Took our new 4 month old puppy there. He had stopped eating and drinking. He was coughing, dehydrated, and lethargic. The doctor said all he had was bronchitis (kennel cough) and wanted to keep over night for fluids fr $650. That is on top of the $115 walk-in fee. We did not and they then charged us another $30 for not leaving him. They did sub q liquids and told us to syringe water into his mouth. Gave a script for antibiotic at Walmart. Next morning went to our local Vet who swabbed his butt and found he has the parasite giardia. Decatur did not do ANY tests. On the night of August the 2nd . I had to rush my Bassett hound baby of 12 yrs , Daisy Mae , to this clinic. Unfortunately she did not make it , she passed on the way there. You see it is an hour drive from where I live in Haleyville Alabama , to to get to this wonderful place for help. Even though she had passed, I still took her there because I was in so much shock and I just needed answers as to what happened to her ?! Dr. Zack and the staff at this clinic , I apologize for not remembering names, all of these people were so kind and caring . Daisy and I were treated with respect. Daisy was not treated as just another dog, she was treated as one of my beloved family members . Over the last week, we've had a terrible loss within our family. Two of our Dachshunds fought and one of them caused severe damage to the other. Long story short, we brought our Dachshund (Daisy) in and she was kept for exactly one week. Her initial prognosis was grim and, as a former vet tech, I would agree that most senior dogs wouldn't be able to recover well with that level of trauma with so many complicating factors. As the days passed, Daisy greatly improved and defied the odds that had been stacked against her. During her time at the hospital, I was given one of their exam rooms to spend as much time as I wanted with her. Seriously... I spent 8 hours in one day with this dog (Daisy is one of those special, once in a lifetime dogs for me). All seemed well and she looked like she was going to be able to come home the following week. I received a late night call, the one no one wants to get, and was told that Daisy had gone into cardiac arrest and they could not raise a heartbeat. At the time of the call, they were still working on her and I told them to stop. No one had any idea what it could have been and the veterinarian that Daisy had been assigned (Dr. Harriman) thinks it could have been a pulmonary embolism - unexpected and could not have been prevented. We had euthanized our other doxie the day before so the loss double loss was terrible. At the end of the ordeal, I am still very thankful to the extremely friendly staff and confident/qualified veterinarians. They were all wonderful and I witnessed, first hand, how they treat the animals in the back when their owners are not around...needless to say it made me extremely confident that I made the correct choice when placing Daisy into their care. I really cannot stress enough how wonderful every member of the staff was, how friendly and courteous they all were, and how everyone went above and beyond to make sure my dog was well taken care of and that our family was accommodated. I have absolutely no doubt that if I am ever in need of a specialist or ER services again, this will be the place that I go. Read Less

Utilized Veterinary Regional Referral Hospital on New Year's Day 2015 to treat my Canine Terrier Mix. Skin laceration over left knee. Sedated and the wound was clipped, cleaned and closed with skin staples. Written prescriptions for medications were provided to be filled at local human pharmacy along with written Discharge Instructions. Receptionist, Nurses and attending Veterinarian were extremely courteous and professional. All treatment risks and an estimate of the costs for veterinary services were provided prior to any procedure being initiated. Facility is modern and clean. I highly recommend VRRH in the event of an emergency pet injury or illness and your regular veterinarian is not available. Read Less

Took my 6 yr old dachshund here because of a type 1 disc herniation (IVDD ruptured disc). She arrived just after midnight and they ran some tests then they put her in a cage till 7:30 am when the doctor showed up. From what I understood, they were supposed to be a 24 hr clinic with emergency surgery capabilities... Well apparently not during certain hours. If you read up on these types of injuries time is of the essence.  It's been over a year later and she's probably at 65% recovered (docs prognosis was 95% after 6 months). My biggest problem with them is that they released her with absolutely NO pain meds. She underwent major spine surgery...and they gave her nothing. Pain management is a big part of recovery. All these things I've learned over the last year..wish I would have known then what I know now. Three stars because they've apparently done so many types of these surgeries and because the caretakers were so kind. It's hard to find a good clinic - especially under such circumstances. Read Less

If I could give you 10 stars I would and that would still not be enough. God Bless you all Read Less

Thank you for answering all of my questions with such patience , as I was trying to just find some understanding. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS SANDI WRIGHTRead Less

I would just like to thank Dr Jen Zach and all the wonderful caring people that we encountered while we were there this weekend(6/26/16) with our baby Tasha (14 yr old Teacup Yorkie.) I can not begin to express the level of caring and thoughtfulness from everyone we encountered. I can truly see why this office comes so highly recommended by other professionals. Worth the drive, I only wish I could find a human doctor in this area that had this much compassion and concern for their patients well-being! Read Less

Read Less

I took them a dog with a broken leg and now he is crippled for life and may need amputation. I was charged over $2000 for the so called services of their head surgeon. Give these people a pass.
