I have used Hird and Partners for all my dogs and cat over the last 20 years or so . I have found them to be at all times, professional, caring, kind and considerate. They have attended my home when 2 of my beautiful dogs needed to pass from this world, so they could pass in my arms at home. I have no idea how much other vets charge but I have never felt cheated or conned at Hird and Partners. They have cared for my animals and always gone that extra mile for the animals welfare They are in my opinion from receptionists and nurses to the vets absolute caring professionals , they tell me how it is and if it can be put right. I have absolute faith in them

My cat went in for a procedure and came out a cash cow. As that is all Hird and partners see your pets as. I don't think it's a coincidence that nearly all their other negative reviews mention how expensive it is (One customer mentions being charged over £500 for X-Rays!)
Our cat went in for a simple de-knotting. We had already gone to the Ripponden Branch who advised that we should take her to Halifax to have the knots combed out but it would require sedation. We had already done this at a local vet in Cheshire who charged around £90 to do this so we got her booked in.
Everything went well until we came to pay. We did a double-take as we were told the cost would be nearly £175. After asking for a break-down I can see you quadruple pay for the sedating as follows:
- Sedation (Charge One) - £42.83
- Antisden - 0.09 ml - £11.49
- DOMITOR - 0.18ml - £12.61
- TORBUGESIC - 0.14ml - £12.04
I dread to think of the sedation charges for a Great Dane..
The de-matting (running through the fur of the cat with a comb) came to a very specific £95.12.
I think it's important for people to make educated decisions and to know what they are paying for. A quick Google search shows that the cost price of 0.09ml of Antisden is £1.03. Hird and partners are charging a 99.1% mark-up on Antisden. The other drugs also have similar markups. So they're charging you once for the sedation (fair enough) and then charging nearly £40 for £3-4 worth for drugs.
After raising my legitimate concerns with them before writing a review, I was given a termination notice (Like I would be using them again anyway). Unfortunately, they clearly seek money over service at all costs. I would highly recommend the following vets (if you do not want to pay extortionate prices).
- Friendly Animal Clinic - Sowerby Bridge (After speaking to this vet, the same treatment as listed above was quoted to me as £80-100 Vs £175 from Hirds.
- Donaldson's Vets - Sowerby Bridge
- West Mounts Vets - Halifax
In short, you pay way above average at Hird and Partners and I would recommend registering at one of the above practices. You wouldn't pay £5 for a banana, why do the same with a vet?

I had to make the difficult decision to have my dog put to sleep last week, I can not thank the team that was working we were taking into a room via the back of building avoiding the usual unfamilar surroundings and smells of a vets, the room wasn't anything like the usual consulting and treatment rooms, they laid her blanket from home down for her to be on, the room was more like a living room, my girl was fully at ease & relaxed in the surroundings, they treated us both with care. They were professional in the procedure & gave me the time and privacy following to be alone with her, they also asked if I wanted some of her fur,it was handed to me in a little bottle, They have thought and put things in place for making such an awful event much more gentle on pet and owner and the wellbeing of the animal at such point being as at ease as possible. I can not thank the team enough for making our goodbye as gentle as it could be.

My cat was injured in a road accident, fractured her pelvis in 2 places. She had to stay in a pen for 7 days with round the clock monitoring, intravenous pain relief and fluids. I visited her every day and was always made very welcome. I also had updates on her progress every morning. I have used Hirds vets for nearly 30 years now. A wonderful team of vets and nurses, highly recommended.

