My dogs have been going to Nall Daniels for the past 1.5 years. They have slightly later hours than some vets, which has been nice with my work schedule. The longest we have ever sat in the waiting room is less than 5 minutes, although wait times once you reach the exam room is about average for most vets. I do think that their prices are high, but not exorbitant. The vets are very attentive and seem thorough. They actually call you to follow-up if your pet has been sick. My only complaint about this vet is the fact that they always say they are just taking my dogs to the back for weight and temperature readings only, but actually keep them back there for lengthy periods of time (up to 30 minutes at one point). I usually go looking for my dogs, only to be told that they went ahead and did the full exam etc. in the back without me present. I have a serious problem with this practice, because there is simply no way for me to know exactly what was done with/to my dogs without being present. During our last visit, which I thought was just for shots, they supposedly did a full exam with fecal and heartworm tests in addition to giving 3 shots. I NEVER gave permission for a full exam to be done. The cost for my two dogs was over $300 for this service. I was also never given the results for their heartworm or fecal tests, and my dogs had no bubbles under the skin indicating where shots were given. Since they are very short-haired and slender, I have never once seen my dogs get shots without a resulting raised area. I asked the tech to please point out where the shots were given so that I wouldn't push on the area, and the technician could not locate or indicate where the shots were administered. As such, I can't really be sure that the shots were given. After this, I requested that all examinations or services be done in my presence, and asked the administrative staff to document this request in my chart. Recently, I brought one of my dogs in for a possible illness. We had discussed possibly taking x-rays before I actually brought my dog in, but we agreed to discuss this after the examination and before the x-rays were taken to see if it was even necessary. Once again, my dog was taken to the back just for a weight/temp reading, and kept back there for 20 minutes. When I finally found someone to tell me what was going on, the vet had yet again supposedly fully examined my dog and had already done x-rays without even consulting me. A vet should always consult the owner and discuss prices before rendering any services. I understand that it may be easier for the vet techs to do certain procedures without owners present, since we can get in the way. However, no vet employee should tell the pet owner they are doing one thing, then go ahead and provide all services without the owner present. I am left feeling uncertain whether my dogs have received appropriate care, simply because I didn't see it. Nall Daniels may be an outstanding vet that simply doesn't follow the common practice of having the doctor examine animals with the owner present in an examination room, but I personally don't see how they can charge for a comprehensive examination if the owner can't see that one is really being done.
