I'm afraid I was totally disgusted with the service here. I took my disabled, 80yr old mum's, 21 year old cat in, after he'd lost a huge amount of weight. Firstly Natalie said he had a severe plaque problem (no doubt true) and whilst I held him, she started pulling plaque off his teeth, and somehow pulled his tooth out. Poor Smokey was struggling with what must have been a pretty traumatic, not to mention painful experience. Then she said she wanted blood tests as she suspected hyperthyroidism. However, she wanted a full blood scan at 157, not just the thyroid check, despite my mum struggling to pay out of her pension. I was encouraged to wait outside while they took his blood, but I asked to be present, for Smokey's sake. I soon discovered why she wanted me out of sight. When it came to getting blood from Smokey's jugular, she had FIVE attempts at stabbing him in the throat with the needle without drawing a single drop. In the end, the male nurse who'd been holding him had a go, and thankfully managed it. The following day I got the results and at least she diagnosed correctly. I explained I wanted a written prescription to purchase drugs online, but they would only give me 3 weeks supply as they want to put Smokey through the horrendous torture of another blood test in 3 weeks. Believe me. I will have found a far more competent and compassionate vet by then! Oh and one other thing. Everyone who came out of a consultation was met by a receptionist trying to get them to book their animals in for dental work - regardless of how young or old that animal was. Money! Money!
