I have used Hird and Partners for all my dogs and cat over the last 20 years or so . I have found them to be at all times, professional, caring, kind and considerate. They have attended my home when 2 of my beautiful dogs needed to pass from this world, so they could pass in my arms at home. I have no idea how much other vets charge but I have never felt cheated or conned at Hird and Partners. They have cared for my animals and always gone that extra mile for the animals welfare They are in my opinion from receptionists and nurses to the vets absolute caring professionals , they tell me how it is and if it can be put right. My cat went in for a procedure and came out a cash cow. As that is all Hird and partners see your pets as. I don't think it's a coincidence that nearly all their other negative reviews mention how expensive it is (One customer mentions being charged over £500 for X-Rays!) Our cat went in for a simple de-knotting. We had already gone to the Ripponden Branch who advised that we should take her to Halifax to have the knots combed out but it would require sedation. We had already done this at a local vet in Cheshire who charged around £90 to do this so we got her booked in. Everything went well until we came to pay. We did a double-take as we were told the cost would be nearly £175. After asking for a break-down I can see you quadruple pay for the sedating as follows: - Sedation (Charge One) - £42.83 - Antisden - 0.09 ml - £11.49 - DOMITOR - 0.18ml - £12.61 - TORBUGESIC - 0.14ml - £12.04 I dread to think of the sedation charges for a Great Dane.. The de-matting (running through the fur of the cat with a comb) came to a very specific £95.12. I think it's important for people to make educated decisions and to know what they are paying for. A quick Google search shows that the cost price of 0.09ml of Antisden is £1.03. Hird and partners are charging a 99.1% mark-up on Antisden. The other drugs also have similar markups. So they're charging you once for the sedation (fair enough) and then charging nearly £40 for £3-4 worth for drugs. After raising my legitimate concerns with them before writing a review, I was given a termination notice (Like I would be using them again anyway). Unfortunately, they clearly seek money over service at all costs. I would highly recommend the following vets (if you do not want to pay extortionate prices). - Friendly Animal Clinic - Sowerby Bridge (After speaking to this vet, the same treatment as listed above was quoted to me as £80-100 Vs £175 from Hirds. - Donaldson's Vets - Sowerby Bridge - West Mounts Vets - Halifax In short, you pay way above average at Hird and Partners and I would recommend registering at one of the above practices. You wouldn't pay £5 for a banana, why do the same with a vet? Read Less

I had to make the difficult decision to have my dog put to sleep last week, I can not thank the team that was working we were taking into a room via the back of building avoiding the usual unfamilar surroundings and smells of a vets, the room wasn't anything like the usual consulting and treatment rooms, they laid her blanket from home down for her to be on, the room was more like a living room, my girl was fully at ease & relaxed in the surroundings, they treated us both with care. They were professional in the procedure & gave me the time and privacy following to be alone with her, they also asked if I wanted some of her fur,it was handed to me in a little bottle, They have thought and put things in place for making such an awful event much more gentle on pet and owner and the wellbeing of the animal at such point being as at ease as possible. I can not thank the team enough for making our goodbye as gentle as it could be. Read Less
