This is an excellent local vets which is very friendly. They now have a special waiting area for cats where they can be away from other animals, especially dogs. There you can put your cat where they can see you and there are towels provided to put over the carrier to try and minimise their distress. Staff are wonderful and knowledgeable. Read Less

since getting our cat we were recommended to use Special Friends, and what a great recommendation that was! They're waiting room separates the dogs from cats with blankets provided in case they get worked up, the receptionist and all the vets we have met are some of most kind, caring and truly passionate people we have met, they don't over charge for care. The staff here are just fantastic and so helpful. I went there with my dog and they gave me advice on how to slow down her eating and how best to stop her lunging at other dogs. I didn't feel judged for having a nervous dog and she had a great time there, too! Read Less

One in particular has had a lot of issues over the last 12-18 months and the attention she has received from Tim and all the staff behind the scenes is second to none. Fantastic vets practice, Have been using them for about 12 months now as I was not impressed with a large chain vets I used to use. They are efficient, friendly, the staff all seem so helpful and personable. I never feel like I am being upsold things all the time like my previous vets. I never feel like they are rushing me through and they take the time to listen to your pets problems and are very understanding of one of my dogs who just hates going to the vet. I recently had to use them as my aforementioned hater of the vets dog was incredibly ill, they were absolutely wonderful, not only with him but myself and my 3 children who I had to take with me, nothing was to much trouble for them and they arranged for my dog to go to an overnight vets in nearby Bromsgrove, they were clear about costs and very thorough with the treatment. I had to take the dog back today for a follow up appointment and time again was taken to make sure everything was ok with a friendly and personal approach. The reception staff, nurses and vets at this practice are a real credit to the veterinary profession. Read Less

We adopted a senior cat April 2016 from Cramar but in the July she became very ill, so we rushed her to Special Friends. Unfortunately there wasn't anything that could be done to save her but the staff and filling in Veterinarian were so lovely and compassionate during our last few minutes with Stella. Without Special Friends we wouldn't have Baggins. Baggins is a very special cocker spaniel that has Haemophilia A, extremely rare in a cocker. As a Haemophiliac he needs very special care when he has an internal bleed. We would never take Baggins anywhere else. Special Friends have made sure that Baggins always gets the very latest and best treatment. In fact Baggins absolutely loves it there and to him it's an outing! He loves the staff there. We visited Special Friends with our dog Dylan, and Tim was very efficient in getting all of the necessary tests and scans done. We visited the vets four times in a week, but unfortunately Dylan was very poorly and nothing more could be done. I have been using Special Friends Vets for some time now, previously with my Chinchillas but most recently with my Jack Russell, Dave. He has been quite poorly and required two quite complicated operations in a short period of time. He is mainly treated by Tim who is a very talented, caring and professional vet who clearly knows exactly what he is doing and he is very good at it. He has always been very understanding and caring with Dave and has taken time to explain what needed to be done. The other vet Toby was always equally talented and caring when treating my chinchillas. The nurses are also very lovely and I have always found them to be very approachable, caring and willing take time to discuss follow ups. My dog Dave has a soft spot for Fran and does enjoys a fuss with her when we visit. The reception staff are very professional and willing to help. Overall I highly recommend Special Friends to anybody who requires a trustworthy and caring Vets Practice for those special friends in our lives. Read Less

I have been going to special friends for 9 and a half years - most weeks. I have been taking my Labrador Lucky to them regularly for many problems that he has had and my cats and all the staff over the years have been amazing. Lucky loves each and every one of them, they have become his second family and they have been very caring and patient with him especially when he doesn't want to give up his blood :) They have supported us as well during much of Lucky's treatment. The staff have always explained any treatments needed including side effects and risks. Nothing has been too much trouble for any of them. I've used Special Friends for 10 years and have had a few minor disappointments in the past but today I've given up and will take my dogs elsewhere. A month ago I booked my bitch in to be spayed today, this morning I took her in then got a phone call at 11 to say they could not spay her as she is in season but she is already sedated. They did not ask about her season when I booked it or dropped her off, I did not know she could not be spayed while she was in season and they hadn't told me or of course I would have booked it another time. When I went to pick her up I had no apology for unnecessarily sedating and stressing her and wasting our time. I suggested that when people booked bitches in to be spayed they let them know they must not be in season, I was told 'I'll pass the message on'. Charming, poor little dog now feeling very sorry for herself and all for nothing.Read Less

I have used special friends for 12 years since we moved to redditch with all my dogs and always seen Tim he is such a understanding and caring person for the last 7 yrs we have rescued retired greyhounds that are such a submissive breed but unfortunately they suffer with tooth problems Tim removed 12 of my Daisy teeth in Dec 20013 unfortunately she needed treatment again on 22 sep 2014 and he is so understanding and the girls you couldn't full such a happy helpful team can't thank you enough Tim X Read Less

We have been using Special Friends since we had out girls Mia and Freja and have always found them to be totally super.  Unfortunately a little while ago, our little girl Mia got run over and they were unable to save her and she passed away.  As our cats were microchipped, they were able to contact me at work to let me know what had happened and when i got there, they were amazing,  they didnt treat me like i was a freak for being so upset, they were kind, sympathetic and very very understanding and generous with their time and explanations into everything.   A couple of weeks later they sent us a little card expressing their sympathies.  What an amazing group of people.  They went out of their way for us as i am sure they do for all their clients both animal and human.  Would recommend them to anyone.
