My cat started experiencing seizures out of the blue this year, fortunately Monika has been on hand to do an absolutely fantastic job in helping stabilise and keep my cat well. All was usually well, that is, until I had to talk to once of the nurses, Kim, one morning, worried sick about the condition of my cat, I couldn’t believe how incredibly rude and unprofessional she was, it was shocking because the usual receptionist knows me by name and many of the staff recognise me and are happy to help, but this particular nurse kept me on the phone for a while arguing I can not be seen that day… I asked for a call back from a vet, my usual request that is always carried out because of my cats condition. I really hope Kim can learn to better speak to customers, perhaps some training is needed, her lack of regard for the situation was shocking and left me incredibly upset. Read Less

I can not believe some of the reviews here. I have been a client there for over 25 years and have never had cause to complain. Originally owned by Mr and Mrs Harrington both brilliant vets and Pablo was brilliant too. I find both Finton and Catherine very compassionate and and explain all options clearly. My old cat had to have an eye removed Finton explained that we could have further investigations but the outcome would probably be the same and Gerri was obviously in pain, something i didn't want to prolong and she was 14 years old so she stayed in and had her eye removed the next day, their care was exceptional. One of my current cats will need teeth removing at some point but we have been advised there is no rush, its not causing too much discomfort and it is being monitored. All the staff are wonderful. We are not as local as we use to be and travel 12 mile round trip where as it use to be less than a mile away. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Exceptional vets. Read Less

Fintan, Catherine and the staff at The Lodge looked after my golden retriever for most of her life. She was admitted for emergency surgery when she was five and had amazing treatment. Much later in her life she ruptured a cruciate ligament and had amazing treatment from Fintan who performed her operation, she was then able to lead an active life for several years afterwards. Fintan would frequently ask after her wellbeing and showed such interest in her. She had regular injections to help with her arthritis and was almost sixteen when I finally had to say goodbye. I couldn't have asked for an easier departure from this world for her, Catherine was so sensitive and caring. I cannot praise the practise enough and wouldn't take my animals anywhere else. Read Less

I do not do reviews normally, I prefer to speak to people, if I wish to thank or even remonstrate. However, I thought in this instance, I would like to give details of my experience of both Lodge Veteran Centres. I have taken my pets to The Lodge for well over 20 years. I have at the moment, two cats and two dogs all four of them enjoying older age, thanks in many ways to Mr. Farrelly and staff at The Lodge, as three out of four of my pets have ongoing medical conditions. I have found all staff at The Lodge Centres to be obliging, professional, compassionate and very friendly and can always in their busy day spare the time to have a chat with me. Mr. Farrelly in diagnosing and prescribing for the ailments of my pets, also, which is very important to me, will take the time to explain in detail the facts of my pets illnesss, giving me the full picture and medical alternatives, indeed, there have even been times when he has rang me at my home to discuss further, the details of a prognosis. Before I go on holiday I always ask Mr. Farrelly if he would take care of any unforeseen circumstances regarding my pets while I am away. I then confirm by letter details of the holiday dates, this information he adds to my pets files for reference. I advise where my pets are boarded, I try to arrange that any unwell pet would be taken to one or other of the Centres, where they would be medically treated accordingly. Also Mr. Farrelly has my written agreement that I will pay all bills whatever the cost on my return. This is especially important to me as with some of my holidays I have no means of constant contact with the U.K., so I am confident that Mr Farrelly will do what is necessary for the good of the pet concerned. I see the comments put on this review section and I just want give people the benefit of my experience with this practice. I have used this veterinary practice for 30 or more years and take all my animals there over their lifetime. I have spent thousands of pounds in veterinary fees. I have never had my animals insured so the money spent has been all paid by myself. I go back the days when Mrs Harrington owned the practice and indeed my friend Pablo who unfortunately sold it and went back to his homeland Spain to practice. A gentleman and brilliant vet who looked after our animal very well. Then came along a veterinary surgeon by the name of Finton O'Farrelly, in my opinion, a man lacking empathy towards his clients. Lacks personality and doesn't appear to have much time for anyone and comes across as rank ignorant. I am currently on holiday and my dog a one year old Papillon has come down with quite a bad skin infection. My daughter telephoned the practice to book the dog in for a consultation because he is quite irritated by the infection. She asked if the vet would take a look at the dog and we would pay the bill upon our return. We have done this before with no problem and the minute we returned we have attended the vet and paid the bill. On this occasion Mr O'Farrelly decided it was not something he was willing to do for whatever reason. Even though he knows us and we are good clients, he refused. Now that is his prerogative to refuse and leave the animal suffering. I appreciate that this is not a life and death situation but I find it quite incredible that after all the loyalty we have shown towards his practice over the years that he would be so uncaring towards us and the animal. We shall never use his practice again and now use the services of Oakfields Veterinary Practice at Bacon's End island. I shall make my feelings know on all local social media. It would appear that Lodge Veterinary Practice are all about profit and the caring part of their service is now seriously lacking. Mr O'Farrelly you are a disgrace. Read Less
