Connaught House Vets state "OUR MISSION. The Connaught House Veterinary Group aims to be the most trusted and respected provider of care to your animal. by delivering the best possible treatment …" Not for everyone. I went into the Tettenhall Road Practice on Saturday 19th August with a very sick 19 year old love of my life cat. Milly had started having seizures. She was a nervous cat and the last place she needed to be was in the vets. The vet said she needed to do bloods to see if the medication would work or harm her more. I knew she was more likely to be put down but bloods were taken and I was then told I had to wait 2 hrs for the vet to finish appointments and then the bloods will be back. I asked if I could take her home. I was told no. I stayed in a room on my own for 2hrs 20mins with not one single person checking in on me. I spent most of my time crying my eyes out and Milly wasn't having fun either. When the vet came back, we could have the medication but we waited 2hrs 20mins to find they didn't have the medication and I'd have to wait until Monday and get it from another branch if they have it. In the meantime, I could put a suppository up her bottom whilst she's having a seizure. No questions to me if I lived alone or if I could hold her down and give her a suppository or if I knew what to do with it properly. I asked if I could get the medication elsewhere. I was informed I would have to pay for a prescription and no suggestions of where to find it. I paid my hefty bill with no medication and the cost of a prescription. Having wasted valuable time searching and going to Bridgnorth to get the medication, time I could have spent with Milly. I then found out from the leaflet of the medication that it could take 2 weeks to take effect. I made the decision after another awful night that my wonderful girl was at the end of her life and got Dignipets out to put her down. I then got a call late Monday afternoon to say the medication is in Shifnal. No how is she or how are you doing? I informed the vet how disappointed I was and shared my experience. I wanted to say how disgusted I was but I was not in a good place. My pet and I were treated with no care or compassion and in all my years of using vets for horses, dogs, cats and alpacas I have never been treated with such indifference or lack of compassion like this before. Shocking. Read Less

Connaught Veterinary Hospital is a great vets in Wolverhampton. We have had them as our vets for a number of years with our current companion animals and former - we have two English Cocker Spaniels, Flossie & Dinky, a cat, Sephi and did have a French Lop Rabbit, Theo. All have visited Connaught Veterinary Hospital at some point whether for vaccinations, minor surgery, spay and neuter, and on a few occasions there have been the odd ear and eye infections. There have a been a couple of more serious issues also. At all times, the reception staff always treat us with the utmost respect and urgency. We can usually be fitted in fairly soon so waiting for an appointment isn't really an issue thankfully. The location is incredibly convenient as it's either a ten minute walk or 2 minutes by car. Also, they have other practices such as Codsall where we've also been seen which is handy if there is an emergency. We have a favourite vet we prefer to see, who is incredible. She is compassionate, empathic and thinks outside of the box. It was using such abstract thinking skills, as well as, of course her veterinary skills and knowledge that helped achieve a diagnosis in Dinky, our younger dog of ingrowing eyelashes! These have to be removed every so often which is obviously an unpleasant experience for him but we have seen and are aware of how well he is looked after when here. The veterinary nurses can't be helpful enough and Paige and Diane in particular as well as a few of the others (who's names I don't remember!) are hands down charming and lovely. My only criticism would be of the prices, which are pretty high for treatment and medication and also we think that when Dink goes in to have his eyelashes done, we don't think he's given water whilst there. Now whilst I can understand no water, nil by mouth for pre-ops or certain conditions, other animals should really be given water especially if there all day! What is particularly nice though is that evidently they hold on to their staff as the same staff have been there for quite some time and I know that they work TIRELESSLY for our companion animals. We regard them pretty highly and appreciate all the care and expertise they've offered us over the years for which we are very grateful. Read Less

I have been coming to Connaught for the care of all my animals for over a decade now and the service has always been fantastic, honest and most importantly in the best interests of every soul I have taken through the doors. This week I had the agonising task of having to bring my 6 month puppy in to have a nasty lump removed from his leg. As an anxious owner scared of putting him under an anaesthetic I wanted to know I could trust those who would be responsible for his care. All of the team looked after me and most importantly my puppy. We were kept in the loop through the whole of the procedure and felt assured at all times knowing that my dog was in the best possible care. I have been to a few different vets due to house moves but these disgust me...BOTH branches. I was told my dog had gone blind from a tumour and would die any moment and pretty much got kicked out of the consult room with no information or help living with a blind dog. It took several calls from me and the specialists calling to get a referral as conaughts wanted a MRI not an eye specialists??? I didn't leave a review as I preferred to calm down, moved vets and wished I had nothing further todo with these money grabbing people. Tonight I am away on holiday and I stupidly forgot my dogs metacam, despite it being put in his file by a Connaught vet that he can get this dispensed, they won't allow it to a local vet to help my boy!! I can't get him in the car because he's in discomfort getting in our truck and I can't get a call out because it's not an emergency! He's also had an overnight stay with an Xray after he'd somehow done some damage to his shoulder blades. He survived but is probably down to 8 lives now :) The staff are excellent. ** USE WITH CAUTION ** My daughter brought her 6 month old puppy here yesterday after noticing there was a problem with his mouth. After his consultation the result was that he had fractured his jaw. My daughter was told the devastating news that he would have to be euthanized as there was nothing that could be done for him. So distraught, she decided to contact another vet who agreed to see him as soon as she could get him there. He was diagnosed and options were explained thoroughly. A simple but complex procedure was performed and he was allowed home that afternoon, and even managed some food! He should make a full recovery :) ** IF YOU ARE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE FOR YOUR PET PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION. YOU COULD SAVE YOUR PET'S LIFE ** Read Less

I would like to say a very big thank you for the care Vet Sophie and Nurse Allison (Tettenhall surgery) gave to my much loved dog Flick during her last moments of her life, 6 weeks ago. They helped me to make the heartbreaking decision to have her put to sleep a little bit easier to bear. I appreciate so much the kindness shown to me and Flick. They came to my house and gave me as much time as I wanted to say goodbye. They treated Flick with the utmost respect and dignity, as if she was their own pet. Wrapped her gently in a lovely soft blanket and took her away. The surgery arranged to have her cremated and I could collect her ashes whenever I was ready. It came in the most gorgeous solid wooden box with name and everything. Well done to all the staff I had the pleasure to meet under these very difficult circumstances. Even our cat enjoys his visit to the vets; although, sadly, he does not pay the bill. He has his injections and gets his worming pills and a treatment for fleas. He's also had an overnight stay with an Xray after he'd somehow done some damage to his shoulder blades. He survived but is probably down to 8 lives now :) The staff are excellent. As a small criticism its a pity that the more exuberant pets are not better segregated from those in carrying cases. Read Less

Terrible. Took my dog to emerg appt. vet who didn't know what was wrong. At next review we found an ear problem. 2 claims were sent off wrongly to pet plan with an extra treatment on. I'm left with a bill because pet plan claims were sent wrong. Spoke to manager who said would investigate and call me back in 3 days. I eventually called her back after 1 week later to have to explain all again. I'm paying the bill as the hassle isn't worth it and taking my 2 dogs elsewhere. Read Less

Right down from the Vets to the nurses to the reception staff.Read Less

My Jack Russell bitch Dinky was attacked by a Japanese Akito and left with terrible wounds around her neck. This vet took her in immediately and saved her life. Communication was good and the care was very professional. She is lucky to be alive and would not have been without their excellent surgical skills and aftercare. I cannot thank them enough. And over a Bank Holiday weekend.Read Less
