My pregnant yorkie was throwing up all food and water for almost 2 days CONSISTENTLY. I took her to Carriage Hills vet hospital where she was treated by a wide spectrum of Doctors in terms of experience and style with both people and animals. Its beneficial that they have so many options of Doctors because we were able to have Doctors whom were excellent with pets, however not so much with people, and Doctor's whom where great with people and pets. The⭐BONUS⭐ IS they all worked amazing together to tackle the symptoms of my little lady thus resloving the scary episode. I believe the process would've taken longer If only one Doctor treated her anywhere else which would've put my little lady one step closer to losing her and her babies lives.. Thank you to all the Doctors whom treated my yorkie and myself like we were both patients. To all future guests YES IT WILL COST YOU AN ARM, AND A LEG, AND PROBABLY A FEW ORGANS 😂.. It will feel like you just put a down payment on a spaceship😂, BUT ITS WORTH EVERY RED CENT.. My little lady absolutely has a new Doctor(s). Read Less

Dr. Hannah Lamb and all the staffs were wonderful. Took my dog for an emergency and she explained every thing very clearly. It was a very busy weekend for them but their service was great. My dog had a hip bone dislocation and Dr. Lamb suggested to go with the surgery. But before that she said she will try to locate it back without the surgery so my dog had to spend a night there. Unfortunately it did not work out well because my dog was so small but I could see that Dr. Lamb was actually caring about my dog and tried her best to comfort my dog. And they did not charge me for the treatment that not work out. They only charge you for what was needed to be done and what they've done right for your pet. Unlike some other reviews on other vets, Dr. Lamb definitely gave me an option before treating my dog, gave me a time for consideration, suggested which will be the best for my dog, actually DID THE BEST for my baby, and the staffs explained everything thoroughly billing wise. Loved the experience there! Thank you Dr. Lamb!!!! Read Less

The vets are good with the animals and the grooming is just fantastic. However their organizational skills and communication is severely lacking. They also do not support third party pharmacies like 1-800-PetMeds. I've never had any vet in the last 10 years of owning animals and moving all over the country refuse to call in or fax prescriptions. This includes other area vets. During the annual exam they never told us they'd recommend a different heart worm preventative. Additionally, when I first asked them to call in the prescription I was told they would. Then over a week later when I called to ask why it hadn't been done yet they responded that they don't do that. Not once did they try to call me. I hate to say it but I would look elsewhere. I have been using this clinic for two years now. Before I used Pet Care center, which has always been great, but I won't use anywhere but Carriage Hills now. My lab is and has always been dog/people aggressive, even with all the socializing as a puppy. The staff and vets allow me to be present for whatever procedure is done because they know he will act up and be stressed. Every other vet would always take him from me, muzzle him, then get mad when he would snatch the muzzle off and bite someone. Every visit has been extremely pleasant, especially with my main vet Dr. Carswell (I cannot say enough good things about her), and also Dr. Reynolds (who tends to my horses/livestock). I also have a heeler that is now 1 1/2 and tends to show the same aggression tendencies towards other dogs and sometimes people, Dr. Rowe was her main vet growing up for all of her puppy rounds, and for all of her respiratory and urinary problems growing up. She was very helpful in trying to make Oakley as comfortable as possible and clear up all of her issues. I also have a 19 year old dachshund that has been with me since she was 6 weeks old. When she randomly started vomiting and having bloody diarrhea, Dr. Griffin saw her right away. She eneded up needing to be ultrasounded and have x-rays to determine what we all knew, she is getting old and her body is wearing down. The nurses and vet were both very empathetic and kind to my old lady, when she came out of the hospital she was good as new! I went from thinking "this is it", to having a spring chicken again! Earlier this year I also adopted a stray 14-16 year old dachshund that was in need of some serious TLC. Dr. Salter had to perform not just a dental, but as she said "oral surgery" because his mouth was so awful. Ollie was on antibiotics for a good 4 weeks after he had 15 teeth removed. All throughout the 6 months we had him, Dr. Salter was extremely helpful in all my questions. Dr. Carswell made the process of letting him go much easier and sent a condolence card out to me as well. As you can see I have a wide variety, all of which Carriage Hills have provided the best care for. Read Less

Last week I had the unfortunate necessity to bring my cat to the emergency vet at Carriage Hills and afterwards, I know for a fact that I will never bring my pets here ever again. I had nothing against the receptionist that was helping us as she was doing everything in her power to keep us calm, but after reading some of the other reviews, it seems like this is a recurring issues. First, they took my cat to the back and did not allow me to come with them. I have been to almost every vet clinic in Montgomery and have never had the experience where I have not been allowed to go back with him. The fact that they just took my cat, just makes me know for sure that they were acting rough to him especially after how he was acting. Half an hour later, the receptionist, NOT THE VET, came out to us to give us our estimate. It was over $500 worth of tests to find out what was wrong with him, this wasn't even including how much we would spend were they to actually figure it out! The receptionist gave us a few minutes to process everything. We didn't have the money for that, but knew that if were able to keep him comfortable for the night, we could take him to the vet in the morning. When the receptionist, STILL NOT THE VET, came back out we asked her to give him some pain meds and we would hold out til morning. The entire time that we were there, I never once saw the supposed vet, Dr. Maples. She was supposed to be treating my cat, but she didn't come out to even introduce herself? I'm paying you to look at my cat and find out what's wrong and you can't even come out and comfort me while I'm freaking out? I don't appreciate the level of care that I received while I was at this vet hospital. I guarantee the poor receptionist does not get paid well enough to break that kind of news to their clients and what pisses me off most is the fact that I know if they were able to figure it out, the vet would have come out and taken all the credit. Because I wasn't willing to spend God knows how much money, I didn't get to even meet the vet. If this is the way that they treat the people that walk in the door during an emergency, I'd hate to see how they treat their regular patients. Oh, and the vet that I took him too the next morning, knew exactly what was wrong with him and they didn't do any of the tests that Dr. Maples wanted to do. A $500+ vet bill went down to $100. Please go to ARK Animal Hospital if you have a pet issue, Dr. Stephenson and the others will actually treat you with some respect and will actually look at your pet. I'm not even completely convinced that Dr. Maples was even actually present during my trip. I refuse to step through that door ever again. Read Less

