Just recently moved to the area and my dog was due his boosters injections, phoned up and made an appointment for the next day, very friendly and very welcoming, thoroughly checked over my dog and weighed him, where as some vets just give them there injections and that is it. Have been bringing my dogs here for their yearly boosters for the last 13 years. Staff are always friendly. The entrance is easily accessible for wheelchairs/pushchairs. Doggy poo bags are available if your pet as an accident and there is also a jar of free pet treats on the counter.Read Less

Just had our dachshund spayed by keyhole surgery and she was up and running the same day as if nothing had happened! Highly recommended. Excellent place. Friendly staff always willing to help or give an advice. If you're getting puppy, they have a good deal on vaccinations, micro chipping, de worming for around 40 in bundle. There is also free health check at 5 moths old. They have small car park although never had a problem with finding space. Read Less

Maisie was attacked by 2 dogs. Thankfully she was just battered and bruised with no lasting injuries. All the staff were fantastic whilst she was admitted. My husband and myself appreciate the way in which you looked after our beautiful Harvey during his short stay with you. Once again G&B have come through for myself and my Collies. Laddie is a nightmare with his claws and has pulled his dual out on a walk. Blood everywhere, not weight bearing, and thanks to John today (coming all the way from Doncaster on a Sunday) laddie is now pain free, laid in his bed and chewing his toothbrush Thank you for your patience, understanding and outstanding care. Sunday night I brought my dear old dog Balder to this vet. Sadly, his time had come and there was nothing anyone could do for him. Balder was not registered with this vet but was treated regardless - with most love and respect. The vet took great care of Balder and us to the very end. Then today, another great gesture from the vet arrived; a sweer card with their deepest condulances of the loss of Balder. This is the nicest thing I have ever experienced from a vet and I have had many animals during my lifetime. So we just want to say thank you ever so much for the great support during such a difficult time. He was loved and cared for to the very end . Dear greenwood & Browns I just want to thank you for your complete lack of care or compassion towards me and my dog Floyd yesterday! Refusing to see or treat him unless monies were paid that day, very difficult for most considering it's been Christmas. I did find a vet who said it is ' their duty of care to treat a sick animal with pain killers or antibiotics for 24 hours for free' Last night Floyd was diagnosed with syringomyelia so you can imagine the amount of pain and discomfort he is in. Our family is devastated by this news and with the help of the very kind vet we will try to keep his pain under control in the hope he can have a remaining quality of life. Your practice will never be visited by me and my dog again!! Once again thank you for your lack of care. I hope you realise the distress you caused me yesterday... In tears I begged you for help... We have only recently moved to the area and our 14yr old family cat Tiffany was involved in a fight with a LOCAL cat and was badly bitten. As we needed to find a local vet we came across this practice. We have visited today twice as Tiffany seemed to detriorate when we got home and we called them again being askec to come back at end of surgery. All the staff were extremely helpfull and friendly, but I must say the young lady vet was exceptional even being totally honest, when it meant Tiffanys injuries took a turn for the worst and she said it would be better for her to stay overnight and get some drains into her, but did say she had to be honest it was going to be expensive, but she felt that the outcome would be no diffetent and advised that it was upto us, but she did not think it made practical sense to put Tiffamy through that. What a wonderful quality, never heard or seen a vet turn down the opportinity of making more money. Sadly we had to make that difficult decision to allow Tiffany to leave us. The vet was so compassionate and sympathetic she was truely wonderful even oveecome with emotion herself. Her qualities should be bottled its very rare. Sadly the day did not end as we were expecting, but her compassion.was very much appreciated she was wonderful. Sadly our little friend is no longer with us, but I would just like to say a very big thank to that wonderful lady vet and keep up the good work, thank you so much for all you did and may you continue for a very long time doing the brilliant job you personally do. We are particularly grateful to Jenny for acting so speedily in giving George is diagnosis. Even though she referred George to a veterinary specialist the staff still kept in touch. Even though today is a very sad day I can not express how greatfull I am to Ryan who has been there for our beloved Vinny all week. Also Mr Brown who has dealt with the boys before. Guinea pigs are classed as exotic but we have found the best vets for them here. I cannot praise the staff at Greenwood & Brown enough, they are fantastic and I know I can rely on them. I have had and still have lots of animals, chinchilla's, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats and dogs. I moved to Pontefract in 2008 and haven't regretted needing to change vets, in fact it was the best thing I have done. When I changed vets I was pleasantly surprised to find out they offered free services such as health checks, weight loss clinic and physio clinic's, of which I have taken advantage of some of them. We have been to both Pontefract and Castleford surgeries and we are always treated well from the moment we walk through the door, the reception staff, nurses and vets are all very friendly and easy to talk to. I have to admit I can be over reactive if I think something is wrong with any of my pets but know I can ring them for advice and know they always have time and patience for me, even when I'm asking what later seems like a stupid question. On the sad occasions it was time to say goodbye to my pets the staff were always very compassionate and caring. Never once did I feel rushed in my goodbyes and was touched to receive cards of condolence which was very unexpected and very much appreciated the thought. I would be happy to recommend anyone to Greenwood & Brown, an excellent veterinary practice where nothing is too much trouble and the welfare of the animals is always priority. Read Less
