Our dog has received excellent care here for over 11 years. Despite 4 operations for cancer, he goes in willingly and enjoys the fuss & cuddles he receives. The professionalism of Jenny & her staff is superb. I fully recommend them. Read Less

Absolutely awful practice. The practice manager very rude and cut me off on the phone. The vet doesn't listen. A very upsetting experience occurred and no past medical history was discussed with me as the pet owner by the vet. I love my pets, and have had many for decades. This practice need to learn the protocols for sick animals, investigate them appropriately to have a proper treatment plan. Be sure that all your questions are answered appropriately. Have a written treatment plan and written consultation. Owners are entitled to read clinical notes . Choices MUST be offered to pet owners. I don't recommend at all and am taking this matter seriously. Read Less

I've been coming to Portland Road Vets since we moved to Sussex 11 years ago. We arrived with two older, but healthy, dogs and the preventive care was first class. When the older of our two began to deteriorate at age 17, we had lots of care and good advice on living with an older (semi-incontinent) dog. The older dog died at age 18. I believe she made it to that age in good heart because of the helpfulness and care of Portland Vets. The younger one is now 18, and is always fussed over by the staff. The telling thing, for me, is that she is not nervous of going to the vet's! They look after her with care and sympathy, and communicate well with us her owners on how best to look after her. I cannot thank Portland Vets enough for all the time & effort they have put into getting our pup fighting fit. Coco our pug was diagnosed with Demodex Mite, which made him so unbelievably sick & down in himself. It was absolutely heartbreaking watching him deteriorate daily. All the staff from the receptionists, admin, nurses and vets were & still are my absolute rock. I honestly could not recommend them enough. I am so very very grateful for each & every one of you for stepping in when you did & getting him on the road to recovery. He was awarded with the practices Purple Heart Bravery Award last week which was another beautiful touch by all the staff to award Coco with this after such a tough battle. They go absolutely above & beyond for all their patients & owners, therefore I will forever be singing their praises & recommending them to anyone who has a pet. Portland Vets were extremely caring and attentive when my cat was injured - I couldn't recommend them enough for the attention they showed. Even as a new customer with no past history the wonderful receptionist recognised the distress I was in and arranged for me to bring my cat straight in to be assessed after his accident. Last week was my 1st visit to Portland Road. We moved to Sharpthorne nearly a year ago but kept the same vets but felt the trip of 35+miles round trip was too stressful for 2timid cats. Last week one of them unfortunately got a Tick in her head and my friend recommended I phone Portland Road. From the first contact with the kind helpful receptionist to actually coming into the clinic it was all easy, calm and professional. The appointment was with the nurse who treated Lola with kindness and a calm gentle manner as she is very shy and timid. She gave her a thorough checkup, removed the Tick quickly and gave great advice. Both cats are now registered with the practice and I shall be happily recommending (in fact I already have to my neighbour!) and singing your praises. Thank you all for your help. Read Less
