Dr. Grantland and his staff see both of my dogs. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Grantland is outgoing and takes his time in the exams and talking with you about care options for your pets. He has been seeing my dogs since he took the practice over from Goodman. Dr Grantland brings up to date practices and folksy charm to the practice. While the staff is friendly, they are disorganized, scatter brained, unprofessional and borderline negligent. I tried them for the first time last week because they are closer to my house than the vet I had previoisly used, but was very disappointed. I took two cats in on Thursday to be spayed and vaccinated. I picked them up that afternoon with no issue, but Friday afternoon I received a phone call that they had not given one of the cats its shots, despite the fact that they had documented that it was complete and charges me for the shots the previous day. I received no explanation at that time and was told I had to make another appoint to bring the cat back in. I was unhappy with the inconvenience of having to make another trip to the vet but called Monday to make an appointment and got no answer. I called again Tuesday and was finally able to get an appointment even though it had to be at an inconvenient for me. When I got to the office, they took me in back and after a short wait came and gave the vaccinations. I asked for a copy of the cats records so that I could take them back to my old vet and the doctor became very defensive saying that they called me about their mistake so they had done their part. The only reason that I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is the fact that they at least called me about their error, but the major hassle I got when trying to get the vaccinations taken care of is not worth a slightly shorter drive. If you want bubbly conversation, by all means go here, but if you want your animals taken care of by competent professionals who perform the services you pay for, find another vet . Read Less

Doc and his staff take care of all my animals. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Also if I have an animal with an issue that I can't bring in he always takes his time helping me out by phone. And the bonus is I don't ever feel like I have to take out a second mortgage to pay the bill. Very reasonably priced. Read Less

I was searching for an reasonable vet this morning for a stray kitty I took in that has a bad infection. I went to athens animal clinic today for the first time since it is under new management and has a new vet. I was very surprised how well I was received and immediately taken care off. The kitten was checked out I received very good advise what to do and how to give the medication, j didn't have to wait like other places you wait forever to see the vet, and the best was that I wasn't charged an high price for trying to help a stray. I totally recommend the vet and his staff. Way to go a vet that doesn't charge so much that you can't even help a stray. If there be 10 stars they would have got them from me . Thanks. Dr. Grantland came over to our place yesterday to give the horses shots and a dental float on one. He was very good with the horses, keeping them calm during the exam and shots. He was also very patient with me as I tried to help keep the horse's head steady during the float - but we got it done!
