Attended this veterinary practice as it had been recommended for my dogs exportation treatment to Australia. Absolutely furious to find out that the so called 'exportation vets' got it wrong and never followed clear instructions that they were supposed to be trained in and also that was on paerwork that i previously handed in for them to familiraise themselves with. My dogs are therefore unable to fly on their original date and now have to wait a further 4 weeks in kennels, w...hich they have never been in before, before they are able to fly to Australia. Not only that, they arent prepared to pay the extra cost & vetinary treatment that they will now require. Not only thst, they have the cheek to over charge me on their blood tests. A blood test that they charged me £77.50 for a was only £42 from the laboratory??? When questioned about being over charged I was told this is how they make their money!!!!! Absolute joke of a company!!!!! Avoid at all cost!!!! See More

We've been coming to this vets for years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff are all very kind and caring towards owners and the pets. Recently one of your dogs was put down and they came out to the house and were very respectful over the situation and even allowing us time alone with her after to say our final farewells. Not long after we even received a lovely card offering their condolences and even hoping that our other dogs were okay without her.

The care that Simon and the whole team took with Lucy was absolutely exemplary. Every step of the way from the initial phone call, through to the advice on the possible options and the eventual surgery and after care it was abundantly clear that the whole team took a real interest in her welfare, and had the expertise to deliver the best possible care. She's making a good recovery now and we can't thank you enough.

Beware of the cost here, i was shocked by a bill that we got for a single antibiotic injection for my cat, i wont say how much is was but next time i think i could get a taxi to anywhere else get the treatment for my pet and get back home for less than they charged i also felt that the vet tried to give us the hard sell tactics for things the animal didn't need at that moment and that could've been sourced for much less at any pet store, we will never use them again i found the vet to be arrogant and pushy and he made us feel that if we didn't sign up to his monthly plans that we were irresponsible pet owners which is an outrageous claim, i have had pets all of my life and never mistreated any of them, i gave them 1 star only because the waiting room was clean, so in conclusion i would say to anyone using this vet get the price beforehand and only use them if your animal needs emergency treatment other than that look a bit further a field.

Spotted a lump on Vito, less than 24hrs later the vet had a look and it's sounding good - just keep an eye out. The vet and nurse in Linlithgow were amazing, Vito was being crazy and barking out the windows at pedestrians; they didn't get huffy with him or look miserable at all. It turned a really stressful situation into a hopeful one, with new procedures to improve his mobility etc. Vito doesn't have a good history with vets and this has been the best one in too long. We're looking forward to meeting the bones vet and getting old Gomez (the cat) a check up. We don't want to be at the vets regularly but if necessary we will use this one. Even with a big needle in the neck, Vito was as calm as I could have hoped. I probably asked about a 100 questions but didn't feel hurried or like I was speaking with a sales person.

We have been through so much in the last ten months with our beautiful pippa. Myself and my husband have been using Mackie and brechins vet for nearly 14 yrs, and his parents for years before this. Never have we put so much Faith in a vets. Always full of advice, help, and always have the animals best interests in mind. We have just had to say Goodbye to our first dog as a married couple. He was our baby and nearing 14 we'd had him a long time. We felt supported, and comforted and feel that Marley couldn't have been any better treated by a vets throughout his life but most importantly in his final few hours. To top this off we received a very touching handwritten card from the surgery. Thanks to all<3

Superb. We had a Saturday morning emergency with one of our hens and we were not even registered at the practice (being new to the area and new to having hens). We were given an appointment within the hour and our hen needed an operation under local anaesthetic. The vet offered to do the operation immediately and let us collect her after the surgery had closed for the day. I couldn't have asked for a better response. Simon, the vet, gave clear instructions as to what to look out for during her recovery. I thought the fees were very reasonable. The vet nurses and reception staff were friendly and welcoming. I hope I don't need to see them all again soon but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Just wanted to say a massive "thank you" to Iain for making a very difficult day that little bit easier. Had to have my beautiful boy Gizmo (horse) put to sleep today at 30 years young. I have had him with M&B the whole 21 years I've had him and Iain has been there for the majority of that. In fact Giz has been on the books since he was 4!!! Iain was brilliant with him as per usual and i really respect him for being honest when there wasn't really much else we could do for Giz apart from major surgery with a slim chance of that working. End of an era!! Thank you so much Iain - you really are a credit to the practice xx

