Manor Vets

Birmingham, West Midlands
General Info
Manor’s roots are deep, going back more than 120 years to when the practice serviced the pit ponies. In the mid-20th century it was owned and run by the famous horse vet Mr Dawes. He was renowned for his knowledge of equine medicine and was president of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for many years.
Today we are still renowned for our expertise and we have won several awards for our innovative approach to veterinary practice, especially client care.
We encourage our medical staff to continue their education in specialist fields in order to expand their knowledge and keep it up to date. Our aim is to discuss all aspects of your pet’s health with you, offering you all the options that are available in treatment and prevention. We understand and respect the fact that not all clients have the ability to fund the most advanced treatments.

I have used Manor Vets since moving to Birmingham 7 years ago. I have visited 3 of their branches and always find all the staff polite, friendly and very knowledgeable. For those of you who might have a reptile and are considering taking them to manor vets I'd highly recommend it. I've seen a total of 14 vets for my current bearded dragon across different practices, very rarely seeing the same vet twice, often due to advice that would that is simply just wrong when compared to the literature or is now outdated. I've seen 4 vets at manor vets (Steph, Jack, Tom, and lastly Sergio). All have left I believe, apart from Sergio, for other opportunities. These are the only 4 vets I have ever seen of the 14 I would ever see more than once (seen Sergio 5-6 times). Their clinical decisions have so far always been right (and often in direct contradiction to previous exotic vets closer to home I have seen before resorting to traveling to manor vets). I have the luxury of being able to read everything I can about bearded dragon research/recommendations to make informed choices and even when I only have to know everything about one species -- and they have to know everything about all the species -- they have only agreed with me when I had got it right or seen through my mistakes when I had got it wrong. Something you hope from every vet but sadly manor vets is the only practice that has come through for me there. For those of you that might be interested in the cost as well: I am yet to find a cheaper vets in regards to exotics. That said though if they were the most expensive vets it would change nothing for me.Read Less

I had never had any problems with manor vets Halesowen they have always been great with my dog. However towards the end of my dogs life I learnt they will tell you anything to get money out of you even knowing and not telling you that your dogs life is coming to an end quickly, yet they will still do a point less operation and charge over 500 pound to do so, telling you your dogs quality of life will improve massively, they knew he had kidney failure from the blood test results and didn't tell us pre or post operation. Had we been informed we certainly wouldn't have put him through a castration operation at 12 and a half years old! Read Less

Im writing to share my experience regards to my visits, most significantly my last visit to Manor vets. I was already distressed due to my cat being unwell and on my visit I was put under more stress instead of being reassured, by false claims on what the illness could be just to charge me more money. On my visit I ended up spending 800 on tests that didn't give a diagnosis in the end. I then took my cat to another place that was recommended to me and the issue was resolved with just a simple remedy that cost me 38 which took effect within the next day. The staff at Manor vets were not compassionate what so ever which made the experience far worst for me. I have a persian cat and its always a high probability for them to have fur ball which causes severe vomiting, which I always resolve with fur ball paste however in this circumstance I was away so he did not receive the paste which caused the fur ball but manor vets did not take this into consideration and assumed the worst from the start and suggested X-rays, operations and endoscopy to see what could be causing the vomiting. I did go ahead and pay for some of these unnecessary suggestions. I just wanted to let others know that just because its a private vets they don't always offer the best service. Read Less

The team at Manor Vets in Northfield are amazing. Always welcoming and do absolutely anything they can do to help. Our spaniel, Cooper, fell ill just a few weeks after we got him. Marc and the team at Manor really cared for him and Marc even called a few days later to check on him. Great service all round. Dog owners everywhere - this is the only vet to consider in Birmingham! Cannot fault Manor vets. As a family we have used them for over 10 years. My puppy was so poorly and thanks to mark he saved her life for that I cannot thank them enough. We have had an experience in the past with a previous vets where they kept misdiagnosing our dog so we took him to Manor and they diagnosed the problem straight away after that we never had a problem. I have the most unluckiest golden retriever in the world, and she is only 8. Over the past 3-4 years she has had a mast cell tumour, torn cruciate ligament and was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago. Mark Barton, ( my wonder vet) has dealt with lily for the last two ailments, there are other nice vets too but I do like to deal with Mark! He knows where we are with lily and has even replied to my panicky early morning e mail, after lily had two fits close together, whilst we were camping with her. Please don't leave Mark Read Less

Read Less
