Sandon Veterinary Group (Manor)

Birmingham, West Midlands
General Info
Manor’s roots are deep, going back more than 120 years to when the practice serviced the pit ponies. In the mid-20th century it was owned and run by the famous horse vet Mr Dawes. He was renowned for his knowledge of equine medicine and was president of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for many years.
Today we are still renowned for our expertise and we have won several awards for our innovative approach to veterinary practice, especially client care.
We encourage our medical staff to continue their education in specialist fields in order to expand their knowledge and keep it up to date. Our aim is to discuss all aspects of your pet’s health with you, offering you all the options that are available in treatment and prevention. We understand and respect the fact that not all clients have the ability to fund the most advanced treatments.

For those of you who might have a reptile and are considering taking them to manor vets I'd highly recommend it. I've seen a total of 14 vets for my current bearded dragon across different practices, very rarely seeing the same vet twice, often due to advice that would that is simply just wrong when compared to the literature or is now outdated. I've seen 4 vets at manor vets (Steph, Jack, Tom, and lastly Sergio). All have left I believe, apart from Sergio, for other opportunities. These are the only 4 vets I have ever seen of the 14 I would ever see more than once (seen Sergio 5-6 times). Their clinical decisions have so far always been right (and often in direct contradiction to previous exotic vets closer to home I have seen before resorting to traveling to manor vets). I have the luxury of being able to read everything I can about bearded dragon research/recommendations to make informed choices and even when I only have to know everything about one species -- and they have to know everything about all the species -- they have only agreed with me when I had got it right or seen through my mistakes when I had got it wrong. Something you hope from every vet but sadly manor vets is the only practice that has come through for me there. For those of you that might be interested in the cost as well: I am yet to find a cheaper vets in regards to exotics. That said though if they were the most expensive vets it would change nothing for me.Read Less

I had never had any problems with manor vets Halesowen they have always been great with my dog. However towards the end of my dogs life I learnt they will tell you anything to get money out of you even knowing and not telling you that your dogs life is coming to an end quickly, yet they will still do a point less operation and charge over 500 pound to do so, telling you your dogs quality of life will improve massively, they knew he had kidney failure from the blood test results and didn't tell us pre or post operation. We've been adopted by a cat who's clearly suffered some bad treatment in her fairly short life; we tried a couple of vets in the area who weren't really much cop, then came here. The vet who works in this building is clearly a genuine animal lover and was aghast that the other vets hadn't even prescribed some painkiller for the obvious distress she was in. In the end, she's had two operations to correct damage done by whoever was supposedly caring for her before and she's a much brighter and happier cat. She still doesn't want to go to the vet's any time we have a follow-up appointment, but she's happy to come out of her cage and say hi once we're there.
