Of over 30 years of dog ownership, Whitesburg Animal Hospital is THE BEST vet & boarding facility I have ever encountered. The genuine loving care of all staff members has given my dog peaceful enjoyable times when I've had to board him for travel, get shots for him, get his teeth cleaned, and get surgery for him. My dog actually loved this place and the atttention he received from all staff. The care, professionalism, cleanliness, and attitudes observed by me at this facility set a new standard that will probably not be surpassed by other facilities - probably not even approached... They saved the life of my Golden twice. The first time he was poisoned by treated lumber and the second time he developed throat cancer when he was seven. With their help he lived a great life until he was 15. I now have a yellow lab who goes crazy whenever we go by. After today's experience with one of the techs ,and after my request to speak with manager, hearing tech saying that I was arguing with her!? I am not from here, but they have no right to talk and treat people like that. Nobody gave them right to treat people like that. Who do they think they are! Have experienced wonderful service for our cats and dog. One of our cats had to be put down after a lengthy illness and they were so wonderful about that. Our dog got sick while he was being boarded and they did what we wanted and figured out what was the cause. Our dog is dying of cancer but is still happy and fairly energetic so they are supporting us with medication to help him a bit but totally on board with us on not trying to do desperate measures for a dog riddled with metastatic cancers throughout various organs. Yesterday I had to put my best friend, my cat, Pookie Bear down. I was grief stricken. The staff was very sympathetic and Dr. Russell was extremely comforting. He was straight forward but compassionate until the time came I had to make a decision. Dr. Russell was tender with him all the way. They fulfilled all my requests for my last moments with Pookie and after. I even felt the need to talk to Dr. Russell a second time after I had left and come back in which he graciously did. We just had the WORST experience trying to drop our dogs off to be boarded at your building. Apparently, we missed the drop off time and your night/weekend employee decided to ignore us and be rude when we were trying to ask questions and get our mistake corrected and figure out what time we needed to bring our dogs back. We had 4 children with us, including our new baby, and we stood in your parking lot for over 35 minutes while the employee continuously ignored us and when speaking was completely rude and snippy. We have been extremely happy with Whitesburg Animal Hospital ever since we moved to Huntsville five years ago. The veterinarians show caring, excellent medical expertise, and professionalism. The veterinary assistants are wonderful. The people at the reception desk are friendly and welcoming. We have used the boarding services, and our dogs, first Sophia and now Rhea, have done well there. Everyone knows the name of our dog. I have boarded my lab mix, Annie, here 3-4 times. She is still in her puppy phase, so she's a bit hyper and while I have family members who will watch my older dog, no one will keep Annie! Whitesburg does a great job with her, she always comes home tired and clean. I have boarded her elsewhere where she has come home and I've immediately had to give her a bath because she's been kept in a kennel too long. I will never board anywhere else. I LOVE WAH! They saved my dog's life! She came down with a viral disease that triggered an autoimmune response. Dr. Armstrong caught it right away! The staff came in on their own time to give my dog a blood transfusion and even volunteered their own pet as the donor. they have gone over and above. My dog is also a regular in their enrichment program and these people are also wonderful! My dog can't wait to go every day. I can honestly say that I have never had a more appalling experience with someone who claims to be in the customer care/health care industry. New to the area and both scouting vets, my friend and I saw the dog park from my apartment complex behind it. We walked over and entered the nearest gate and threw tennis balls for our dogs. My friend and I read the dog park sign's typical rules, which did not state anything about the exclusivity of the park. Soon enough an associate of Whitesburg Animal Hospital came out of the back door and addressed us so aggressively from the first word that I was too shocked to say anything. Being addressed as "Um, can I help you?!?" as an adult is not something I have experienced, especially from someone who's livelihood is based on providing a service for clients. Had she taken a second longer to professionally express to us that the park is only open to clients, we would have apologetically taken our dogs elsewhere. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The associate was extremely distasteful in her explanation of the dog park. As two professional women, we did not expect to be spoken to so condescending, as if we were teenagers trashing their facility. Both my friend and I are in fields where we constantly deal with people as well, had I or any other associate spoken to anyone, client or not, in such a manner, there would be serious consequences and even the chance of termination. After gathering our words, we apologized and explained we thought the park was open to the public. The associate tells us, "Gather your kids and go," in reference to our dogs and quickly shut the door in our faces. Not only was her tone lacking any kind of professionalism or sensibility, I question her ability to treat the animals behind closed doors with any kind of respect if this is her response to human interaction. It truly leaves me uneasy that this associate is responsible for tending to any sort of creature's needs when the lack of respect and courtesy was seen in a very short span. As a new dog owner and someone new to the Huntsville area, I will certainly be taking my pet's medical needs elsewhere after this experience.Read Less
