Very sadly, our experience last week with Dr. Berry was our worst ever vet visit. He was more interested in his afternoon off and getting us out of his office than in the needs of our dog. He was unnecessarily rough with her, verbally critical of my wife and overall communicated by his demeanor that he did NOT want to serve us. We are bill-paying seniors who were staying in the area and this "treatment" played a major role in the death of our beloved pet. Read Less

I just moved to the area from out of state. I have a small wire fox terrier with separation anxiety. They made the transition go smoothly calling prior vet, getting records transferred, seeing my dog promptly, continuing his medication and boarding him. On my first visit, I wasn't even charged! They are very caring, take time to listen, give the best advice for my dog and are very reasonable for their services. It's about a 30 minute drive for me, but worth it! I have visited here twice and spoke on the phone with him once. Dr. Berry was very rude all three times but his staff was nice the two times I visited. I deal with a lot of rude people but he treated me and my dog like we were dirt on his shoe. I now go to Ardmore companion (just up the road) and the vet will sit down and talk for as long as you like and answer every single detailed question you have and the staff is all nice! I wouldn't recommend this vet if you have financial issues. I was working with a payment plan. When one of my cats became seriously ill and I took him, Dr. Berry jerked him out of the carrier and immediately laid into me about how much I owed. He had no consideration for my cat's condition, as evidenced by the way he callously treated him. My cat was ultimately euthanized because Dr. Berry refused to do the surgery he needed. When I asked why he didn't perform the necessary surgery in that office, he stated that "he didn't want to." The rest of the staff was always professional and compassionate. Dr. Berry is quite the opposite unless you can pay him up front. If you are struggling financially, he will treat you like a peasant and your pet like garbage. Read Less

Well, this is a sad day for me. I used Dr Berry for 16 years. I saved up to have 3 rescue dogs of mine teeth cleaned. Before I start I have been a hygienist for 16 years.. I know teeth and I know new and old tarter. I have deep scaled/root planed teeth for my whole 16 years. I trusted Dr Berry did a good job with my dogs teeth. I did not check them when I left. My bill was almost $1000.00. A week later I had one of my dogs in my house and saw alot of missed tarter that looked like they scribbled through it with the ultrasonic. I was still making payments and thought Dr Berry did the cleaning and was going to address a bit later when I got my bill down some. I did pay $600 down. My dog was hardly able to walk for a while long story short and he said he would reclean the dogs teeth. Well I went and looked at the other 2 dogs and their premolars and molars were never touched and heavy blowed up gums due to no tarter removed above or below the gumline. He let kids clean my dogs teeth instead of himself. In my shock, he did not make things right by getting them back for HIM to clean or any refund. I didnt pay the kennel help to clean my dogs teeth! I paid him! He left the room and let them clean my old dogs under anesthesia. It is Alabama law that if a vet tech cleans under anesthesia that they are to be under direct supervision the entire time. But they werent and they werent checked after the cleaning to make sure it was done. When he saw the pic of tarter that was taken a week after he said he would reclean my one dog and said it was an oversight. However when I looked at the others and sent pics of all the tarter I guess it was too much for him to accept. And took it out on me instead of who didnt do their job. Then again, they were supposed to be directly supervised. Total shock of his character and who I thought he was. Now I will have to save and go somewhere else and my old dogs will have to go under anesthesia again. He said tarter builds up quick..sure in some dogs. My dog isnt a shitzu eating off my dining room table with crowded teeth and generative bone loss. They are all full size and eat Pedigree only. This tarter isnt new! Im so upset after being a long time customer. A good customer..always paid my bills and done right by him. I guess with his soon retirement..people like me and making sure treatment is done before it goes out the door isnt important anymore. Things have changed there and I hate it. All that matters now is I get my dogs to someone else. Read Less

Bobby D. On Oct. 14 2016 I was returning home after picking up my new bulldog puppy from Berry animal hospital, when I had a very bad auto accident. My puppy was unhurt, but I spent the next 8 days in the hospital. Before I lost consciousness I asked someone at the accident site to take my dog back to Dr. Berry and they were kind enough to do it. After I was moved from ICU to a room where I could communicate, I found out that Dr. Berry had spent much of his time trying to find out how I was. When I did speak with him he told me he would keep my dog for me as long as needed. He assured me that my puppy was O.K. and for me to just get well. Its now Nov.11 and I just picked my dog up from Berry Animal Hospital almost a month later. Dr. Berry and Dr. Tucker, and all their staff had given my puppy the run of their clinic and cared for her as if she was their own. The only cost I incurred was the time without my dog and the normal meds she required while there. What a kind and caring gesture. I cannot find the words to describe what fine and caring people Doctors Berry and Tucker are. I will be forever grateful for their kindness. They not only care for animals, but for people as well. Love this place. Love the fact that we don't need an appointment. They are always so helpful and friendly. Not to mention very affordable. With 2 big dogs they make it affordable to maintain our dogs veterinary needs. Read Less

I can't thank the staff at Berry Animal Hospital enough for taking such good care of our Elsa while we were on vacation. They fixed her up and treated her skin condition. Its been a blessing to see her so relaxed and itch free since we've been home! Read Less