Have used CHAH, specifically Dr. Van Hooser for years. Many years ago, had a 1 lb 1 yr old yorkie who suffered a stroke while under anesthesia. The staff welcomed us to after hours visits for a week until we finally took our Lil Man home, expecting him to not make it. But he did recover and lived for about 10 more years! This year I rescued a pit bull mix who was suffering from malnutrition as well as a badly broken hip. Dr. Van Hooser worked with us on the finances and helped us to help this baby. Fast forward to this weekend when we had to use the emergency clinic for the first time when one of our dogs was on the losing side of an attack. She had multiple very severe lacerations. They got her right in, monitoring her wounds which ultimately required surgery. Unable to do the surgery right away due to her BP being too low, they kept her comfortable and kept in contact with us, even calling me at 2 am to let me know she had finally been able to have surgery and was doing well. We now have our baby home recovering. We had a different doctor this time, and could not ask for a better place to take our furbabies. In my humble opinion, they are worth every single penny I have given them. I will always highly recommend them!Read Less

The Clinic is professional and staff very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them except when it comes to payment - they do not always provide an estimate prior to service, inflexible to work out any sort of payment arrangements, and at the end of the day leave you with the feeling that money is the most important priority far above the care of the animals. There are many other good vets in the surrounding area that will work out payment arrangements and are not rude in how they demand payment in full. Read Less

They were great...at first. We went in with an emergency and the staff was so kind and caring. The dog stayed overnight and we were provided with an estimate of $690 worst case scenario. When I went to pick up the dog, I was not shown a second x-ray where it appeared my dog ate a squeaker. I was not allowed to speak with the actual vet. AND the bill was $1,024; they decided to run a complete chemistry profile without permission just in case we decided to operate. After negotiating the bill, I walked out with my dog. He immediately had to urinate and spent about 2-3 minutes doing that, which means he wasn't let out that day and was expected to go in his kennel, which he would not have done. I'm sure they are good people and good vets, but their business practices could use work. Call if you need to run extra tests. Include food in with the boarding for ICU patients. By the way we left with the squeaker still inside the dog because they recommended he try to pass it on his own. Why run expensive tests if you plan to monitor the dog for 12 hours anyway and if the next x-ray 6 hours later tells you what you needed to know. The chem panel was run following the x-rays and after I called to check on my dog and was told to call back that afternoon. Lets keep the owners in consideration, especially when they ask to be notified in advance of any changes to the treatment plan. We went to our regular vet for follow up today. Almost a week after the initial incident. Our vet requested a copy of the x-ray at 9am and did not receive it until around 1:30 or 2pm. This was not a film x-ray; it is a digital x-ray that is emailed to the vet. Use any other emergency clinic or drive to Auburn. My vet said he doesn't even specifically see a squeaker in the x-ray, which means I've been going through his poop for a week for something that wasn't there.Read Less

My 9 month old German Shepherd Hans was hit by a car on February 13th and this was the most tragic experience I have ever been through. He is my pride & joy and the light of my life. I am so thankful to Linda King because she referred me to Carriage Hills and helped me get Hans checked in quickly. I was greeted outside by two of the friendliest technicians and they even brought a stretcher to bring Hans in on just in case he needed it! I checked him in and their team got him stabilized. I had to leave him overnight but I knew he was going to be well taken care of. I am so thankful to Dr. Van Hoozer who came in on Valentines Day to operate on Hans "My Valentine"!! The entire staff new Hans and even called him their "big boy"! I could call Carriage Hills any time, day or night, and as often as I wanted to check on Hans or with questions or concerns and someone on their team was always available, polite, and helpful! I had been so afraid that he would not be able to run and play with his other German Shepherd friends ever again. I have a 15-year-old cat who only has one kidney, and we have relocated five times within the last five years.  I've accumulated fair experience in screening and selecting veterinarians to work with my cat for his special needs.  This animal hospital and team is amongst the most outstanding I have experienced ever. I went to Carriage Hills Animal Hospital upon a recommendation from Eastmont Animal Clinic, because they suspected an ultrasound would be needed to gain further resolution on his backed up colon and bladder, and Eastmont did not have this instrumentation. At Carriage Hills, Dr. Carswell, Dr. Maples, and the main nurse, Mary Tehend did an outstanding job at quickly troubleshooting the root cause of my cat Otis' problem, and quickly escorting him back to health. They expertly answered all of my questions and explained a very sound rationale for the way ahead and their underlying risk management approach, considering all of Otis' special circumstances.Throughout the process, they and the rest of the team gave me status updates on my cat. They discharged Otis to me tonight, within under 30 hours of having received him, stabilized, rehydrated, alert, and cleaned out, along with a short-term and long-term strategy for preventing this problem in the future as he ages. This team is professional, friendly, and competent.  I highly recommend them in every respect.
