Rude, bad mannered reception staff ! I’ve spent a lot of money with this vets for my dog with their over priced medication fee’s 6 months ago I wanted a prescription for my dog, the vets informed me they haven’t got the treatment I needed in so gave me a prescription and actually said you’ll be able to get it online which I did half the price ! So I recently needed more so placed an order online and went back to get a prescription and mcarthur’s asked for a £16.00 fee I explained I hadn’t the last time and the lady on reception basically called me a lier and said they had plenty on the shelves ! I don’t mind paying a fee but £16 is quite excessive considering other vets only charge £6.00 . I also explained when receomendee to go online by one of the vets at the practice I was only charged £30 for the medication the receptionist said ‘well your lucky then we will charge you £60 . I cannot recommend this practice in any capacity. I have used many vets over the years in several countries, from expensive private practices to franchise branches of large companies. This practice is, by a very large margin, the worst I have ever been to. I foolishly took my dog here twice over a couple of weeks as he looked unwell. The vets found nothing wrong with him. I took him to a different vet's practice a few days later where he was diagnosed with massive internal bleeding and a ruptured cancer of the spleen, and he died a few weeks later. There are far better practices nearby and I recommend that you entrust your pet's wellbeing to one of those. Read Less

Both small and large animal vets are superb and very caring. They have looked after all my animals, from the yard cats, the dogs and valuable horses for many years. Last weekend I needed a vet very quickly early in the morning for a horse with an eye injury. From placing the call to the arrival of a vet was 20 minutes. This weekend the same horse needed further attention for a possible colic and again the service was second to none. The on call vet kept in touch with me throughout the night which was very reassuring. I thoroughly recommend MacArthur Barstow and Gibbs Veterinary Surgeons. Read Less

Dog had been diminishing for a couple of days and arranged for her to be put to sleep. The team from MBG came out to the house and were able to do it in a peaceful and respectful manner in the comfort of her own bed. Great work in what can only be a challenging work environment. Read Less

Put my cat through hell and back. Took her as she wasnt well and couldnt walk properly suddenly. they did Scans and then rang me and asked to do biopsies. I Asked them if it was cancer and they said said no but they don't know but she'll get better with anti inflammatory so tried them, no luck then other things for 3 months. Yet still wasn't getting better Spent £1000 which you knew would be no issue as I wanted what was best for her and I loved her so much. Then after finishing the last lot of pills I then got told it's a "unique condition" don't know what it is they wanted to do more tests and take her to an university in bristol as don't know what it is. I said no as I'm moving to bristol and have a vets ready for her plus she's been through enough! took her to a different vets got sent results on everything they did ! The look on her face told me straight away but she said it was bone cancer and how it couldn't be missed and she's been suffering for months! So my Lola suffered for months and was finally put to rest. I don't know if cause I'm young thought getting as much money out of me. But you made me and and my amazing Lola suffer for months with fake promises. If you weren't sure should never of given me hope! Read Less

The service I have received here has always been second to none. I have used both the small animal and the equine departments and vets and staff I dealt with were so lovely and of course knowledgeable. Really great bunch! Read Less