This vets needs to be ashamed of itself after allowing a dog to bleed to death. Ring up asking for help as the dogs lying with blood coming out his back passage & mouth they say sorry can't help cause the animal isn't registered at our practise so the dog dies at home bleeding to death. Hope you all feel very proud of yourselves absolutely disgusted!!! Call yourself vets that's an understatement.

When my dog Sammi became ill last year they were absolutely fantastic and got her back to good health, unfortunately a few months later she became ill again and we (my partner and I) made the decision to send her to doggy heaven (she was 13) the whole staff were fantastic and gave so much support and compassion we could not THANK them enough. When my puppy was really ill I took her to this vet and they were very professional, diagnosed her problem in days. She has just been in for her wee op and she was great back to her old self within days, I feel they done a great job you can hardly notice her scar. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly, I would recommend this vet to everyone

Excellent vet service. Seen our dog as an emergency on a Sunday and was half the price of our Edinburgh vet and only 5 minutes out of Edinburgh! Will be moving our dog to this practice.

5 stars are not enough - simply the best surgery I know!! Super friendly staff with excellent knowledge and interpersonal skills, no matter if minor things or serious emergency cases. Thumbs up M&B-Team, I'm glad my dogs are in the best place!!!

Hi, just wanted to say a massive thank you to the Vets, Nurses, Receptionists at Mackie and Brechin in Kirkliston, we cut our holiday short as Daffy our Springer Spaniel became ill, your quick response, care, advice was excellent and definitely put us at ease, we were nervous wrecks thinking the worst but your calming professional influence eased any nerves, Daffy is on the road to recovery, can see the diva tendencys coming back so she's definitely feeling better! Just wanted to say a massive "thank you" to Iain for making a very difficult day that little bit easier. Had to have my beautiful boy Gizmo (horse) put to sleep today at 30 years young. I have had him with M&B the whole 21 years I've had him and Iain has been there for the majority of that. In fact Giz has been on the books since he was 4!!! Iain was brilliant with him as per usual and i really respect him for being honest when there wasn't really much else we could do for Giz apart from major surgery with a slim chance of that working. End of an era!! Thank you so much Iain - you really are a credit to the practice xx

This vets needs to be ashamed of itself after allowing a dog to bleed to death. Ring up asking for help as the dogs lying with blood coming out his back passage & mouth they say sorry can't help cause...
This vets needs to be ashamed of itself after allowing a dog to bleed to death. Ring up asking for help as the dogs lying with blood coming out his back passage & mouth they say sorry can't help cause the animal isn't registered at our practise so the dog dies at home bleeding to death. Hope you all feel very proud of yourselves absolutely disgusted!!! Call yourself vets that's an understatement.

Have to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in putting my wee cat back together after she came home missing her tail. Cannot fault the care she had. 5 weeks on and after a second op her stitches...

When my dog Sammi became ill last year they were absolutely fantastic and got her back to good health, unfortunately a few months later she became ill again and we (my partner and I) made the decision...
When my dog Sammi became ill last year they were absolutely fantastic and got her back to good health, unfortunately a few months later she became ill again and we (my partner and I) made the decision to send her to doggy heaven (she was 13) the whole staff were fantastic and gave so much support and compassion we could not THANK them enough. Would definitely recommend.

When my puppy was really ill I took her to this vet and they were very professional, diagnosed her problem in days. She has just been in for her wee op and she was great back to her old self within days, I feel they done a great job you can hardly notice her scar. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly, I would recommend this vet to everyone

Excellent vet service. Seen our dog as an emergency on a Sunday and was half the price of our Edinburgh vet and only 5 minutes out of Edinburgh! Will be moving our dog to this practice.
