Exceptional - Max, our 13year old golden retriever became suddenly very unwell with Vestibular Disease. He took a long time to recover and needed intensive support in the veterinary hospital. The care he received from the whole team was outstanding, and we were welcomed to visit to keep him happy. Probably one of the longest staying patients Max's care was centred around his needs and our views were taken on board all of the time. He couldn't stand for 10 days and walked only on day 12, when he came home. We couldn't have hoped for a more responsive and caring team keeping us up to day with texts, phone calls and discussions. I have been using Grove Lodge for many years now after going to various other local vets. They have always been excellent in every way with all my (various!) pets and I have complete faith in them. Sometimes the appointments are running a little late but only because they spend as long as is needed with each animal, which is so important. I lost my beloved labrador after a traumatic incident just over a year ago. The staff at Grove Lodge fought tirelessly for him and with him for over a week and their empathy for me as an owner was so heartwarming. I shall always be grateful. Read Less

Wrote an email to the clinic, still haven't had a reply. Yesterday evening my partner rang your emergency phone number. Our pet budgie was not well and we were worried she was suffering. Upon speaking to who I assume was the receptionist and expressing our concerns we were told that because of avian flu we would not be allowed access to the building. While I appreciate that there have been cases of this virus, my pet posed little risk; she lived in our house and was not exposed to any other birds. It was very distressing to then be told that for a charge of £125 a vet could conduct an ‘in car consultation’. While I would have happily paid the fee to ensure she received the correct treatment, what would have been the point when the treatment couldn’t have been administered. Following a slow and stressful few hours my budgie deteriorated. It was heart-breaking to watch her suffer and I felt so useless. I thought that veterinary practises such as yourself were supposed to have an animals best interest as priority. I am disgusted by the lack of empathy shown and guilt ridden that I was forced into a position where I could do nothing to help my pet. Read Less

We have attended Grove Lodge for about 12 years. The service has always been excellent right from the start. We have seen the general vets, Mark the orthopaedic specialist, the nursing staff and also the behaviourist for firework advice. This practice has always given first class care. What they are not sure about, they consult on with each other and for us they saved our whippets life by transferring him to a specialist centre. He was only about 5 months old and Grove are still caring for him now when he needs them. I have attended two other practices before I found Grove Lodge and I am sorry to say that the standards were not good. At Grove you can book an appointment with a specific vet if you want to, which, if its an on going problem, gives you good continuity of care. I would recommend Grove Lodge to everyone as a first class practice. Read Less

When I went they were very friendly at first but when I went I did express the fact that I couldn't wait for my later on appointment (free) at my vets else were as my bunny was in desperate need to be Seen but I was told it would be free! And when I told her I had no money and to tell me if i needed to pay I would've waited for the other appointment and she didn't. So when I went in had my appointment the vet was lovely btw! Terrible experience again and for the last time. Had to be registered there due to our cats being from cat protection.. just been for vaccinations.they managed to loose the cat behind there fridge which I had to pull out. Once got our cat out gave to the vet, managed to drop our cat from chest height. We soon put out cat back into the box and left other cat in his box, and left ASAP.Read Less

I have a lot of animals and Grove Lodge is the only vet we would go to. They have saved one of my dog's life twice and when we recently had to have one of our beloved cat's put to sleep the vet could not have been kinder or more sensitive - I cannot recommend them more. Read Less

Took my little boys pet Pygmy hedgehog last Saturday, have no complaints they were all so lovely, professional and although we had to,have him put to sleep,the vet spent a long time explaining to my little boy what was going to happen and how! So nicely done! Helped him a lot! Read Less

The old saying 'wolf in sheep's clothing' springs to mind when dealing with this veterinary concern! On the one hand, your first contact [in person] with them is all sweetness and light and they promise you the moon, tell you this and that and every thing they will do for you!!! But when it comes time to put things into practice in the cold light of day, all you really get is a Stone Cold Reception, Bad Attitude followed by Lame Excuse after Lame Excuse? Then trying to contact them by phone is at best a nightmare and should you manage to (eventually) get through and speak to one of the most unhelpful members of staff going ... [this is talking about their Worthing Branch] you get spoken to by acid tongued staff members who then takes great delight in trying to make you feel guilty for disturbing them as 'they are all so busy and have better things to do than waste that time answering your silly concerns over the phone'! ... REALLY!!! If I was so inclined - anyone who spoke and dealt with my wife in the way they have over a sick animal - I'd be straight round there and right up in their face ... and not in a pleasant way!!! [ It's just lucky I'm trained to resist such urges when dealing with such low class members of our society? ] So be warned ... they are all about Money over Service, as long as the fee's keep rolling in, their happy and as long as THEY are happy then that's OK. Had to take my cat Blondie to the out of hours due to noticing a nasty weeping sore around her neck. She was seen promptly and the vet was brilliant. Gave her everything she needed from anti biotics to steroids and clearly explained the dosage to me so I could care for her properly at home. I highly recommend them! Read Less

Grove lodge staff need to be more polite with people who rescue animals hot on the road and at least give them updates when requested and not be told once animals handed over u loose the rights to information! What are they hiding! ! Read Less

200 to X-Ray a Jack Russell's leg? My other half can get a mobile X-Ray bought to her horse in a field for half of that. 40 to put a dressing on a small leg? 70 for an emergency appointment when they have a vet in the premises during open hours. Told to pick dog up at 6:30 and they were still mucking about at 7:10 as the dressing that cost 40 had slipped off. This place doesn't care about animals it cares about profit and ripping people off. Some of the staff were ok but most were clueless. I don't care about spending money if my dog needs help, but I do care about value for money. Rip off merchants. I think grove lodge are very unprofessional, my parents took their puppy to grove lodge and he was diagnosed with a heart condition, as my parents didn't have insurance the nurse told them that maybe she should of got a dog from Shoreham dogs trust so then she wouldn't have vet bills, the cardiologist also told my parents to make sure the puppy has a happy life as he could drop down dead at anytime. They wanted my parents to spend a 1,000 to look at the puppy, my parents simply couldn't afford this so they paid 300 for a scan, grove lodge then told my parents that he couldn't be treated but did they want to investigate further (costing more money) grove lodge then became very unsympathetic and unhelpful once they released my parents weren't going to pay the 1,000. We also asked the vet if the puppy was born with this condition and she explained she was unable to tell us without investigation (1,000) yet the breeder of the puppy was told (by the same vet) that the puppy was not born with the condition. We have written a complaint to grove lodge and we received a letter back explaining that a reply will happen within 14 days. It has been roughly 6 weeks and we still have not had a reply. Disgusting behaviour from a vet survey that is meant to care about their animals. AVOID! My parents have since removed their puppy and found another vet surgery.Read Less

I cannot thank the lovely staff at Grove Lodge enough, my gorgeous Ashley was hit by a car on the Friday of the bank holiday (possibly the worst time possible) but they were able to fix him up with the best possible love and care. Sadly he had to have a leg amputated but he's back home with us now and we're hoping for a speed recovery. I am so grateful, what a lovely bunch of caring people.
