking down to me like I was child ( I'm a 52 year old lady) . Her whole attitude was shocking. She then told me Mr Murphy had retired. That was it for me. I will never go back to this vets again which is a shame as I thought it was the best practice in the area but between the receptionist attitude and Mr Murphys departure I will be looking to register elsewhere.
