General Info
The mission of DogtorJ.com is to provide the reader with much-needed information about food intolerance and how it directly relates to the multitude of medical conditions that afflict pets...and their people.
In addition, I hope to have you see how "cool" this miraculous thing we call a body truly is and how it never makes a mistake (that's right...never). It only produces symptoms and suffers from dysfunction when there is good reason for it to do so. Unfortunately, the most common time this occurs is that WE have done something TO our body.
Sound like a holistic approach? Well, if the elimination of certain offending foods (e.g. wheat, dairy, soy and corn) means that you can come off of four different medications that you have been on for 5-10 years and feel better than you have in 30 years and that is called "HOLISTIC" medicine, then so be it. I call it medicine at its best!!!
Miracles have occurred in both pets and their owners once they've adopted my elimination diet (The G.A.R.D.). Do you want to be the next testimonial? I hope so!

Doc is the most knowledgeable vet I've ever been to. I love that he continues to research. I have used him for close to 20 years and have always been more than satisfied.

Dr Symes and Howard are amazing with our pets. Dr Symes vast knowledge of allergies not only got the pet well but diagnosed me! Allergist and PCP agree totally without telling them what he said!

My English Springer Spaniel has enjoyed a very long comfortable healthy life. And I honestly believe it is due to Dr. Symes training me on how to care for my dog. He treats you as much as your animal. His dietary training has made a clear impact on Ollie's skin, hair, gums, eyes, energy level, et. al... I highly recommend The Beltline Animal Clinic. I have brought friends animals there with no fur and skin disease and through dietary instruction brought the dogs back to life within weeks. I have recommended them to multiple friends and they all swear by this team. Read Less

Love Dr. Symes! He has eeked more life out of my old cats and dogs than I could have ever hoped for without costing me a fortune.  I am very grateful for his kindness and care.  I do get frustrated with the long waits at his office and the difficulty to actually get an appt.  but I also understand there are only so many hours in a day... And he can't give each animal he is treating  his undivided attention if he is only focused on keeping a schedule..  So don't be on a tight schedule when you go there. Read Less

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Symes. I am a resident of Montgomery that had an extended stay in Mobile for work. A family member has exclusively used Dr. Symes for many, many years. I decided to take my two dogs to Dr. Symes for a thorough checkup and to follow up on some issues that my long time vet had not been making any progress (or helpful suggestions) on. This man is a WEALTH of knowledge, truly SO MUCH of his life has been dedicated to educating the importance of diet in animals AND people. Dr. Symes spent over TWO HOURS answering the MANY questions I had. With his help we came up with a new diet plan for both of my dogs and the results have been ABSOLUTELY STAGGERING. I cannot tell you how very THANKFUL I am that I met with Dr. Symes. My dogs are my family, and it was vital for me to try my hardest to find solutions to any issues they are struggling with. Also, I would like to note that I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars with my long time vet in Montgomery for allergy issues. When I went to pay my bill at Beltline I thought there was a mistake since I brought two dogs to the visit and he spent over two hours examining them and helping me formulate a new diet plan for them. NO WAY was the bill this low. No friends, no mistake. Dr. Symes and his staff have completely restored my faith in vets and even though I am back in Montgomery, he will remain my dogs primary vet. Though I will have a vet here in Montgomery for emergency situations, Dr. Symes will always be the ultimate source for anything regarding my dogs. Bravo Dr. Symes, you keep it real and I am so grateful for the work you, and your staff do. Read Less

Luckily I didn't check yelp this time as I went on recommendation from someone that has used Dr. Symmes for years. He spent nearly an hour examining and asking questions because my pet was getting considerably worse not better from the previous week (which involved another vet and a $400 bill..with no diagnosis). His approach is not to run lots of tests and overprescribe pet meds which I particularly liked about him. Had I taken my pet there originally, the outcome would have been completely different and my pet wouldn't have suffered this long. Kudos to a vet who spends more time on diagnosing then ordering lots of tests, writing out multiple unnecesary meds and giving you a huge bill. Read Less
