I have been going to this vet for a year now and have always received exceptional service. I followed Dr. Marshall from a previous vet and am very happy with the staff and the facility that Bit and Spur has. I have patronized several vets in the area and nowhere else comes close to the professional and courteous service they provide. We have used this vet from the time our Lab was very young and often times questioned the high prices but dealt with it because of the good service. With that being said in order to make the high prices tolerable we attempted to order medication from another provider and this office was beyond unhelpful with providing the necessary prescriptions. I can't even express how much I have loved and adored Dr.Courtney over the past 15 years... We have been going there since they were in the old office! I have brought, I believe 6 total animals (for sure 5) to see him. I have shared constantly their posts on facebook for their animal adoptions, and I have even referred people to them, who in fact became clients too. Today Dr.Courtney recommended an additional shot on my fiancés cat making the total more than the $200.00 cash my fiance gave me (I called ahead and figured the total up to be approx $195.00). I asked to be billed the $63.00 overage. I do not carry my credit cards on me unless I know I will need them. I never ever charge my credit cards unless its a necessity. Yea this is considered one, though I did not have it on me. The girls looked appalled I even asked. I have never not once paid a bill in full and one time I ask for a $63.00 bill and it's a shock and unheard of? I seriously paid in full over $1,000 there last year because of two of my cats having horrible respiratory infections. I've been an A+ patient and ask one time to be billed $63.00... SIXTY THREE DOLLARS. I told the girls I googled their number today to get a price and saw all these negative reviews on Google and yelp and I giggled bc "I loved them so much". After my next door neighbor in a large white hit my 6 P. Animal, Pierre Louis and with the Animal in the road beside our mailbox screaming in pain the man decided to keep going then he saw me run into the street and he knew he was caught. Love our new vet we changed today my first cousin retired from his Veterinarian Clinic over 1 year ago. I'm so happy and thrilled with the staff at bit and spur. The staff is exceptionally caring. The way they made us feel was worth the pricings. They really listen and try to educate you not just sell you products--that was my experience. Dr. Fuller was down to earth about our options. Both she and Stacey opened me up and disspelled my fears. I felt good about the visit. They were short staffed, someone said, but wasn't showing me that. I felt the pups got better attention than the many human doctor's office visits I myself have endured. I drove a good ways to use this vet instead of my local vet's unwelcoming and "formal" approach right when you walk in-- Why are you here instead of the feeling I got at BASAH " We are glad you are here! I absolutely love Bit & Spur. I have never had a bad experience here (unlike other places in Mobile). My Yorkie has had some complications as a puppy and they were always understanding and very open about what should be done. They never pressured me into any tests or procedures but were open about the prices and what I wanted to do. I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff - always nice and cheerful. My dog loves being dropped off for her visits and I am able to pick her up after work. When my Yorkie was spayed, they kept her overnight but let me come visit her after the procedure in a private room and no rush to leave. I cannot say enough about this place. Most of my experiences have been with Dr. Fuller so I would definitely recommend her. It may be a bit pricey to some alternative, cheaper places in Mobile, but I now drive from Midtown just so I know my dog is in great care! Read Less

Dr. Courtney was suggested to me. I've been in for 2 visits. I've received competent service from the vet and staff. A bit pricey but the technology used and well kept facilities aren't free. I am very pleased with the care Bit & Spur Animal Hospital has provided for my cats. The clinic is up to date, the staff is very compassionate and the prices are no higher than any other animal hospital I have taken cats to in the past and I have lived in several states. Bit & Spur is also very cat friendly and other cat owners can empathize with me when I say that cats can be very difficult when it comes time to go to the vet. Our experience with Bit and Spur has been amazing!  We rescued our pup a little over a year ago and have been using them ever since.  Other reviews discuss excessive cost.  I have used other vets and don't see a major price difference.  I would say any price difference is well worth the quality of service and the amount of care they provide our pet.  I always ask how much things will cost and our Vet is very happy to explain options and costs.   Many times,  they have combined procedures and visits to save us money.  We have very busy work schedules and the staff has always been extremely understanding and accommodating.  Our vet even met us after hours once with no extra charge because she had a concern for our pet.  From my experience,  if you want a positive experience and unmatched care for your 4 legged family member,  visit Bit and Spur.  Discuss costs with them up front and they will work with you.  