Took my nervous rescue dog Shadow for the first time to Maypole Vets. What lovely staff very friendly on reception. The vet was so kind & gentle understanding Shadow was scared. I took my Cavalier in to have teeth out. I was told he needed 15 teeth out and had a grade 4-5 heart murmur and would cost 1000. I took him back to my usual vets and although he had 13 teeth out he only had a grade 1 heart murmur. Cost 300. That vet was an elderly foreign gentleman (look out for him if you're going to use this practice). Read Less

we took out a puppy plan and all was good care of the dog was fine until... I had to give the dog to a friend as he did not take to my 3year old. The dog was due to be seen (under the plan structure) but we were told that the plan would no long cover the animal as we no longer owned him despite still taking money from my account each month. I explained the situation and that the plan covers the animal not me after a lot of back and forth conversations they said they would treat the dog, however when my friend took him in he was refused treatment. money still taken that month until I cancelled my direct debit. in short my experience shows they care about money not the animals they are paid to look after. Best Vets I have ever used, they really care about the animals, not like some who are just in it for the money or seem as if they are. I ran in one day with young lab in my arms as she was choking on something, they grabbed her straight off me ran with her, sedated her and removed the offending article stuck behind her teeth straight away, no questions. Staff are all extremely friendly, very reasonably priced and most importantly they clearly know exactly what they're doing and have a great range of knowledge on a large variety of animals. My rabbit has twice had a life threatening condition (which even the vets didn't think he had good chances of surviving) and managed to pull through due to the care and hard work of these vets. Would highly recommend Stephanie Tickle (very reassuring and informative, let's you know exactly what the problem is, how it happens and how it will be treated). Wouldn't go anywhere else now.