I can not thank these guys enough ! After being told my cat would die after a terrible Labour I rang to have her put to sleep as I couldn’t see her in any more pain the amazing vet Johnathon scanned her then operated and saved her life ! We had a lot of donations from people of Halifax to help save her and with that and the vet she’s still alive now & home with her last live kitten ! I can not put into words how amazing they are & what they done . I will be eternally great full and will never be able to thank them enough

Sadly I had to help my old puss cat grow her wings with the help of Hirds on Saturday morning. I cannot put into words how wonderful they were and the room they have dedicated to people who need time with their loved furries before the end is wonderful. I was able to let her out of the basket and she managed to get onto the settee and lay down and looked so relaxed. My whole family use this vets. Their love and care for your animals is special my favourite vet is Eddie Burt. He is a genius and the best I've ever dealt with. This vet kept my dying dig schindler alive and well for 3 extra months.he would not have had such a full life if not for their care. At the time we had to let him go they did it with dignity and love. I would never take a pet anywhere other than Hirds. My mum feels the same. They are excellent. I have also asked about hydrotherapy for my dog twice and promised twice that I would receive a call but nothing. I will now have to make another unnecessary trip on Tuesday when tablets are ready. The service of late is very very poor and I am becoming more and more disappointed with this practice.

I'm so glad we got a second opinion before we went ahead with the 3k plus operation they recommend for one of our dogs, after 6 months of treatment, one GA, several tests and no improvement- we changed vet- they told us the treatment being provided was the incorrect treatment for the bug Hirds had identified through testing. We found the vets to be rude and dismissive when we questioned alternatives other than the very costly operation, which had no guarantee to solve the problems. Alongside this they also told us our dog's teeth were rotting and needed a separate operation to clean/remove them- they need cleaning for plaque removing. They had been recommended, however I'd just add them to the long list of vets in it for the money. *4 months on with a new vet, right treatment and a change of diet, she is doing amazing*

Best vet we have visited! Unfortunately not under the best circumstances. Finding a vet that has experience with chickens is very difficult so we made the trip from Batley to Halifax. We arrived at the wrong centre and ended up being half an hour late to our actual appointment, the last of the day. All the staff have been incredibly understanding, and whilst old speckled hen had to be put to sleep, the vet was amazing. Allowing us to spend time with her, talking us through what was going to happen we were not rushed out despite it being way past their home time. I cannot thank them enough! Absolutely amazing people!

I have used Hird and Partners for all my dogs and cat over the last 20 years or so . I have found them to be at all times, professional, caring, kind and considerate. They have attended my home when 2 of my beautiful dogs needed to pass from this world, so they could pass in my arms at home. I have no idea how much other vets charge but I have never felt cheated or conned at Hird and Partners. They have cared for my animals and always gone that extra mile for the animals welfare They are in my opinion from receptionists and nurses to the vets absolute caring professionals , they tell me how it is and if it can be put right. I have absolute faith in them

My cat went in for a procedure and came out a cash cow. As that is all Hird and partners see your pets as. I don't think it's a coincidence that nearly all their other negative reviews mention how expensive it is (One customer mentions being charged over £500 for X-Rays!)
Our cat went in for a simple de-knotting. We had already gone to the Ripponden Branch who advised that we should take her to Halifax to have the knots combed out but it would require sedation. We had already done this at a local vet in Cheshire who charged around £90 to do this so we got her booked in.
Everything went well until we came to pay. We did a double-take as we were told the cost would be nearly £175. After asking for a break-down I can see you quadruple pay for the sedating as follows:
- Sedation (Charge One) - £42.83
- Antisden - 0.09 ml - £11.49
- DOMITOR - 0.18ml - £12.61
- TORBUGESIC - 0.14ml - £12.04
I dread to think of the sedation charges for a Great Dane..
The de-matting (running through the fur of the cat with a comb) came to a very specific £95.12.
I think it's important for people to make educated decisions and to know what they are paying for. A quick Google search shows that the cost price of 0.09ml of Antisden is £1.03. Hird and partners are charging a 99.1% mark-up on Antisden. The other drugs also have similar markups. So they're charging you once for the sedation (fair enough) and then charging nearly £40 for £3-4 worth for drugs.
After raising my legitimate concerns with them before writing a review, I was given a termination notice (Like I would be using them again anyway). Unfortunately, they clearly seek money over service at all costs. I would highly recommend the following vets (if you do not want to pay extortionate prices).
- Friendly Animal Clinic - Sowerby Bridge (After speaking to this vet, the same treatment as listed above was quoted to me as £80-100 Vs £175 from Hirds.
- Donaldson's Vets - Sowerby Bridge
- West Mounts Vets - Halifax
In short, you pay way above average at Hird and Partners and I would recommend registering at one of the above practices. You wouldn't pay £5 for a banana, why do the same with a vet?