Remember, some times, you get what you pay for. Dr. Fuller is genuine and very knowledgeable about dogs & cats. Don't let her young looks fool you. She is great at answering all of my questions (I typically have a long list). She gives a very thorough exam which not only makes me feel like I'm getting my money's worth, but it lets her catch things that a quick exam might miss. I have 4 pets that go to Bit and Spur Animal Hospital, and have been going there since before they moved into their new hospital. The staff and the Veterinarians always show the utmost care for all my pets. I have recomended numerous people to them for veterinary care, andd everyone has reported back the same way- they loved it. I have called other veterinary clinics to check prices and they are always very close in price , and yet offer the most service for my dollar- such as walking my pets at 10 pm when no other veterinary clinic does. Yeah it looks nice, but your bill will show you why they can afford to keep it that way!I have been using Bit and Spur for the last year and a half since I have lived here. I had been happy with the appearance of their facility and how nice the staff has been.  These are true statements but they have lost my business as they have taken advantage of me by charging for unnecessary items.I scheduled for my dog to be dropped off 12/24 and to be picked back up on 1/1. When I dropped her off I was aware she needed her kennel cough vaccination as the person who took the reservation had informed me.  They said they would be able to give this to her during her stay.  When I dropped her off I informed them I would be out of the country and not have cell phone service and gave them another emergency number.  I instructed them that if something were to happen to her though, to take do what needed to be done. When I went to pick her up on 1/1, the door had a sign stating they were closed. I called and left a message letting them know I was very upset that I had not been informed and I left my number for them to return my call.  I had to wait until after work on 1/2 to pick her up and had never received a phone call from Bit & Spur in response to my message.  When I picked her up nobody even mentioned my message.  When I went to check out, they were showing me her vaccination sheet and I saw a list of other items in addition to the kennel cough.  There was an additional vaccination as well as a number of other items which totaled $170!  I asked them what all the charges were for and they said she had been due for her annual exam so they did blood work, fecal test, some other vaccination, on top of a $41 fee for the vet just to look at my dog.  My dog was just in there two months ago for a skin rash (which she has been in for 2 or 3 other times for the same thing within the year and they've charged me for a vet fee every time even though it's been the same thing), and they checked everything out then!  I am sure the vet tech is the one who gave her the vaccination so there was no need for the vet to even need to look at her.  When I spoke with the vet she informed be that they're required to have their boarded dogs up to date on vaccinations.  I am fully aware of this and I informed her that I had no problem with that but the two vaccinations would have totaled $31, not $170!  The vet then said she had instructions that said "owner authorized whatever needs to be done".  That was in the context as in if she got loose and was hit by a car or was attacked by another dog!!  When I informed the vet of this she just looked at me and said she took that as a full work up.  That's not my fault there was poor communication between the front desk staff and the vet.  They did not give me any break or accept any ownership for the miscommunication.  And on top of that, they raised the boarding price $5 a day without any notification.  So that was an additional $50 right there I had not anticipated.  Obviously, not happy at all.  They took advantage of the situation besides the fact that they are extremely over priced.  I had been ok paying a little extra to feel like my pet was in a safe environment but I do not appreciate being taken advantage of.  There are plenty of other fine vets and kennels in the area, don't waste your money here. I am so disappointed. Although this is not my pet's vet, I took him to their boarding facility for the weekend. I specifically noted his special needs for his medication due to heart worms and allergies. They said they would definitely cater to that and would charge me $3/day medicinal dosage fee. I was excited when I pulled up as the facility itself is physically appealing and gave me comfort in knowing I was leaving my dog in a nice place. In person, I specifically went over all medications he needed to take, when he needed to take them, and supplied treats for the caretaker to put them in for easy swallowing. The receptionist was very kind and I watched her write notes on my dog's paper to alert the kennel attendant of what is to be done. I picked my dog up this morning and took him home. I had my own doctor's appointment to go to, and when I got home I decided to count through his medicine to ensure he was given proper dosage due to his fragile state. To my dismay, HE WASN'T GIVEN ANY OF HIS MEDICINE!!! All of his treats were gone, but none of his pills were. I called and Wendy said that I wasn't charged a medicinal dosage fee and she would have the office manager call me back when she returns from lunch. I never received a phone call from anyone after that. There is no excuse for this to happen! His medicine was in the same bag as his treats, therefore there is no way they could have been missed since all of his treats were gone. I am so livid that I could spit fire. This may cause complications with my dog's upcoming heart worm procedures as he has now missed 6 consecutive doses because of Bit & Spur's carelessness. Please do not take your pet to this facility. For their safety and your sanity! And because this happened, I really am questioning if they even walked him 4x a day like they said they would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO BIT & SPUR VET HOSPITAL!!!