I had to make the difficult decision to have my dog put to sleep last week, I can not thank the team that was working we were taking into a room via the back of building avoiding the usual unfamilar surroundings and smells of a vets, the room wasn't anything like the usual consulting and treatment rooms, they laid her blanket from home down for her to be on, the room was more like a living room, my girl was fully at ease & relaxed in the surroundings, they treated us both with care. They were professional in the procedure & gave me the time and privacy following to be alone with her, they also asked if I wanted some of her fur,it was handed to me in a little bottle, They have thought and put things in place for making such an awful event much more gentle on pet and owner and the wellbeing of the animal at such point being as at ease as possible. I can not thank the team enough for making our goodbye as gentle as it could be.

My cat was injured in a road accident, fractured her pelvis in 2 places. She had to stay in a pen for 7 days with round the clock monitoring, intravenous pain relief and fluids. I visited her every day and was always made very welcome. I also had updates on her progress every morning. I have used Hirds vets for nearly 30 years now. A wonderful team of vets and nurses, highly recommended.

I can not thank these guys enough ! After being told my cat would die after a terrible Labour I rang to have her put to sleep as I couldn’t see her in any more pain the amazing vet Johnathon scanned her then operated and saved her life ! We had a lot of donations from people of Halifax to help save her and with that and the vet she’s still alive now & home with her last live kitten ! I can not put into words how amazing they are & what they done . I will be eternally great full and will never be able to thank them enough

Sadly I had to help my old puss cat grow her wings with the help of Hirds on Saturday morning. I cannot put into words how wonderful they were and the room they have dedicated to people who need time with their loved furries before the end is wonderful. I was able to let her out of the basket and she managed to get onto the settee and lay down and looked so relaxed. This in itself helped knowing she wasn't stressed Thank you for your continuous wonderful service

My whole family use this vets. Their love and care for your animals is special my favourite vet is Eddie Burt. He is a genius and the best I've ever dealt with. This vet kept my dying dig schindler alive and well for 3 extra months.he would not have had such a full life if not for their care. At the time we had to let him go they did it with dignity and love. I would never take a pet anywhere other than Hirds. My mum feels the same. They are excellent. I have just been to pick up my dogs painkillers ordered over a week ago with an agreed pick up day for today, only to be told they were only ordered yesterday by the branch so not available. I have also asked about hydrotherapy for my dog twice and promised twice that I would receive a call but nothing. I will now have to make another unnecessary trip on Tuesday when tablets are ready. The service of late is very very poor and I am becoming more and more disappointed with this practice.

I'm so glad we got a second opinion before we went ahead with the 3k plus operation they recommend for one of our dogs, after 6 months of treatment, one GA, several tests and no improvement- we changed vet- they told us the treatment being provided was the incorrect treatment for the bug Hirds had identified through testing. We found the vets to be rude and dismissive when we questioned alternatives other than the very costly operation, which had no guarantee to solve the problems. Alongside this they also told us our dog's teeth were rotting and needed a separate operation to clean/remove them- they need cleaning for plaque removing. They had been recommended, however I'd just add them to the long list of vets in it for the money. *4 months on with a new vet, right treatment and a change of diet, she is doing amazing*

Best vet we have visited! Unfortunately not under the best circumstances. Finding a vet that has experience with chickens is very difficult so we made the trip from Batley to Halifax. We arrived at the wrong centre and ended up being half an hour late to our actual appointment, the last of the day. All the staff have been incredibly understanding, and whilst old speckled hen had to be put to sleep, the vet was amazing. Allowing us to spend time with her, talking us through what was going to happen we were not rushed out despite it being way past their home time. I cannot thank them enough! Absolutely amazing people!
